A friend of mine just got a job at a winery here in PA. She was kind enough to pick up a bottle of their cabernet sauvignon which I hope to try soon.

Possibly. I just can't get into it. I really like fruit deserts and sweet, sweet chocolate cake. Cheesecake just doesn't have the overpowering sweetness that goes so well with black coffee.

Does Mrs. gobbla like it? Try it on your anniversary with the champagne.

Melissa loves it. She's a freak though. She doesn't like chocolate. If we weren't already married when I found that out that'd have been a game breaker.

Paula> I'll keep an eye out for Primus wines. I've heard of Primus Vinyards, but have not tried their wines. I'll look for some & give it a try.
gobbla> Cheesecake is good with champagne as LD suggests. Score some points with the Mrs. next time she buys cheesecake and give her a glass of champagne to go with it....And, try some yourself!

Today's workout.....It was tough!
TT August DB-KB-BW Fusion Workout C
Warm-up circuit of twice through –
Prisoner Squat – 10
Pushups – 8
Reverse Lunge – 8/leg
Spiderman climb – 5/side
The workout calls for 3 sets of the following supersets, no rest between A&B and 1 minute before repeating superset….
Exercise – prescribed reps (actual performance)
1A) DB Close-Stance Split Squat - 8/side (15 lb DB, 8,8,8)
1B) Block Pushup – 15 (15,15,12)
2A) DB Chest Press – 8 (25 lb DB 8,8,8)
2B) 1-Leg Deadlift – 8/side (8,8,8/side)
3A) DB Deep Step-up – 12/side (20 lb DB 12,12,12,)
3B) T-Pushup – 10/side (10,8,4/side)
4A) DB Rear Deltoid Raise – 12 (10 lb DB 12,12,12)
4B) 1-Leg Calf Rise – 10/side (15 lb DB 10,10,10)
5A) DB Curl – 10 (20 lb DB, 10,10,10)
5B) Close-Grip Elevated Pushup – 10/side (8,6,5/side)
I managed to reduce my loads enough to get 3 sets in although there was no way I could get through all those pushups…… By the time I got to the close-grip elevated pushups at the end, I really didn’t think I could do any more.
I did get though it …well, mostly…and I think I have a much better handle on loading. I’ll start the August TT workout in earnest later this week. After a trial run through each, I’m really interested in seeing how much I can progress with it over the next 4 weeks.
On to my massage........

Egham, you stud muffin! That workout is insane, but you did it. Have you tried the intervals, too? The last one looks interesting...
I can't wait to see how much you progress after 4 weeks!

Great workout Egham - it's posts like that that make me want to try things other than NROL. Which I may just do since TT apparently can get the job done with dumbbells, kettlebells and bodyweight.

After watching how you like to mix things up, I think you'd like it. Give it a try!

Thanks, but.....Moi?!!!......I'm more a stale, crusty old bran muffin that's starting to grow mold..... Yes, I did it and I'm paying for it today although not as painfully as I had feared, so maybe that's a good sign that I am getting into better shape. And.......No, I haven't tried the intervals yet. I was thinking about doing the Day 6 intervals today, but I'm not ready to face more push-ups. I went out for a 5-mile run instead.

Yea, that "no rest" stuff really changes the character of a workout. The massage was great!

I got a lot out of NROL but after nearly a year of going to the gym on a regular basis to lift, I was ready for a change. Given Mrs. Egham's unpredicable vertigo problems, I was also wanting to find something that I could do at home. I had been doing the TT BW exercises when I travel and liked those, so TT was an easy choice.
Craig offers a wide range of workouts on his web-site and keeps publishing new ones monthly. There seems to be something there for just about anybody and no two that I've looked at so far are alike. Just about all of them can be done at home if you have a decent set of dumbbells and a good bench. I imagine I'll likely return to NROL eventually, but for the next several months (at least) I'm going to have fun with TT.

I tried Jill's TRX Workout #3 today. Here's what I posted in the TRX Hangout thread -
Quote:
OK, did Workout 3 today.....
TRX Workout #3
A1: Assisted Pistols 4-6 reps per leg (6,6,6)
A2: Mountain Climbers 10 per side (10,10,10)
B1: Suspended Flat Pushups 8-12 reps or as many as possible (10,10,8)
B2: Tuck Jumps 10 reps (10,10,10) Fun!
C1: Rows 8-12 reps or AMAP (12,12,12)
C2: Scissor Jumps (aka jumping lunges) 10 per side (10,10,6) Real B*tches!!!
D1: Ab Rollouts 8-12 reps (12,12,10)
D2: Suspended Pike (no Abduction) - 8-12 (10,10,and....just barely...10)
WOW! It was indeed quick, but what a workout! Those scissor lunges are NOT among my friends and I don't want to know where my HR went.
However, I really feel as if I've done something.....Despite the totally beat feeling, it was fun. Thanks, Jill!

This was tough. I seemed to make it through the first two rounds just fine and then, when I started flagging when I hit the last round of push-ups. My legs simply did not want to do the last set of scissor jumps and it was all I could do to force 6 out of them.
I think I'll go float in the lake.........

So funny.... avoiding pushups by running five miles. I call "masochist"!
Nice workouts, Egham!

Very nice on the TRX Egham! Now that you've used it a few times, do you like it as part of your arsenal?

August 17
I officially started the August TT DB, KB, BW Fusion Workout today.....I just finished Workout 1 and am trying to catch my breath as I type. This is the first time in a long while that I've actually felt I was on the verge of vomiting towards the end of the workout. Maybe I should have waited another day after the tough TRX workout yesterday, but I felt pretty good today....Just a bit of core area soreness. Surprisingly, my legs felt great! I may have fixed that with this workout....We'll see tomorrow.
The work out starts with two sets of the following as warm-up
Prisoner Squat – 10
Pushups – 8
Reverse Lunge – 8/leg
Spiderman climb – 5/side
and followed up with 3 sets of the the following supersets (Each superset is repeated 3 times before moving on to the next superset; 30 sec rest between 1A and 1B with a 60 rest between repeats....No rest between 2A & 2B or 3A & 3B) –
1A) 1 leg squat w/ KB or DB - 6/leg (6,6,6 - 30 lb dbs)
1B) DB incline press – 8 (10,10,10 - 45 lb dbs) Somehow, "10" got stuck in my brain"
2A) 1-leg RDL w/KB or DB - 10/leg (10,10, 10 - 45 lb dbs)
2B) DB or KB Row – 8-12/arm (12,12,12 - 45 lb dbs)
3A) DB or KB Squat – 20 (50, 40, 40 lb dbs)
3B) Decline Push-up – 20 (15,15,12)
I did boost the loads from my trial run though this a couple of weeks ago. I had to drop back in the DB squat, though.......20 reps is A LOT! No real problems although I was shakier on the 1-legged exercises than normal...Perhaps an aftereffect of yesterday's TRX workout?
Intervals after it cools down a bit this evening.
