I noticed the other day that I stand and walk with my feet noticeably less externally rotated. Gotta keep up the stretching and mobility, as painful as it is.
Question for Guru 1 and Guru 2... I know I'm not supposed to squat, but what am I doing to actually strengthen the squeezers? I'm able to keep my leg from going outward on the split squats, but that's more isometric, it seems. Of course, I haven't seen phase two of my program, so that might be coming up...
Today was an IF day. I had H&H in my coffee, a late lunch of pot roast and veggies, then taco salad for dinner. More coffee with some milk tonight. I think that's pretty low.
Edit -- that's like 875 calories. Maybe I should eat a little more?
There's room for milk in my coffee and a drink to drown my sorrows.
Looking great! Your decision to just work toward peak fitness has paid off in spades.
I'm still mixing it up with Ross' stuff, but barely managing to maintain, due simply to my own failure to keep at it as I should.
I'm thinking about starting a log again, I haven't done as well since I stopped. Accountability?
Egham
Thanks!
Start up a new log, but don't go hog wild. Ross's programs are day in and day out. You can get in good shape with workouts 2-3 times per week, even Ross-style. Short and sweet. Of course, diet is a big factor, but working out a lot is overrated (shhhh... don't say anything).

I won't go so far as to say working out in the rain and/or snow is as much fun as a sunny day, but you could pull a Rocky and train in the snow. Snow shovel deadlifts have gotta count for something!

I was recently doing hammer swings on a tire at about zero, with wind chills on top of that. Heat would probably kill me at this point.

My college roommate ended up in Duluth for a few years after graduation in 1973. I visited him the winter after graduation.....He was a short distance outside of what passed for suburbia and we could hear the wolves at night. Keep your sledge hammer with you and don't let a hungry wolf pack make dinner out of you!

You should TOTALLY start a log Egham! I miss having you around here.
Thanks for the encouragement Jill, I do miss being around here like I used to be, but my new job has really been keeping me going....even more than I'd like. I've been thinking about re-establishing a log just to provide that extra bit of accountability. I think I need it at this point. Perhaps soon.

I can't remain silent on diet; it's behind my negative progress. My new job requires a lot of high dollar client dinners and I have not adjusted to that very well.
My physical stamina is still quite good, I can still run 5 miles at 7:15 / mile, which I don't consider too bad for a 57-year old and I know I can get a bit faster when I slim back down. I have lost some ground in weight lifting though, about 5%; I think it's from lack of consistency.
My current thinking is that I need to push things back up a level and make myself a bit more accountable to my friends here to get myself back to where I need to be.

Then get to it and start the log so I can start kickin' some ass.

LOL. Lots of wildlife even in the city. Maybe even wolves on occasion. There WAS the moose walking down mainstreet that interrupted the mother's day walk on year. . .
Saw the post about your running times. Wow! Great times. I don't run, so I'm happy to get sub 10 minute miles for 3 miles. How's your flexibility?
C1, EZ Curls, 65 (10/10/8+2)
C2, Decline Skullcrushers, 65 (8/8/8)
D, Facepulls, 30 (15), 45 (12/12)
This was a really good workout.
There were some annoying people in there, tonight.
Doo Rag Dude gave me the staredown because I did chinups where he, apparently, was doing tricep pressdowns. He was gone for a long time, so who knew. How long does it take to do a set of chinups, anyway?
There were a bunch of high schoolers who obsessively weigh themselves after their workouts. They all weighed around 140 except for their leader, who was 150. They're each around 6' tall. Their collective brainpower told them that they weren't working out often enough to gain weight.
There was a little dude who was really ripped, but couldn't have been more than 120 and 5'6". He did a lot of curls, while wearing...

Thanks, I've always been able to set a decent pace and just keep going. I would characterize my flexibility is fair to moderate as long as I don't get in a rush and skip my post-run stretching.

It's like a shoe bag, with shoulder straps (more shoulder strings). Drawstring at top.
Yeah, not the most masculine bag I've ever seen. For some reason when you first posted it, I was thinking it was some sort of shirt and I'm like WTF...?
Forgot to log my workout from last night. It was a great one. My best workouts seem to be a day or two into the bulking portion of the weekly cycle.
Double DB Cleans, 65s (3/3/3)
Dragon Flags-knees bent (3/3/3/3/3/3)
DB Clean & Push Press, 75 (3/3/3/3/3/3) - single db, do numbers are per side
V-Grip Seated Rows, 120 (10/10/10/10)
Dips, +25lbs (6/5/5/5)
Single Leg RDLs (6/6/6/6) - It was really tough to get those sixth reps. Super wobbly
Standing Cable Press, 90 (8), 85 (9/8/8) - need to start at 85 next week.
Cable Pullthroughs, 120 (15/15/15/15)
It's been a long time since I was truly beat after a workout. There was a lot of effort in this one and it was all I could do to get to a snack after the workout.
I'm a little sore and tight today, but feeling good!
