I bonked bad about set 5 of the chinups. I basically abandoned everything else, sat in the shade to rest between sets, and knocked the last 4 sets out in the heat. I walked home and plopped down and ate and drank. I'm better now. It's still really hot, though.
I was wiped out for the rest of the day. Heat exhaustion, probably. I'm okay today, with the exception of these...
If I could redesign one thing on the TRX, it would be the location of the adjustment buckles. These are the bruises that result from the metal buckles pressing into my arms.
Are those from the pushups?
You're not supposed to let the straps touch your arms when you do them ... it helps work your stabilizers to have to keep the straps away from your arms.
See if that helps Fuzzy (like the peach)!

When I show up with weird bruises (which I always have from karate and weightlifting!), I end up with some nurse at the pre-employment physical asking if I feel unsafe at home

Yes.
I'll try. I'm so used to the narrow, neutral grip pushup thing that it didn't occur to me to do them that way.

My son used to have really bad reflux and would head butt us in the chest from the pain. Once, a nurse was about to call the cops on me because my ex had really bad bruises. They didn't believe that the bruising was from my son. Luckily, he had an attack on the spot and removed the doubt (we got some medicine, too).

HA! That sucks. My sister was accident prone (really, holy shit) and had the hospital worried on more than one occasion. Once she was at daycare (where my mom worked) and fell and bashed her chin on the cement floor. Nasty. Took her to the hospital across the street, rather than the one near home that we usually go to. They got all snippity and crap wondering why my mom took her there, and was she hiding something. UH, it was ACROSS THE STREET!
My parents got a faster divorce by saying my mom beat my dad. lol. Battery is funny.

Prolonged or repeated pressure can break capillaries just as easily as impact can, and usually with far less pain. That's how I get a lot of my bruises.
Driving to the gym before work is, well... not exactly my favorite thing to do.

In 35 year of gym and swimming I have never once started before 11am, and usually afternoon or (now that wife is retired and I see her during the day) evening.

I'm the opposite. I prefer the gym. I just don't like the rushed feeling.

Sympathy. Real.
I worked out in the morning for two years. It was okay, but I feel so much stronger after 10am or so.

FINALLY got in a workout. The last one was Monday.
First, I tried some assisted one arm chinups. I used my free hand on the wrist of the working arm for a bit of support. Without that, I spin freely AND have no chance of going up. I managed 2 for the first set and 1 the second. It really killed my hands. One of the rare times when I actually made a loud noise while working out.
I forgot to post how uncoordinated I was on the balance lunges. I started with one hand and had to move to two in the second set. I wasn't doing well. Clumsy.
I'd like to say it was fatigue, but I think many people will vouch for my less than stellar coordination or balance when I'm squatting, lunging, etc.
I do remember getting better when I used the trx regularly for one leg movements. Better at the trx one leg movements, at least.
On a related note (related to the unilateral movements), my quads were super fatigued YESTERDAY. Up and down stairs was a chore. I'll have to keep my trx movements in my routine for a while. I feel like my whole leg was worked, rather than just isolated muscles.
I'll keep up the bench pistols, but I think they are teaching me more about working the right muscles, rather than working the muscles. Does that make sense? Steve Cotter, Galya, Kuri, Dan John, GQ, etc. have all told me that I don't know how to squat (single or both legs). I believe them all.

I'm with you there. If there is an anti-balance and anti-coordination skill I have it in spades.

Excellent workout. I got in early and felt energetic 'til the end. Talked to a few people. All in all, a good time was had at 24 Hour Fitness, RSM location.
As summer winds down and fall approaches, it's time to shift focus to the gunz, shoulders, and traps, since they will be seen even through the many layers of California's cold weather attire.
