I'm cooking up workout #3 and will test drive it this afternoon before posting. I'm thinking of combining TRX exercises with some nice bodyweight stuff.

Sounds great! I feel so bad, I just haven't had the mental energy to get it going this week and try the darn thing! But, I'm going to try to incorporate TRX into my weekly schedule when I start again next week!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

The first two times I used it, I just hooked it up and saw what I could do. No plan at all. Got comfortable with it. The next days, I felt like I'd had a workout, anyway. Just play when you can.

I like that (and not in a perverted sense!) Maybe I'll give it a go later this afternoon, just see how it feels....thanks, LD.

TRX Workout #3
A1: Assisted Pistols 4-6 reps per leg
A2: Mountain Climbers 10 per side
B1: Suspended Flat Pushups 8-12 reps or as many as possible (substitute chest presses if you can't do flat pushups. These are pushups with your hands in the handles and your feet on the ground)
B2: Tuck Jumps 10 reps
C1: Rows 8-12 reps or AMAP (you can do these all the way up to suspended rows)
C2: Scissor Jumps (aka jumping lunges) 10 per side
D1: Ab Rollouts 8-12 reps
D2: Suspended Pike (w/Abduction optional) - 8-12
The suspended pike w/abduction is something I saw someone doing at the gym. He started in a suspended pushup position (feet in handles, hands on ground, not elbows as in the video). He did the pike, and once the pike was done, he open and closed legs and then did the next rep. It's pretty darn hard.
This is a really quick workout, but it was hard! Scissor jumps were killing me.

I finally tried the TRX tonight. Wow.....what a workout. Well, I didn't actually do a structured workout, just went through and tried all the exercises in Workout #1 two or three times, plus most of the exercises in the Military manual. And, I worked up a sweat!
Man, I thought my core was getting pretty strong from all my TT workouts...NOT!!! That really kicked my a$$!!! I did a body plant with the ab rollouts. This was after cycling through all the exercises a couple times so I was getting a bit tired. Got myself into positon, started the first rollout and flopped straight to the ground...ha! I felt the hammies in the hip presses much more than with the stability ball. And, it's really cool to do a pistol...even if it is assisted! I actually feel it a bit in my back right now. I guess it's not as strong as I thought. All in all it is quite challenging...much more than I thought. I like it...it's fun!!!
Jill, thanks a bunch for putting all these workouts together. The links are really helpful, too! I've never seen the tuck jumps or scissor jumps. They look as evil as the burpees....thanks a lot! :p

Great! I'm so glad you like the TRX! I really DOES hit you in the core. You'll also be suprised at how sore you'll be the next day. Muscles that you didn't know existed. So funny about the face plant! Yeah, I think we've all been there. Didn't Roland do a face plant the first time he tried his?

Hmmm, I thought you did.
I know I did. I first learned how to use the TRX from a trainer at my gym. She was teaching me the pushups where you have your feet higher than your head? The TRX was hanging from one of those cable machine towers (pic below). I got into the position by walking my arms back in order to get my feet raised and I did one pushup and lost my balance and hit my head on the cable tower. Unfortunately, I hit my forhead on the little dowels that you hang extra handles and such for the cable grips. So I had this dowel mark in my forehead for a couple days.
See the row of dowels between the two weight stacks below? I rammed forehead first into that. Ouch.

Ok. I did fall once. I forgot about it, but I thought you meant during the rollouts. But, you are right.
It involved having my feet in the handles and them being away from the wall. Pushups with feet up, like in your horrible, yet strangely amusing, head/dowel story (I'm so sorry to hear about the dowel mark).
When I tried to come back down, my feet swung to the left and down, twisting my body and sending me into a spin, landing me on my side and dragging my arm through rocky dirt. There was some blood involved. It has not happened again.

TRX Workout #3
A1: Assisted Pistols 6/6/4 (I now remember doing a lot of bw squats this morning (ouch))
A2: Mountain Climbers 10 per side (never done these before. joy.)
B1: Suspended Flat Pushups 12/12/10
B2: Tuck Jumps 10 reps (the first 4 or 5, you're thinking "whatever." then WHAM! and they suck)
C1: Rows 10/10/9
C2: Scissor Jumps 10 per side (bitch)
D1: Ab Rollouts 8/8/8
D2: Suspended Pike 8/8/8 (no abduction)
I did not time myself, unfortunately. It felt pretty speedy. But, I did A-C with no rest at all, even between supersets. I had to die and come back to life for D. The Scissor Jumps are anything but pleasant.

I think I was done in around 20-25 minutes, so a quick workout. However, those scissor and tuck jumps really made it a tough 20 minutes! I kind of like these TRX workouts to be short and not too taxing so we can each fit it in to our workout weeks as "extra" stuff.

Hey ppl:
I don't have a home gym anymore (moved) and well joining a gym is out of the question right now. So I was thinking about getting this on top of the bodyweight workouts I'm doing right now.
Do those of you who have one and use it think it would be ok to use as my main equipment for resistance training for a while?
Thanks.

Absolutely. You can get a great workout with the TRX. Depending on the angle you setup in, you can do low, medium, or high reps. All sorts of angles and grips.
Mix that in with a day or two of bodyweight stuff and you're good to go.
You'll probably catch onto this stuff pretty quickly if you're using it a lot. It comes with a routine, plus you can use some of the ones in here and get a great workout.

I concur. I'm surprisingly sore from my trial run last night. I can imagine that a full-blown workout will be kick-butt! Like LD said, you have complete control over how challenging you make it.
