Man I used to love R-ball. When I moved up here to STL like no one plays it anymore. I was able to locate only about 2 well formed leagues in the whole city, one is ridiculously priced, the other is about an hour and a half from my house.

Ok. Many days of very little upper body work. If I think of it as leg specialization, it's less depressing.
To give my shoulders a rest, I've been squatting with machines. Yay. It's fine and all. I can go waaaaaaay deeper with a machine, so I might find a little extra growth.
I've also been doing lots of single leg work. Asst pistols, lunges, King DLs, etc.
I'll have to post the "routine" when I get some time. But, it hasn't been all that exciting to post my crippled numbers. Basically, I've been doing ass days and quad days. Each has fun upper body isolation exercises thrown in for fun. Curls and tricep stuff. No pressing or arms raised at all.
The weird part is that my chest is sore today. From what? What could I have done to my pecs to make them sore? Is it from tensing up or something? Strange.
My DL numbers are fine and my squat should be good when I use the bar next. Next week sometime. Maybe I'll hit that 300?
Anyhow. My legs are going to freakin' huge!
Today, for fun, I decided to spend the whole time squatting in the hack squat machine. Ass to heals. I really have no idea how much the sled for the machine weighs, so this is just the added weight.
4x4, +140
5x5, +110
6x6, +90
3x7, +70
That's that.
Oh, yesterday was ass day. Some box jumps at 30 inches, 30 GHRs, and some RDLs. Curls, of course...
Have you received a diagnosis on your shoulder yet? I can sympathize with the leg-only workouts. I was stuck on that for nearly 10 months. I got SO sick of the stationary bike!
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Jeez. You make me out to be some ultra sensitive guy... Now stop, before you make me cry.
I went for that 300 squat today and chickened out. I had 305 and it just felt wrong (meaning scary) when I was down there. I got close to parallel and then came back up. I ended up doing a lot of over 90% lifts. I have to build my confidence. 295 was really hard. I'm sure I could have done the 305 if I wasn't a pussy.
Then again, maybe you just properly listened to your body.
That seems unlikely. Usually, when my body makes noise, it's something else.

So, this weekend, we rented Ratatouille. My son and I talked about making some ratatouille. So, I found an associated recipe.
Why the hell John Ratzenberger has a Ratatouille ratatouille recipe is beyond me. Because he's in the movie? He was the voice of Mufasa. I don't even remember that part. Isn't that Simba's dad? And, isn't it supposed to be James Earl Jones? Not Cliff from Cheers?
Anyhow, here's the most official Ratatouille related ratatouille recipe that I found. Tony looked at it and said "no" and we made steak and sausage, instead.
It looks good to me. Maybe with some steak and sausage?
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, chopped into chunks 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 small red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares 1 small yellow bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares 1 small green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares 1½ pounds fresh tomatoes coarsely chopped (leave in skins and seeds) 1 small can tomato paste ½ teaspoon dried thyme ½ teaspoon dried rosemary 1 teaspoon dried basil 1 dried bay leaf 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon pepper 1 medium eggplant, unpeeled, cut into chunks 2 average zucchini, unpeeled, cut into chunks
Heat oil in a large pot with a heavy bottom over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent, then add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Once onions are a light golden color, add peppers and cook for five minutes. Mix in tomatoes, tomato paste, thyme, rosemary, basil, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Then add eggplant and zucchini and cook for about 5 minutes.
Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender -- about 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf and enjoy!
Cook's note: This dish is even better the next day!!

Samantha was DYING to make pumpkin cookies last year, so while she and a friend were upstairs playing I "whipped" 'em up. She didn't even properly look at them before her nose was turned up. Annoying.
Snake story was FUNNY!
Super Why is about 10sec delay between sound and visual this morning...it's so bad the kids want to know what's wrong!? Annoying PBS!
Not the right poetry and the right environment ... maybe all that coffeehouse open-mike night poetry has warped you ...
Yeah that and Tina's right, you must not forget your ability to decorate
that is a good asset to have

A very cute college girl read her poetry about various sexual encounters. We would have given her a standing ovation, but we couldn't.
Now that's funny.

Thanks. I'll bet if I was in a real gym with guys egging me on I'd have done that 305.
I'm fairly confident that I'm in the top 95% of the 24 Hour Fitness membership when it comes to squatting. For DLs, I'll bet I'm top 99.something, since almost no one deadlifts. I've seen one guy do a decent job at 5 reps at 275. That's the only other guy I've seen DL more than 135.
Speaking of which... Today was ASS DAY!
Got in some over 90% lifts today. I'm going with 395 as my 1RM, since I tried for 405 and no budgie. It did rattle a bit.
Yesterday\'s squat marathon is making walking up stairs fun. My calves are particularly sore. What\'s with that?
Squats use the calves?
I\'m pretty sure they do anyway, my calves have grown a fair bit with only squats and deadlifts, barely ever did a single calf raise, as they suck, and i don\'t really give a crap about my calf size.

Ha!
I used to do calf raises. I used to do a lot of Waterbury programs, and they have a shit load of calf work in them. Makes me wonder what CW's hiding under those track pants and baggy socks.
Anyhow, my calves are pretty big compared to the rest of me. Plus, I can max out some of the plate loaded seated calf raise stations. Talk about a pain in the ass. Try loading and unloading that thing every week. Six or eight plates laying flat on top of each other? No thanks.
I don\'t know why you\'d even bother loading that machine haha, calf work sucks - it\'s really boring, unsatisfying, and you don\'t care about the results(if any) as you probably won\'t notice anything - kinda similar to the way ab work sucks.

Good thing your wardrobe doesn't include knee high boots that have a zipper then....
I mean, I ASSUME that your wardrobe doesn't include this particular item. Zappos does have some big sizes though....
