yeah its an awesome book, and a very good/intense program. If anything it will make sure you are correctly doing the majority of the "money" lifts.

No workout today. . . the gym was closed. But who knows, maybe this will help out in the long run. I definitely don't think that I am in need of a week-long deload but this extra couple days rest cannot hurt at all. I'll resume lifting on Wednesday simply to keep with my M/W/F schedule.

Also I'm going to prioritize deadlifts during that respective workout. I'll put deadlifts first and follow it with bench press and then squat last. I hope that will allow me to make some progress, and I don't really think that it should affect my squat progression much, if at all. I do know that when it comes time to do deadlifts I'm damn tired from squatting.

Enough rambling, be back Wednesday.

couple days rest I think did a lot of good. . . . I'm ready for a good session this afternoon after I get out of work.

Starting Strength: Workout B

*dynamic warmup*

A) Squat: 195 x 4/3/3 (+5 lbs)

B) Press: 95 x 5/5/4 (level performance)

C) Chins: BW x 8/7/5 (level performance)

D) Face Pulls: didn't log

Notes

* squats were hard, but my form was really, really solid.

* not surprised that my performance on the press and chins stayed level, I'm not terribly disappointed with that all. I will nail more reps next time.

* added some face pulls after the core session. I don't think that adding some pre-hab stuff is ever a bad idea, especially within the shoulder region.

* I'm going to deload on the deadlift come Friday. I think that this will be the best option to regain solid linear progression. I probably got too greedy in my addition of weight and it backfired on me. So that is definitely a lesson learned.

surprisingly I was a bit sore today. . . I felt it in my triceps, hamstrings/glutes and abdominals. Huh!

I'm SOOOO! ready for tomorrow's session. Probably should weigh myself here in the next couple days to see if I'm gaining weight.

sure am! I'm going to deload on them and also prioritize them by doing them first in the workout. I'll see how that goes, to be honest I don't think it will affect my squat progression that much.

thoughts/comments?

Starting Strength: Workout A

*generic warmup
*dynamic flexibility

Deadlift: 205 x 5

Bench: 145 x 4/4/4

Squat: 195 x 4/4/4 (+2 reps)

* this wasn't bad at all. . . energy and intensity were definitely there. so on that alone I am pleased.

* deadlift still needs some improvement, so its gotta be a form issue that I'm dealing with. I'm going to re-read that chapter in Starting Strength and watch the Elite DVD on the squat/deadlift again. I'll probably hit up some of the recent Cressey deadlift material. I've got some homework to do, LOL. I know I should film my form, but I just don't have access to a recorder.

* bench was good. . . its amazing how keeping the shoulders "pinched" (lack of a better word) and keeping a nice arch in your back can add stability to the lift. I'll nail all reps next time I bench.

* Squats were hard, nothing more. . . . LOL

* time to eat a ton, shower and head off to work. I love the 11:30-8 shift.

Starting Strength: Workout B

Squat: 195 x 5/5/5 (+3 total reps)

Overhead Press: 95 x 5/5/5 (+1 total rep)

Pullups: BW x 6/6/6 (level)

Notes

* Hey I'll take it. . . . . I improved in the first two lifts, and stayed level on pullups, while weighing more. . . so that's a victory as well.

* Squats were solid.

* Last rep of OHP was a grinder, not gonna lie.

* I'm content. . . now I just gotta figure out my DL problem. Its gotta be setup position.

I know I should, but I just don't have access to a vid recorder. . . . If I did I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Starting Strength: Workout A

*dynamic mobility* (4-5 moves focusing on hips)

Squat: 200 x 4/4/4 (+5 lbs)

Bench: 145 x 5/4/4 (+1 rep). . . didn't feel good

DL: 210 x 5 (+ 5 lbs)

Notes:

* squats were awesome, PA I'm gunning for ya I think I see ya up there somewhere.

* bench is pathetic, I just cannot keep a solid setup. . . today I had trouble keeping my shoulders back, and the arch in my back. I'm gonna switch to DB's for a while because I don't think I'm doing my shoulders any good. maybe some light form work with after my work sets with DBs, and move back to BB bench when I've got it down.

* DL form was better, I still need to perfect it. . . or maybe I just need to improve my posterior chain strength. Still gonna do some homework on this one.

* Thanks to those who check in and read all of my ramblings!

do you have a spotter when you bench? I find getting someone to give me a liftoff makes a big difference.

thanks man. . . in the grand scheme of things I'm progressing pretty damn good. I just wanna nail my form on both the bench and deadlift. I think I'm on the right track with deads, but bench press seems all over the place. If anything I'll add in some face pulls to keep everything healthy.

curse you long arms! hahahahaha

A buddy of mine used to be there most days I would bench, but I haven't for the last few bench sessions. . . maybe I just need to not be a pansy and ask somebody who's there.
