Peltznickel is one of Santa's "helpers." Dressed in furs and a little strict. He helps Santa carry toys, but also keeps a bundles of sticks to leave for the bad kids. He keeps his sack handy to scoop up the worst kids and drag them off. A German-American tradition in your region of the country. Merry Christmas.

Awww ... thanks guys! Our Christmas was magical ... the girls were so good and were appreciative of everything ... we had a nice day.
Had a great workout this morning ...
Warm-Up: Jacks, Mtn Climbers, Squat/Stand, Lunge Matrix, Cat/Dog, Downward Dog
Complex: 1x5 45# Oly bar: Cleans, Push Press, Squat, BentOver Row, RDL
A: Deadlifts
1x6 95#
1x6 115#
1x3 135#
1x2 155#
1x1 175#
1x1 175# (PR!)
B1: Face Pulls: 15# 2x8
B2: NG Alternating Shoulder Press: 20# DBs 6, 4
C1: Eccentric Chin Ups (2+ sec each): 4, 3
C2: Push Ups: 4, 3
D: 16kg KB Swings: 2x10
Feeling good about the DL number ... I had never really pushed it to find my max. It seems that all the programs I have done have deadlifts for 8-15 reps, so I never went higher than 90# mostly out of fear. So this was good. I might have been able to go higher, but didn't want to risk an injury. It felt good.
I've finished reading NROL4W ... looking forward to starting it ... T-12 days!

Congrats on that PR Julie! I've felt exactly the same way about deads. I fear injury more on that exercise than any other. Chris says on my break from HELL we are going to play with one rep max on some things...

Good job Julie! It's that New Englander in you that fuels your strength.
I like deadlifts. They're one of my better exercises right now. I haven't done any 1 rep max's lately, but I am insipired by you.

You said carby snacks before bed and that really rang a bell for me. Before HELL, that is exactly what I was doing too. I have noticed some huge benefits from cutting them out and I am really hoping I can make myself stay away from them when I'm done with the program.
The biggest benefit....I am sleeping so much better. I don't know if it is the lack of grainy carbs or the massive amounts of protein, but I've only been needing 6.5 hours of sleep to be fully refreshed, and the sleep I get is so much more quality. Before, I needed 7.5, and still would wake up feeling groggy. Another benefit of cutting out those grains, much less gastro issues. I feel like a factory that went Green or something. How do you feel when you eat more carbs? Maybe I just don't process them well.
At any rate, I know you can make the food work. You are such a determined, strong person, and food is a small obstacle compared to many of the things you deal with daily.

Hey Julie,
haven't been in here for a while but I am so glad you are on a program and making gains. Great DL numbers, keep it up
I will be popping in here more often over the holidays and catch up

Hey Julie,
Keep up the good work-outs. I hear you on the late nite snack thing. Lately, I have hooked onto a very small scoop of Edie's low fat raspberry vanilla with chocolate chips as my treat. I feel guilty eating it. I'm not getting fat per se, but I feel like I should knock it out completely for a while.
Snowing here! Yay. Keep up the good work though, nice OHead squats, single RDLs too. Shaking wet noodle that makes me laugh for some reason. Oh yeah, it's late.
