I'm going to wing my workouts for the next couple of days, then start a new plan, with my shoulder stuff worked into it. The CW stuff I've been doing is mentally unsatisfying. You have to do what you like, right?
Good call. What's your new plan like?

Size 11. Sold.
I think the low and high tops should fit the same, plus, the high-tops are soooo much cooler. Did you actually get the red ones?
The old bag only went up to 125 and had to be stuffed hard to get that in.
Whoo boy, that could look really dirty in a different context...

Love the shoes! My sister had multi-colored high tops in the '80s and all my drummer friends had black.
Good luck finding a workout you like. I'm happy to be told what to do these days. Just kill me and I'll smile and thank you when you're done -- ya know?
Enjoy the kids for the weekend and good call with trying to keep things non-obsessive around them. BTDT and you don't realize just how much they pick up on.

True. The old, old bag went up to 160. She was much harder to handle than a sandbag..

Thanks, Brenda. I've been reading a bunch of articles on increasing vertical leap. Most have a strength focus, so hopefully stronger and higher!
Here's today's workout. It's from Ross Enamait's forum. The workout of the week.
20x Db Swing
20x Push up
50x Rope Turns
20x med Ball Slams
1min Sprint cycle on stationary bike
If no bike, i would sub the skipping for 30 Jumping jacks and the bike would then be 1min sprint skip
Repeat x5
I have no bike and don't like to use a timer for the rope, since it's on my wrist and doesn't beep, so this is how I did mine.
20x Db Swing (60lbs)
20x Push up
30x Jumping Jacks
20x Med Ball Slams
120x Rope Turns (I don't have a timer and can't keep looking my watch, so I went to 120 turns, instead)
Repeat x5
It took me just over 25 minutes to complete. I had no choice but to rest afterward.
This was a great workout. I was feeling my weakness in pushups. Hopefully, in a few more weeks, I'll be able to knock out 20 straight, each round. Right now, rounds 2-5 require dropping to the knees after 10-15 pushups. I'd rather keep going then rest up just to get a full pushup in.
After that, I rested up, packed some more sand into the sandbag and did 5 60 yard carries. 30 yards there and back. Drop and rest when needed. It took me 8 lifts to make the five trips. 5 would have been perfect, since I rest each time back.
I didn't weight the bag until I was done. It weighed 160lbs. Which is a total coincidence...
Stretching! Yes. I'm doing it daily!
That's that. Hopefully, I'll have my vertical leap plan planned out by tomorrow. I want to squat!
I think it's too soon to tell for sure on the body comp over the long haul. I'm back at 189, which may just be the almost daily dose of carbs (corn tortillas, rice, and periodic bread or bun). Plus more fruit. But, despite the carbs, my pants are pretty loose and I don't feel or see any fat gain.
I have to admit that it's nice to be able to go out and have what normal people would consider healthy food. Still, it's pretty healthy stuff, and the rest of my day is P, F, and veggies or fruit. And, I'm on the eat four times per day routine. So far, so good.
I'd considering tracking foods/calories, but the thought of it sounds stressful again. Thinking back, the good ol' days were not as good as I'd remembered. More obsessive than anything. Not sure I want THAT back.
I so love reading your common sense on food issues. I'm trying to find balance myself between doing what's good and what feels natural/doable. (The most difficult thing for me is portion sizes. Oink!)
Anyway, I'm watching and taking notes so be a nice little hero and set a good example!

Thanks. Portions are an issue with me, too. I'm pretty much always hungry, too. That sucks.
Workout done. My squats felt all wonky. I was playing around with a lower bar, wider and narrower stance, etc. About the last set, I felt good about things. Hopefully next week, I'll start off strong.
Rope warmup
A, Squat (singles), 275, 285, 275, 275, 275, 275
B1, Squat, 5x5, 245/235/235/235/235
B2, BO Row, 5x5, 185
Hey LD, the workouts are looking good. I've always liked Ross' style. Are you going to take up boxing as well? =-)

Jump Rope, 2 minutes. I just couldn't do it any longer than that. My legs were shaking.
The Zubaz guys were back. One talked to me quite extensively. I got a close up look at his ensemble. Zubaz, trucker hat, do rag, lifting belt, wrist wrap gloves, van dyke, pony tail, ear hair, tank top, etc.

Sweet! It must be the week. There was a lady lifting in a combo bra top/short thing that was kind of a Hawaiian print but done up in only fuschia & purple. The "SUN FUN" letters across the front set it off perfectly! I tried to not say anything, but one of my training partners mentioned it in my ear (we could see the woman in the mirrors) so I knew it just wasn't my warped sense of 1993 cattiness.
Is everything feeling good in your workouts? That's what counts most.
Today, I did the Sand Challenge bootcamp down in Long Beach. It's been a while. I did very, very well on the stairs and dunes, but on the last run (about a mile?), I started off too fast to try to keep up with the leaders and sucked wind early.
How far is the Sand Challenge, anyway? I'm gonna suck when I finally get to run again. I know the feeling.
It's always different. Today we ran about 2 miles, but it was pretty broken up. 1/4 mile, squats, pushups, 1/4 mile, then run the dunes, 1/4 mile, run stairs, 1/4 mile, lunges and abs crap, 1 mile run to end it.
About 1/2 was on sand, the last mile was on the path.
I think 2 miles total is about average. The longest without him announcing the longness ahead of time has been 5k total for the day.

I think I have plantar fasciatis. My heal hurts when after I jump rope. When I woke up, it killed. I thought it was a bruise, but after a little googling, I'm thinking it's from all the rope.
Going to cut back on the rope, do some extra ice and stretching and rolling of the foot, calves, and dorsiflexors to see if I can nip it in the bud.

Tennis balls are your friend. Oh yeah, and be careful when you get out of bed. Hurts like a bitch when you have PF AND it perpetuates the issue.
If you ice it and roll aggressively, you can knock it out pretty quick, Roland. GLad you didn't keep jumping rope on it.
