Yesterday, 3/25/2008, different gym back in my ol' Torrance/South Bay stomping grounds. It's funny, when I was there, I never really talked to too many people, but yesterday, a couple of people came up to talk to me to see if I "was back."
A, Jump Shrugs, 255 (6/6/6/6)
B1, Sumo DL, 325 (6/6/6/6)
B2, Chest Supported Row, 90? (6/6/6/6)
C1, Cable Rear Delt Raise, 35 (8/8/8/8)
C2, Pushups (19/19/18/16)
D1, Serratus Crunch, 45lb plate (8/8/8/8) -- on a bench this time to save the tail bone.
D2, Crossover Curls, 35 (8/8/8/8)
I'm thinking about doing some conventional deadlifts in my next phase. I've noticed my stance getting narrower and narrower. Still sumo, but I think I might be able to get into standard deadlift position now. We'll see. Look for some lighter weights, coming soon.

There are 14 people with training logs in the "bad ass" forum.
5 of those are going for fat loss.
A sixth drinks slimfast shakes.
From a purely statistical standpoint, I think THIS forum became more bad ass when those guys left.

Hey LD, some really impressive numbers there. As you make the switch from sumo to narrow youve inspired me to move in the opposite direction and switch things up too .
Those Jump Shrugs make me shudder though and im sitting behind a computer screen.

Though no personal experience doing them, its alot of weight to visualize trying to pop into the air like that, assuming that
these are the jump shrugs youre doing.
Your log ( i used to follow the one 2 years ago) always serves as motivation,so just trying to encourage you in the fact that im scared to attempt that exercise with that weight. Definately a unique excercise . never seen anyone attempt it, wish i worked out at your gym!

I don't do them from the floor, but that's basically it. With that weight, I'm not leaving the ground. I've been doing them twice a week. Once light and low reps for some power training and once heavier for reps. The heavy day for hyoooge traps.

I think it's funny that he's jump shrugging sets of 6 with the weight I was doing deadlift singles at this week. And he's lighter than me.

Thanks.
Here's my evening garage workout
A, DB Snatches and Cleans. Got a few snatches up to 100lbs. Lots at 90 and a few sets of 4-5 at 80lbs. Cleans on both sides up to 105lbs.
B, Sandbag snatches and cleans, 85lbs, lots of reps
C1, Sandbag rows, 85lbs (20/20/20)
C2, TRX Presses (9/10/8/8)
D, 1 Handed TRX Pistols (8/6/6/5)
My glovelessness totally sucks. They don't just hurt, they get blood blisters every time. The pads where my fingers and palm come together are so thick that they fold over and pinch, creating huge and sharp calluses. Even sanded down, they fold over and the layers of skin separate. In between, there is now blood. Both hands.
BTW, this is why I put the gloves back on in the first place, three years ago.
Advice?

Is the glove issue just that folks here made fun of you?
(Wear them and don't tell anyone!!)

Partially, but it's also because I've been told that some of my grip issues are because of gloves. Gloves make every bar more like a fat bar, I guess.

Yeah man, there's no shame in gloves if the alternative is having a pair of bloody, swollen hands that resemble oven mitts.
And are you snatching with both arms now or just the good one?

Just the good one for now. Cleans with both.

you could tape them up and not have the grip issue.

Wear the gloves. Don't wear the gloves. You know we'll make fun of you either way.

I was antsy, so I headed out to the garage to do a conditioning workout. Instead, I did a full workout.
A1, DB Toss & Catch, 65 (20/20/20)
A2, Medicine Ball Pushup (16/15/12) -- These really fry my pecs, rather than my triceps
B1, SB Shoulder Squat, 120 (6/6/6/6)
B2, SB BO Row, 120 (9/9/9/9)
C, Med Ball Smash, 100 reps, 3:13 (This is a bad time. The ball flew out of my hands and rolled into the street... I'll have to try again in a few days.)
Very satisfying, yet short workout.

Today
A, A bunch of split snatches and cleans - mostly just trying to get good at landing. It's not always pretty.
B1, SB shoulder and squat, 120 (10/10/10)
B2, DB high pull, 65 (8/8/8)
C1, TRX Incline Press (15/15/15)
C2, TRX Rv Lunge Balance/on block (8/8/8)
D, SB Shoulder Runs, 120lbs, uphill and back down, twice - got plenty of stares as I ran by my neighbors with the bag on my shoulder.
