I thought about that, but then I imagined pulling the stupid thing right down onto me. Is that possible?

I'm just warning you guys...Julie has whipped up what looks like a brutal TRX workout for all of us! I'm going to test drive it and post it tomorrow afternoon.

Just for you Victoria...

TRX Workout #5 - UConnJulie's Revenge

A1: Sprinter's Start 8-12 per leg w/hop optional
A2: KB/DB Snatch from Dead 4-6 per arm
A3: Box Jumps or Squat Jumps 8-12

B1: Suspended Lunge 8-12 per side
B2: KB/DB Face Pulls 8-12
B3: Burpees or Squat Thrust 8-12

C1: Power Pull 8-12 per side - see explanation below
C2: KB/DB Clean and Press 4-6 per side
C3: Tuck Jumps 8-12

D: Suspended Plank - 1 minute hold

Okay, this is one of Julie's...I've never done this one before. Per her explantation, you hold TRX with one hand and start with that arm extended and you are sort of like a letter T with one hand facing the floor and the other holding the TRX. Then you rotate and reach along the TRX while pulling with the other hand. If you click the video I provided, you can see. If anyone else can explain it better, please feel free.

I also can't find a video of a face pull w/Dumbbells. I'll be back with something later...

Oh boy....I had to ask! Looks tough!!! Thanks for posting it, Jill.

Ok, so I've been experimenting with hooking it up to the Smith machine. I have to admit, I keep thinking I'm going to pull the darn thing over. But, after trying a few of the exercises, it feels stable enough.

I tried two different ways of hooking it up. Which one looks the best?

Like this.....

Or, like this....

smith machine isn't that heavy. If the smith has a pulley, i would load some on it before doing them.

JULIE!!! What did I ever do to you?!!! This whooped my a$$!!! Nicely done, Jules!

TRX Workout #5 - UConnJulie's Revenge

Three circuits of each. No rest between exercises, 0-60 seconds rest between supersets (well....maybe 60-90 secs toward the end).

A1: Sprinter's Start 12 reps per leg-no hop
A2: KB/DB Snatch from Dead (sub'd DB DLs w/ 20# dbs) 12 reps
A3: Squat Jumps 12 reps

B1: Suspended Lunge 12 reps per side
B2: KB/DB Face Pulls 12 reps (sub'd Band Pulls)
B3: Burpees w/ vertical jump 12 reps

C1: Power Pull 12 reps per side
C2: KB/DB Clean and Press (sub'd DB push presses w/ 15# dbs) 12 reps
C3: Tuck Jumps 12 reps

D: Suspended Plank - 1 minute hold FORGOT!

Notes: This was a very challenging workout. Those doing the Ross workouts will probably have an easier time, but this really whooped me. I made a few substitutions as noted.

I used a couple broomsticks for support on my first round of suspended lunges with my left leg. Balance just sucks with that one. But, I ditched them for the remaining two sets and found pretty good balance. I was afraid of falling which could have been ugly with all the equipment around me.

I've never done tuck jumps before so they were not pretty at all. My knees only got half way up to my chest...probably because I couldn't get enough hang time for full tucks. Toward the end of that last set, the tucks disappeared all together. Then, I completely forgot about the plank at the end...!

Anyway, fun workout. I decided to try it attached to the Smith machine and it worked out well. I loaded the pulley with 140 lbs. of weight and it was pretty stable. Next Saturday I'm going to try a Ross workout!

I finally did Jill's TRX Workout # 1 today, and I must say that I really did enjoy it even if it did leave me totally beat.

TRX Workout #1

3 circuits of each superset below. No rest between exercises (other than setup) and 0-60 seconds rest between circuits.

A1: Assisted Pistols 4-6 reps per leg (6,6,6)
A2: Ab Rollouts 4-6 reps (6,6,6)

B1: Suspended Flat Pushups 8-12 reps (12,12,12)
B2: Balance Lunge 8-12 per leg (12,12,12)

C1: Rows 8-12 reps (12,12,12)
C2: Hip Press 8-12 reps (12,12,10 These were particularly tough.)

D: Suspended Side Plank w/8 touches per side or 30 seconds hold per side (only done once) - (30 sec/side)

I like the way one can alter angles, etc. to increase difficulty....Sign of progress?

You did a super job with this one Jill. Thanks!

The sprinter thing is a lot harder than it looks. I did some hopping, some not. That's really a lot of leg stuff, right there.

Between almost falling down with the lunges and throwing myself down with the burpees, I felt good. good like I might die. Up yours. I did trx face pulls, instead, since I only had a sandbag with me.

The power pulls are a good one. Very hard and challenging. The sandbag cleans are a lot harder on sand. On solid land, I can do a lot more than 6. The tuck jumps were not pretty. I did them in sand, too.

Crap. I forgot my plank at the park. Didn't do it. I collapsed after the last tuck jump, in the sand, in the dark, missing the towel, and getting sandy butt. Spaced on the plank.

JULIE!!!

WHAT did we ever do to you?!!!? Whatever it was, you got your revenge alright. Whew.........

TRX Workout #5 - UConnJulie's Revenge

Three circuits of each. No rest between exercises, 0-60 seconds rest between supersets (well....maybe 60-90 secs toward the end).

A1: Sprinter's Start no hop 12,12,12/leg
A2: KB/DB Snatch from Dead DB 35 lb 6,6,6/side
A3: Squat Jumps 12,12,12

B1: Suspended Lunge 12,12,12/side
B2: KB/DB Face Pulls sub’d TRX Face Pulls - 12,12,12 (sorry, wanted to play more with the TRX)
B3: Burpees 12,12,12

C1: Power Pull 12,12,12 /side
C2: KB/DB Clean and Press DB 30 lb 6,6,6/side
C3: Tuck Jumps 12 reps 12,12,12

D: Suspended Plank - 1 minute hold (Didn’t forget)

Those sprinter’s starts are tough!

I was, however, pleased with my progress on the suspended lunges, I had done them in a couple of earlier workouts from the TRX Military Fitness Manual and had balance problems….Not today.

Need to work on bringing my knees up to my chest better in the Tuck Jumps…..Too inconsistent today, perhaps fatigue from everything that went before.

Julie, that was one
