No team vibrams here. Ed hated the stuff-between-toe feeling. We would love to do the couples fitness competition, but so far my private plane hasn't materialized. Have fun!
My parents dress alike frequently, but not on purpose. They've been married for 45 years this year, so I guess you just get to sort of like the same things after a while.
Take some good video tomorrow!! And some photos. And the double foot shot should be your new avi!!
Miss you both!!
PS: How are things with the new stretches?

The competition was great fun. Gal and I won the KB Jerk event. She jerked a 8kg bell 112 times and I jerked two 16kg bells at least 52 times (I forget). Gal got more than anyone else.
We did pretty well in everything. I choked on the pullup/inverted row event. I should have been able to get a lot more in the minute, but they were soooo hard today.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how we did.
Saw Chris (obviously), plus Alan (Aragon) and his wife and kids came out to watch, hang, and eat lunch. Fun day!

Chris has video, so hopefully he'll get some good stuff up there.
Okay, I've been doing the butt to the wall thing, but could you remind me the other ones? I know the downward dog thing... Maybe it would be easier to tell me over the phone. I can call you on Tuesday sometime. It would be nice to chat, too.
Miss you, too. Wish the summit was longer so we'd have had more time.
Before she left, Gal tested my bodyfat and it came to 9.2% I'll take that. It falls in line with Alan's guess and the testing that trainers did at my gym (two independent caliper tests). My Tanita still says 17%, btw.
Thanks again for coming up and participating Saturday, AND for helping shoot video. You and Galya did great, and I'm happy you guys won the KB jerk event. Lots of BAD technique demonstrated by other people, especially the trainers. You guys had the best technique, thus you won.
Finished editing video at 2 this morning so it will be up on YouTube today.

Thanks! Looking forward to the video!
Do those trainers teach others to use the KBs? Maybe you need to hold a little workshop for them.

Nope. Mine's pretty basic. I only bought it because it was the same price as the non-body fat measuring ones at the time.
It used to work when I was fatter. It went pretty steadily from 18% down to 13, then just hung out there at 12-13 forever, even as I got leaner. Then it started going back up!

The video is up in the training forum.
And yes some of them do use KBs with clients (thankfully only basic stuff like swings, getups). I just did a teaching workshop for staff last week and will do more - they need it!

As long as they keep to the basics, I'm sure it's fun for the clients to use them. It's fun for me, at least.
Thanks! It was a lot of fun. We haven't had a lot of uploading time, but I think there are some good pics to post!
Today's Gal's last day here, so bye bye for today.
When will Galya be here to stay? Or are you going to be travelling back & forth forever?

Since I'm relying on the Omron very much (maybe too much) as it has been very reliable for me most of the time but have seen others complain that it didn't make any sense at all.. I just had to comment.
The person for whom it didn't make sense got DEXA'd at around 15% (don't remember exactly) while her BIA consistently told her 25-something%.
Since I got a bit of a scare today and was seeing bf% trending upwards (yeah, carb intake is going down so it's probably just because of dehydration) I was thinking out loud and came up with the following explanation (outside dehydration).
"I'm having a hunch this may be because BIA measures just subcutaneous fat and not visceral fat (assuming a fixed % relative to age /sex) and what may happen is that when you get leaner.. your body may deposit extra fat under the skin? Or retain water... to give better protection? "
Would this make better sense?
For the record, I've noticed that when we (me & SO) were more diligent about caliper measurements, my skinfolds would go up shortly after resuming exercise and down when I was not training for a while.. this is plain subcutaneous water retention.. this also influences BIA-readings.
If the subcutaneous layer would not get thicker due to better protection there's still other factors influencing increased/decreased skin caliper thickness.
