Hi Julie,

Hope things are getting better for you and yours. You have beautiful girls! This is a tough time of year for lots of people, it's all the fanfare of holiday stuff. Sounds like you have lots of guts, so hold on and take another run on that taboggan! Sounds like fun. We got about 10-12" here too. It's pretty...

Deb, thanks ... this is a tough time of year, but it hasn't traditionally been ... this is all new stuff for us!!

Second workout: more hill intervals with toboggan ... and snowman building ... I took pictures but left the camera downstairs ... I'll post them tomorrow ...

Off to my favorite Japanese restaurant tonight ... I'm going with a bunch of girlfriends and we reserved the hibachi! Should be fun ... I've never had hibachi before ... but I plan to have some sushi!!

Man Japanese sounds good!

I wish my workout had some shoveling and snowman building in it. We don't get that much snow down here. However they are calling for up to 6 inches tonight and tomorrow!

Good job keeping the activity levels up during this time of the year. Its usually a tough stretch!

Thanks Chris ... I really enjoy the snow and outside winter weather, so it's not usually a problem unless we get no snow!! I am itching to XCSki, but probably won't get to for a while. We are having another winter "event" but lots of mixed precipitation here ... probably 4 inches worth of mixed snow, sleet, and ice ... UGH! Not great for skiing, especially when I am cutting th trail in the woods myself.

We watched A Beautiful Mind last night ... Matt's therapist had been requesting that he watch it. It really hit home for me (I really identified with his wife obviously) even though Matt's situation is a bit different. He's feeling off again after a few good days. He's determined that it is because of the plowing ... it's just too stressful. So after this storm we are going to brainstorm on reducing that workload and making his life easier. It is a huge step that he is recognizing the stressors and willing to take steps to reduce the stress. It's just so hard to see him struggle so much with something that last year was enjoyable for him. Sigh.

Finally over this chest cold/gunk thing I had. Looking forward to getting back into the heavy lifting tomorrow.

Here's some pictures of our snowman event ...

And here's what they are doing today since we can't go outside ...

So, with everything not so good ... there is always good if you look hard enough. The girls are certainly my good right now!

Great pics. And Matt has a really cool hat!

I'm glad you're feeling better, and that Matt's recognizing stressors.

I love the snowman! And I really love the fact that the snow is 3000+ miles east of me...
Your girls have some happy smiles, there. What great family pix!

The ballerina pics are toooooo cute! Mom buys Samantha a new pair of leather ballet slippers about twice a year and she LOVES them! The other day Jack came out in a blue tutu and some of her "too small" slippers...pretty funny!

And your snow man ROCKS!

Your girls are too cute!!!! They are sooo much fun at that age.

Kind of miss the snow but not enough to venture north to risk getting trapped by a blizzard. I seriously considered surprising my family for Christmas next week but the weather seems a little dicey to be driving to Iowa.

Paula, I could never live somewhere that there wasn't snow ... I am a true New Englander I guess!!

Lance, I don't think anything but flurries over the next few days ... but they are forecasting RAIN on Christmas Eve ... friggin' RAIN!!!!! Unreal ... I just want a nice white Christmas ... sigh ...

Today's workout = yoga and maybe some elliptical too ... and lots of laundry folding.

Weight is holding steady so that's good. It's been about a month of no more gaining. Things should start moving down after the first of the year when I tighten up the diet a bit ...

Woke up and worked out. Drank my protein shake first and then felt like puking, so I cut the volume down some. It was still intense, but managable. I did think I was going to puke once, but it passed thankfully!

Warm-Up: 20 sec. each x 2 - burpee jacks, high knee jog, mountain climbers
Mobility: spiderman stretch, step-lunge stretch
Complex: 1x5 each with 10# DBs
* As I said I was a little out of it when I started my workout, so I started with the oly bar until I got to squat + press, then I switched to the DBs!)
High Pull (45# oly bar)
Hang Snatch (45# oly bar)
Squat + Press
Bent Over Alt. Row
Push Up
Renegade Row

Workout:
*supersets with no rest
*90 second rest after each superset

A: Hang Power Clean: 60# 4x5

B1: Front Squat: 60# 8, 7
B2: Push Up: BW 5, 5

C1: Single Leg RDL: 12kg KB 2x8 each
C2: Side to Side BW Row: 2x8

D1: Push Press: 55# 2x8
D2: Renegade Row: 10# DBs 2x10

E1: Single Arm Lat Pull: 20# 2x10
E2: Russian Twist: 25# plate 2x20

*Despite feeling pukey, increased weights on nearly all sets.

We got snow on Christmas Eve 3 years ago. It was really freaking cool.

It lasted less than 24 hours in most places.

I talked to my Mom last night. Good thing I decided not to go back to Iowa for Christmas. They're supposed to get another snowstorm Saturday or Sunday.
