This is 100% my mother... she's so funny, she won't be seen in public without make-up! Even does her hair and make-up before going to the gym

Love you Jane, but I'm on the other end of the spectrum (although my baby could be your child). We were looking through some old photos, and she came upon one where she was 3 -- we were out on a touristy jaunt and I was carrying a Gucci purse and she say "Oh, mom you DID USED TO KNOW how to dress." I couldn't do anything but laugh. However, she has brought me to the dark side of must have good-looking jeans (and I look good in them).

Well, I don't go that far!! LOL! But, when I go after work, I don't make it a point to take it all off, either. I just whip my hair up on top of my head and go. The gym is the one place I don't care.

LOL!! It's a curse sometime, but you know....it's just who I am, so I am comfortable. I envy people at the other end of the spectrum sometimes, though! I once said that if I could move away where I knew nobody, I wonder if I could turn myself into a no-maintenance person. But, the answer is always no!

I have NO DOUBT you are rocking those jeans! No doubt at all! Nothing worse than seeing someone in high-waisted "mom" jeans with a killer body. No way!

August 18, 2008
Coach Dos' Power Training - Total Fitness Routine
Workout A of Phase 3 (ie weeks 7-9)
Workout 3 of 10

DB Snatch alternated with Jump Squats
5x25
5xbw jump squats
5x25
5xbw jump squats

Lunges and BSS's
8x15's Lunges
8x10's BSS
8x10's Lunges

Good Mornings
8x65
8x65
4x65
8x45
*I went back down to 45 for the last set because I didn't think I was getting full ROM at the higher weight. Not sure I really like these....may go back to RDL's for this option.

DB Flat Bench Press
8x22.5's
8x25's
8x22.5's
*I think all the push-ups are really helping me here!

Seated Cable Row
8x75
8x81
8x75
*Subbed for Standing Cable Row to Neck because all the cable machines were in use

O/H Press
8x17.5's
8x20's
8x17.5's
*The PR is the most reps at that weight. I can't believe I am FINALLY seeing progress with my shoulders.

Assisted chin-ups
8x58 lbs assist
4x64 lbs assist
5x70 lbs assist
5x76 lbs assist
*These were all VERY hard! I may go back to the Lat pulldowns here. I was subbing for chin-ups, but I'm not doing too well, here!

Seated Russian Twist
4x10x10 lbs seated russian twist8x20

Planks
80 secs - static plank
30 secs - side plank
30 secs - side plank

Ended w/ 4 rounds of intervals

Well, not too bad of a workout, considering I am again running on about 3.5 hours of sleep since I got called back into work AGAIN last night (this is the 6th night of this in the last 10 days). I dropped to 3 sets on some of these because I was just feeling myself starting to fade. To make matters worse, I have to go BACK in tonight at 11PM, work for probably 4 hours, come home, get sleep, and be back at 7:30AM. I am fried. I can't believe I've been able to keep my eating on track and piece together some semblance of a workout routine. I am hoping that this is the last night.

I'm copying this workout ... and breaking down and buying this book. I couldn't face the gym today JUST COULDN'T, so I did a workout part in the backyard (86 degrees) and part in the house. Loved my workout (climbed up on a carport to do negative chins and gave an interesting view to the neighbor sitting on his porch). Have you thought about doing negatives for the assisted chins?

This combination you put together looks VERRRRY interesting. Jump squats, lunges, BSSs, and Good Mornings -- what was this jello legs day You did awesome doing this sleep-deprived. I hope these people are feeding you (I tease here because I've been there with the work hours too).

And I am so with you on the Mom jeans. They make me cringe faster than a lot of "strange" things you see in public.

P.S. Can you tell I don't feel like cooking (chatty today)

I think you will love Power Training because it's so versatile--- so many exercises to choose from! Normallly, I stick to 4 sets of the same exercise (like 4 sets of lunges, for example for my knee-dominant bi-lateral exercise), but there are so many choices within that category that sometimes I like to alternate the 4 sets with 2 different choices. It's really a nice set-up, I think. I like customizing.

Food....well, what I've been doing is taking in enough food for 8 hours since I never know how long I'll be there. So far, that's working for me. If I counted on them for food, I'd get pizza and the vending machines!

Pop in when you get Power Training and let me know which moves you choose for your program.

Jane, does the Power Training book explain all of the "reasons" (for lack of a better word) for the different exercises? "Reasons" being giving better balance and such rather than just better strength or better muscles? From your descriptions, it looks like it definitely tells you which muscles you're working, which is great, but I'd love to have a better understanding of the whys.

You're doing very well on so little sleep and so many work hours. Hopefully, you'll get back to a less hectic schedule soon.

Ha!! And I guess because I was always a jock, I NEVER wear/wore makeup ... I don't see the point!! Although I will concede that occasionally now I will wear mascara and chap stick ...

Lots of red ink there.

You seem to be inspiring a group of followers. It's kind of like Moses or at least Forrest Gump!

I know I bought Power Training on Jane's opinion of it. Haven't had need for it since I've got a trainer, but it's another tool for the toolbox in case I want to try something different.

Jane, don't give up on the chin-ups. I saw great improvement even after only a few days when I did them with my trainer.

