A, BB Split Squats, 185 (3/3/3)
B, Rack Pulls/above knee, 405 (3), 455 (2/1), 425 (3/3/3)
C, Rack Pulls/above knee, 365 (11/10/10)
D, DB BSS, 40s (5/8/8) - balance was the issue on that first set
It was very difficult to walk up the stairs after this workout. Walking back down was worse. It made me wish I had taken the elevator (yes, there is an elevator).
My entire B-D workout featured a guy in the squat rack next to me doing bb curls with nothing but the bar. He was barely able to get that bar up, too. He should have been curling about 35-40 based on that hip check. He kept walking away, with a Rainman-esq headtilt along the way, to do something, which I assumed was something supersettish. Turns out it was a superset, but it was a superset of hip rockin' db curls, also with too much weight. He did that back and forth about 10 times! Ten! In between, his rest periods were spent in a mirrored corner, where he stood with his palms against the walls, dodging slowly around to catch his own glimpse of awesomeness. Periodically, he adjusted his unit.
I think he is more modeling the strawberry shortcake. Doesn't really look like he is holding the fork in a way, where he intends to actually take a bite.
It's like those skinny people that walk around with food in their hand, as though they are eating.
It's an obvious set up.
*Nice before/after pics

I actually did find that first exercise video that you used, Roland, to jump start your weight loss. I know that different videos work for different people and I do notice, that this video very much incorporates squats. I guess it was a good way to start. (sorry, I don't know how to embed it, you can if you wanna )
can i take part in a tug of war workout if i come out to CA?
absolutely!

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.
I had this song in my head all day yesterday. And then all of a sudden I had the theme to "The Loveboat" in my head. And I blame you for this.
It's just more evidence that the Lost Dog Log giveth, and clearly the Lost Dog Log taketh away.
I read some older posts about loose skin. I'm seeing that in myself now. In posts back in 2005 you mentioned that you still had some issues with loose skin. Over the last few years have you seen the skin tightening up? In other words....will this loose skin go away?

do you guys have any strongman stuff at the gym, Roland? Yokes, farmers, etc?
At my gym we've got a trap bar for farmer carries, thick handle DBs, but no yokes - which I don't think would be needed, nor advised for most. Got sleds, O bars, ropes, kbs, rings etc.... and we've got the beach with lots of space, climbing ropes, rings.
A west coast event would be cool. Lots of good potential speakers within an hour drive.

Forgot about the ropes! My hands held up nicely this time, although I was doing fingertip chinups at the end because my grip was shot!
There's a lot of West Coast possibility!

Not specifically strongman. They have some pretty cool stuff in the area. I think a lot of it has been brought into the gym by guys like Chris. I don't think that trap bar just showed up without some pushing.
It's cool to be able to go down to the Santa Monica beach area, where they have climbing ropes and bars right there in the sand.

Go to Profile and scroll all the way down. There's a "Public Settings Page" link to click. Once you enable that, it provides you with a link that you can share with people.

I'm normal, too! Things are expensive in general, but there are also tons of non-expensive places. There's every level of hotel and restaurant, from luxury to budget available. Usually within walking distance of each other.
Also, LA and OC aren't just the places we show on TV. There are great locations for hanging out with a big group of friends, training, eating, and learning that can very reasonable and still close to the airport. It's the tourists coming in for tourist stuff that tend to find the big ticket areas. If we all stayed near Disneyland, we'd pay A LOT, for instance.
I just read your sig...awesome!!! Hmmmm...it seems i incited some West Coast riot in here...lets see if it sticks! Silly peoples...you can go anywhere in the world on a budget.... Besides then we could have our own competition on the beach...couples or teams??? Hmmmmmm...?????
This marks the third time I've tossed out the idea of a Charlotte-area mini-summit as well. The last two were a little contingent on other people's involvement, but I've put together a gathering of far-flung people before. Don't tempt me
