C, Deadlift, 225 (5), 315 (5), 335 (5/5/2) -- had to stop because of an impending callus rip
D, Zercher Squat, 225 (2/2/2/2/2)
E, 1-Legged Squat (from bench), +25 (6/5/5)
I went light on the cleans to make sure I didn't kill myself. The last few times I tried anything with explosive power, I sucked. This one was good and smooth.
The Zercher Squats were good, but I was feeling them in the back. Must do more of these. It's been a while.
Walking is not pleasant, today. I have to stop sitting down, because the first five minutes after standing again... well, it's ugly.
Finally slowing down. Sleeping & resting is equally important as exercise.
Must have missed it somewhere but did your kids move in with you recently rather than just come for visits. (been guilty of neglecting your log for too long).
Your lifts are quite varied and always have been this way. Do you make them up yourself or are you following some kind of manual . What's your inspiration?

Hi. You're right. I'm often guilty of pushing too long or too hard and wiping out. Sleep and rest are things that I neglect too much. Sleep feels like a waste of time. I know it's not, but it's hard to sleep with things I want to do. Must stop that.
My kids did move back to the area a while back, so I get them pretty much every weekend and a night or two during the week. Pretty much whenever. Their mom lives practically around the corner, so it's walking distance between us. Convenient for school and friends, too.

I have certain core lifts (or variations) that I use all the time, then throw in lifts that I've never tried or find fun to keep things interesting.
I'm sure that if I had a fully laid out plan, that I would progress at least a bit faster, but it's a balance of fun vs progress. I'll take less progress for more fun. I think that keeps me in the game longer, and staying in is a big part of the battle.
Fun is especially important lately, as I've been stressed for a new job that takes a lot of time. So, when I get to the gym, I typically do a lower body, a push, and a pull, then misc. (core, arms, more pulling, rehab). I try to repeat a lift with set/rep ranges every few weeks, to make sure I'm progressing.
Most of my influence is from the guys that are better, stronger, faster than me around here. Plus Ross Enamait, Zack Even-Esh, Eric Cressey, Bill H, Dan John, etc. Plus, always some "wishful thinking" bro exercises for good measure. Gotta stay pretty.
Exercises that will help fix any cosmetic issues he feels he has.
I've seen people ask how to close the gap between their pecs, or build up the peak on their biceps. Even something as over the top as how to develop the Brad-Pitt-in-Fight-Club physique.
You know, when the brohams do all those curls and pushdowns that probably aren't doing anything at all because they already did all those curls and pushdowns.

Uh... excuse me?

Dude, you reading my plan and letting my secrets out?
A little IF yesterday, courtesy of a forgotten wallet. Went well. I highly recommend doing a little IF now and then. If anything, it's helped to clarify when I'm hungry, vs just wanting to eat. For instance, yesterday when I got home, I was hungry. There was little doubt.
In other news, I finally shaved my head. Mach3 and no blood. What a royal pain the ass. I'm sure it gets easier, but it's still not as smooth as when I shave my face.
The look isn't all that different from the shortest that the trimmer can do, either. So, I doubt I'd repeat it unless I someday make it on Survivor and want to look good for an extra week.
I haven't sent one in, but I always yell at the screen that I should. Bunch of pussies. Crying that they want to go home all the time. Complaining about being hungry.
And come on. The minute you submit that damn application, you'd be stupid not be fully layered in practical clothing, 24 hours a day. These morons show up to auditions or "meetings" in a business suit with nothing but underwear underneath? Then they're whisked away to the game and screwed. Please... Even my daughter said that she'd layer underwear, a bikini, multiple shirts, and a pants that could be easily chopped down into shorts. Practical shoes, too. from the minute she dropped that thing in the mail.
The job stress is going from a job that was 100% easy to do because I've done it for 15 years to a sales job in the same company. Getting the hang of it, but it's totally different.
There are some real dumb-asses on Survivor this season ... having fun watching the stupidity. It would be hard for me to "play nice" and not just royally piss people off by telling them what I think 24/7. No sent in applications for me either. Plus I could never leave my kids for that length of time.

Ah, I see. You're a smart dude, so before long you'll be making more coin and working less than you did over the past 15 years, as long as your market is decent.

I have a friend who made it through the first cut of Survivor applicants, but didn't make it to the show. Too bad, because he would have made for great TV! I, too, yell at the TV...especially the whiners.
Now, I KNOW I wouldn't do good on Survivor for lots of reasons. But, first and foremost would be those gross-stuff eating challenges. I'd certainly bomb out on those because I am gagging even typing about it.
My biggest issue would be trying to be more conniving. I'd be off early, like that chick that got kicked off the other week. She was too good, never blew it, and was just hangin'. They figured she'd be too much competition near the end, and kicked her ass off.
Last night's workout went like this.
DB Cleans, 90 (3), 100 (3/3/3/3/3)
DB Bench, 75 (3/3/3/3/3)
Standing DB Row, 110 (3), 105 (3/3/3/3)
Curls
Kneeling Cable Crunch
It was a late workout and I put sooo much into those cleans that it really effected me by the time I got to the curls. I HAD to get home fast and take care of my hunger.