Your workouts look awesome. Nice RED! I can't wait to check out Power Training. (the mail lady thinks I'm stalking her )

I can relate to this feeling. I almost never leave home without makeup. The exception was when I used to work out at 5:00 a.m., but now since I work at the gym and workout either between or after clients, I at least start with my makeup on. But I also envy those who have no qualms about facing the world makeup free. I have done it but it doesn't feel right.

Agreed, as it's on the short list of what I'll move on to after NROL4W, even though I already broke down and purchased NROL.

I agree you should get a cut. lol I keep looking around and getting overwhelmed with all the options. I tried to reserve the book at our Borders but they didn't have a copy so will have to wait for a bit. Might just get NROL as the book so Hubby can look too. Still looking at TT also.

I used to work out at 5:15 a.m. 3 mornings a week and 6:00 a.m. the other two. I had baggy sweats and a baseball cap. There was a woman who was there most of those mornings who kept waving at me. It took me several days to realize it was a real estate agent I regularly worked with who was not wearing her makeup!

Me, too!

Jane, I have a question. I'm leaving town from Thursday until Sept 1 which is the day we're supposed to post challenge pics. Should I take pics tomorrow and post them in case I don't get back in time to post them on 9/1? Or can I get a late pass and post them 9/2 if I have to?

I'm sooooo with you on this Jane. We need to go shopping sometime. By the way, my Stephenson jeans came in the mail today and they are looooooooooooooooooooooooong. You and Ginger would love them. Meanwhile, I will likely have my tailor alter them and make a coat out of the leftover fabric (cuz i'm a shortie).

Ah, Jill, I am jealous! I've been eyeing some on ebay (new), but so far not my size either. Do you find they run big, small, true to size?? Maybe, I am not even trying for the right size. Believe it or not, I think I'll have to have mine hemmed, too, if I ever find a pair on sale!

I would LOOOOOVE to go shopping with you. We would have a blast! You ever come to Cleveland on your business travels?

The pair i bought runs a bit small so the site recommended if you are in-between sizes to go up one. Jeans always stretch though so if I can sausage myself in, I know they'll stretch out and be fine after wearing for a bit. I'm sort of obsessed with Willam Rast jeans right now. I got a great pair that I am wearing all the time. LUV them.

You know, I haven't been to Cleveland in forever. I used to go see a couple clients there, but no more. I think you, me, Tina, Gobbla, etc should meet up at the Arnold in Columbus!

Ohh, those jeans sound right up my alley. How cute would a jacket be, with the extra material?

Count me in, if you guys set up a shopping trip. I think we would have a great time and yes, I am butting in.

I agree! I was just thinking of the Arnold when Tina mentioned in my log that she was there last year! I was new to this site and actually wondered when I was walking around if anyone there was from here!

Yay for the Arnold. Oh, and I was just jokin' about the jacket. I was just figuring they would need to cut so much off the leg that I would have room for at LEAST a jacket...maybe a full length coat! That joke went right over your head Ginger!

LOL! That wouldn't be the first time and probably not the last.
I did have the thought of "how long can those jeans be, to get a jacket out the extra material"...... but then, I let it go.

Jane, thanks for the information.

I was thinking about you mowing the lawn in make-up and laughing because I've started doing that, too. I didn't used to at our old house, but I do now cuz all my neighbors want to stop and talk when they see me out there and I don't want to be seen as a sweaty old bag who won't take care of herself.

OK, I don't want people thinking I get all dolled up to mow the lawn! LOL! It's just that I get ready for the day, every day, and so when I mow or garden or do anything later in the day, I'm already "done" for lack of a better word. KWIM? Of course by the end of the day, I have sweated everything off between workouts, gardening, yardwork, etc! So, I really look pretty nasty by that point!

Oops, I did give that impression, didn't I? I didn't figure that you put on make-up just to mow the lawn, LOL. What I meant was I don't wash make-up off before mowing the lawn like I used to when nobody stopped to talk to me.

On the other hand, when I was a teenager, I used to have a neighbor who did put on all her make-up and mow her lawn in a bikini. She was 22 and I don't know if she was trying to tan or looking for a boyfriend .

2x5xBW

Front Squats
8x55
8x60
8x60

*I threw in a set of back squats at the end at 6x65 just to remind me how much harder front squats really are!

Swiss Ball Glute-Hamstring Single Leg
8xBW
8xBW
8xBW
8xBW
*These are so killer with the single leg version. I had to do both legs on the last set.

Flat Bench Press
7x60
8x55
8x55
8x55
*Hrmph I got 2 sets of 8x60 last time. Don't know why I couldn't do it this time.

DB Row w/alternating DB's
8x27.5's
8x27.5's
8x27.5's
8x27.5's

6x64 lbs assist
4x58 lbs assist
2x52 lbs assist
2x46 lbs assist
*Not how the reps were supposed to go, but I wanted to see how far I could keep lowering the assist. When I tried for a 1RM at the next level down, I failed.

Seated Russian Twist
4x10x10lb plate

Planks
2 minutes 5 seconds plank
*Instead of 3 sets of 30 secs, I did one long plank and my core was shot

I finished off with 4 sets of intervals and 10 minutes SS.

Some weird creepy guy hit on me at the gym tonight. First time ever for that and it was very strange and so was he.
