Well, that 10 hours of power-shopping is about all the exercise I can write about for this weekend! That, and baking 25 dozen cookies today. I think I must be crazy. Not too bright to bake cookies all day THE DAY BEFORE pics are due. Especially on top of Thanksgiving food madness. Geez, do I EVER need to get back on track! LOL!
So, fresh start tomorrow consists of a very low cal and low carb day, a workout, and pics in all of my Thanksgiving bloated glory.
LOL on the cookies. I'm going to do some Christmas baking myself next week. It's probably not a good thing that I'm planning a maintenance week.... I will try to be good!
After looking at my start and ending pics with a less critical eye than usual, I am fairly happy. I know I could/should have done even more, but I suppose this gives me even more challenges and goals to shoot for in the coming year.
I still have this month to reach all of my goals that I set forth for this year, and I'm still intending on reaching them...only one to go!
Weight: 5'8" 137 lbs to 134 (-3 lbs)
Chest: 36" to 37" (+1.0) -- must be the bra!
Below Chest: 29" to 28.75" (.25")
Stomach below belly button: 34.25" to 33" (-1.25")
Waist at narrowest: 27" to 26" (-1.0")
Hips: 37" to 36" (-1")
Thigh: 21.5" to 20.5" (-1.0")
Strange pics this month......onward to the next challenge!
Jane, great work this challenge! I can see obvious progress, and although I know you aren't as happy as you hoped this month, you really look great! What's life without a great Thanksgiving dinner and a few cookies! So what is the one goal you haven't met yet?
jane you look awesome as always!! you are just missing your fake tan, girlfriend!
Thanks, Wendy! Yes,.....this challenge I went from tan to white and next challenge I will go from white to tan!! The latter always being better, as baked bread looks so much better than raw dough.

Thanks, Celeste......the elusive pull-up is the last goal. The other goal that was lagging behind was to open myself up to a new relationship this year. I'm counting that as a goal reached since I asked someone out and I also had a sorta fix-up meeting this weekend. So, while nothing has panned out YET, I still think I at least have been open to it.
Below the knees>to the hang position>to high chest position>jump into the clean
We did this about 15 times. So much to remember. Keeping my weight on my heels, keeping my arms straight, pulling my knees back, shoulders back, wrist curled under, proper grip, shrugging the bar instead of curling it up, jumping high. ACH!
Then, we did the same thing, but starting from the floor. Went from the floor, into the hang, into the high chest, into the clean. Took it slow, then speeded things up. Again, remembering all of the proper form and technique as we put it all together. Did this about 8 times.
Whew! At the end of each set, she was really pleased. I was happy, too.
Then, we worked on pull-ups. Did 2 sets of 5 band-assisted, did sleeper stretch in between sets. Then, did 2 sets of reverse pullup's from the floor with a 3 second pause at the top...again, to awaken that sleepy scap of mine.
Really good workout. It felt good and it felt like it was all coming together nicely.
If you have bands at home, try to do face pulls with a really light band every day. Don't let your sleepy scap fall asleep. You can do Ys, wall slides, and scaptions (with almost anything in your hands) multiple times a day. If you're a desk worker, doing this stuff will help with long term posture, too.
Your whole workout was awesome but these really caught my eye since I am also doing BB Bent-over Rows and I struggle with 75. WOW!
Just getting caught up on your mom, cookie baking, and challenge thoughts. I am sorry to hear about your mom.....I can't imagine what that is like and I worry about my own mom's health (she has Lyme's and a bunch of other stuff no one wants). I know you have the strength and will find the peace you need to get through these tough times.
I am glad you found some bright spots with your challenge assessment. You are such a model of discipline that it is inspiring to me. You look fantastic right now but I know you will find some way to improve on that in the next challenge!
And finally, thank you for coordinating our challenges. I am so glad we have a leader.....there is no way you can totally comprehend what the challenges mean to all of us involved. Thank you!!!
Jane, I think you've done great with this challenge! You have a beautiful figure. I don't know if you had any strength goals but I'd have to guess that you have made huge strength gains with all those PRs! I think you taking swimming and oly lifting lessons says a lot about your personality and I'm hoping to take some inspiration from you and try some new things. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress in the new year.
Oh, and just 10 more days until Violet comes home, right?
Thanks, Chloe!! You are right...I set some high goals for myself this year and really stretched myself mentally and physically. Meeting my yearly goals is huge and really does drive me into the new year. I've started my 2009 goal list....some I will make public, and I have a few "secret" ones I'm going to keep to myself. I plan to keep on working hard.
Reverse pull-up? Can't picture this ... Please help!!
Kudos on reaching so many of your goals this year ... and how fun that Violet will be home in 10 days!!!
OK, let's see......there is a bar really low on the squat rack. I am underneath of it on my back looking up at it. I am hanging from it with my arms straight. Legs are out. Then, I squeeze my shoulders together. Then, I raise myself to the bar, chest touching, hold for 3 seconds, then drop back down. Squeeze shoulders together again and repeat, repeat.
jane, you are looking so good and getting so strong! i find your progress very motivating and certainly appreciate the time and energy you put into this board and the challenges! thanks!
Wow Jane (I am late to the party) I am blown away by your challenge pics. Look at the difference in your outline shape in the pics! You are recomping now and it is showing up nicely.
I am dissapponted because I came to see Violet pics. I'll just sit here and keep looking at my watch until she arrives....

Ohhh I get it...are these like the ones they do on the Biggest Loser Jane? Tho they're usually hanging from the treadmills?
Made it through another corporate-wide layoff today. How many times have I had to post this in my log?? I've lost count, but I think this is about the 11th layoff in the last several years. Out of the blue today, too....usually the grapevine works pretty well and we have a sense of when it's coming. You think I'd be used to it, but it's just as stressful and sad every single time. What a terrrible day it has been.
I am so looking forward to a kick-ass workout tonight just to unwind.
I've been into making puppy cookies/treats this week in anticipation of Violet's arrival. I feel better making them myself for her. Maybe I'll do a bit more baking tonight to continue on with the unwinding.
