My post workout jumproping is better than the warmup jumproping. I don't know how that can be. Also, my squats were really smooth after the rope jumping. I didn't really stretch or pry much, either. The jumprope is a miracle and mystery in one.
It always hurts a little bit. But it's never really bad. It hurts the worst getting out of the car or getting up off the ground.
Hey, those 300 guys were there again, tonight. They just don't have any oomph. They do the box jumps like they have all the time in the world. How does that train you to do them better in the 300 workout?
Kiddies and I are taking a fast weekend trip, so I won't be on to check on you, but I will definitely remember to ask RL how you're doing. If need be, I can get on in AR to kick yer butt...so take care!
Damn nice squats Roland. Why do you do 7 sets of 4? I tend to do low sets and high reps and was wondering what the differences were about. Oh yeah and good luck on the MRA. I hate anything to do with Doctors.
Done with the MRIs. Not as painful as I was led to believe.
1st MRI without the fluid pumped in. I took a nap in there, but I woke up a little tingly. These things vibrate very pleasantly. If you catch my drift...
Xray and fluid injection of a contrast agent. There was a local anesthetic first, then the contrast agent. I got to watch it squirt in on the xray machine. Pretty weird to watch. The fluid does two things, if I understood correctly. Separates/spreads the joint for a better view and fills in gaps, tears, lesions, etc. with the contrast agent for a better view of the damage.
2nd and 3rd MRI with the fluid pumped in. 20 minutes, this time. Again with the nap. This second machine was way louder than the first one. On the plus side, the vibrations are extra special. An MRI is highly recommended.

I have 3-4 different squats going on in this routine. 6x4 (building up to 8x4), in this case. I'd rather mix up the rep ranges within the week, rather than keep them similar and change the rep ranges every month for the whole routine.
Conjugate periodization, it's called. Training different aspects in a given period of time.

That's at least a week. Do I have to wait that long?

That's a pretty expensive happy ending. There are probably places you can buy one of those without having the hassle of filing all those insurance forms.
1. A trainer actually working up a sweat with a client. Sprinting, lunging, and med ball tossing. Then when they were done, he changed and worked out himself.
2. A lady in the cardio room with us, talked on her phone the entire time I was in there. She did step ups/downs on and off of the stage, which is not even as high as a stair step. Then she strolled around the room, purposefully, like it was a workout. Then she did side steps back and forth. No lunging or anything. Just sorta stepping to the side and coming back. Repeat all this crap, like 20 times, all while talking on her phone. Oh, she was chubby and not sweating or panting.
Glad you enjoyed your MRI. Hope you can find an excuse to get another one?
It must have been the night for trainers. I overheard one tell a client that he was going to show him a good alternative for when he didn't like using the shoulder press machine -- you can mix it up a bit by using dbs! (novel idea!) He even mentioned that "some people think it works the muscles better, but that's a personal choice."
Sounds like your MRI was a lot more fun than mine. I had no nap, no "tingliness." It actually felt more like sensory deprivation to me.
Hope the doc's able to figure things out. Keep us posted.

I bloodied my left knuckles and cut one left fingertip during some sandbag shoulders AND ripped part of my thumbnail on my right hand. Add in my ripped callus from yesterday, plus a cut on my right thumb and my hands are just plain f'd up. I read in Men's Fitness, a suggestion for a manicure and clearcoat. That's what the ladies like? I'm fucked.

Hmm that's the sort of thing everyone with a black eye says....

That's all. I tore a callous from my hand on the snatches and broke my rope on the jumping. Time to order a Buddy Lee rope.

Well, I'm not typical, probably, but if a dude's hands looked better than mine, I'd NEVER date him.
(This left out about 95% of the eligible males in the world when I was still in the dating (shark-infested) pool, btw, since my hands are beat to shit, too.)
