Thanks for stopping by. Currently, I am doing Power Training by Dos Remedios. I believe any program can be "Fat Loss", as that's all about diet and calorie deficit. My main goal is to retain LBM as I reach my fat loss goal (almost there). I do cardio intervals a couple times a week, nothing set in stone, lift 3x a week. I take walks or jogs when the mood hits me, too. Mainly, for me, it's been all about diet this year, and that has been the biggest factor.
I imagine I will be looking at strength and hypertrophy this Fall, all within the Power Training program.
Thanks Jane..I will look up that book. So is this book kind of like the original NROL that has several different protocols depending on yor goal? How long is each one of them? thanks.
It's different than NROL. There are 3 12-week programs and they are templates from which you build your own workout (ie you get to choose your own exercises from a list) -- Total Fitness, Strength, and Hypertrophy. You cycle back to Total Fitness after either one of the other two programs.
Jane, just wanted to agree with everyone else on the Avi!! Funny, I've had the same one since I joined here!! I figure when I reach my goal, I'll ask Leigh to make me one of those gifs and post me shrinking as my avi ... until then ... if folks want to see my face, they have to go to my profile or to my website!!

The weekend went great. Nice to have these 3-day weekends in the summer! I got a lot done outside and just spent some quality down time. Went to the gym on Friday and then just did general NEAT activities on Saturday and Sunday. Food was spot on, so all is good there, too.
Tonight will be the last workout in Phase I of the Total Fitness Training section of Power Training. Phase II will be lower reps (yeah).
Hey, Jane. I'm shopping for a new program so popped in here to see how you're doing with the Coach Dos one. I remember you saying you can switch it up from workout to workout if needed and I like that! I'm looking for something that I can really change around and modify as needed throughout this pregnancy, based on sickness, round ligament pain, loose joints, big belly, and general laziness, etc. Whatcha think?
Hiya Ginger! I haven't done any weights this week -- only cardio -- so I haven't even bothered posting. Will be hitting the gym tonight for weights, though, so will be back with that workout later this evening. All of a sudden this week, I was having very bad stomach problems (like too bad to hit the gym for fear of embarrassment!). I couldn't figure out WHAT in the heck was going on. Then, I narrowed it down to stupid GUM! It's the xylitol in the sugar-free gum I had been chewing. Threw it away and my stomach is now FINE. That was a stupid mistake that cost me 3 good days in the gym!
So, even though eats have been good, I've FELT like a bloated pig! Scale still being nice to me, however, so I'm expecting that I'll feel even better once all this xylitol crap is out of my system. Never again!
I did, however, keep up with my NEAT and cardio because I figured walking and running outside was safe (by myself ) even with the gastro issues. How lovely.

There is something in the gum that does it to me, too. I wonder if that might be it. The number on the scale being good to you, shows you how on your game you are, with your food.
Just wanted to check in with you and see what you have been doing. Has it been hotter than ever there, too? It has just been SO hot. I have to keep the kiddos supplied with their water, in fear of them getting dehydrated.

Well, no more gum for me!!! I'm so pissed that THAT'S what was causing me all of my problems this week!
And, yes, it's hotter than hell this week. And so humid. Just think, though, this will get you perfectly ready for the beach!! Oh, I am so jealous! Please have a decadent umbrella drink for me.

Yes, it is definitely getting us ready, LOL!
I will absolutely have a drink for you! I am going to miss being here to check in with everyone, but I've given myself strict rules to not bring the laptop, because I'll end up working.

I did that last weekend and it was a very good thing for me to totally disconnect.

I forgot to mention this.......good news on the puppy front. My breeder let me know that Sophie's mom and dad are about ready to breed again. I will get first pick from that litter if I am ready. So, it appears that little Violet may be born before the end of the year. I hope I am ready.
What kind of gum were you chewing? I chew a lot of gum and I've never noticed that problem before, but that is crazy! I had no idea that could disrupt you so much! I'm glad you're feeling better.

I know, it's crazy, but that HAS to be it because I cut it out and now I am FINE. Crazy. It was Trident Blueberry.
Well at least you figured it out relatively fast. I'm terrible at sorting those things out. I don't know why, but it takes me forever to realize what something new is doing to me!
Jane, I have heard of this before. My mother in law will not chew gum for this very reason! I noticed I felt funny with trident - the watermelon kind anyway. I noticed that most sugar free gum these days has xylitol. Its unfortunate! I usually chew Orbit but I wonder what would happen if I didn't for a week or so....

That's good news. I remember not wanting to replace my cat. We had other animals while I was growing up, but this was the first cat that liked me best. When I moved out he came with me and lived until 16. After he died I thought I could never replace him. And yet, my two little nut cases did a pretty good job.
I don't know if I dare say it, but I think my wrist is about 99% better (after over 4 months). Even after yesterday's workout, there is very little pain.
Had a really tasty dinner I threw together last night, so thought I would share:
Took 132 grams of Tilapia and rubbed a little EVOO on it. Then, generously sprinkled with Mrs. Dash Grill Seasoning on both sides. I broiled one side, flipped it, and when almost done I put 14 grams of Monterey Jack on it. When done, I topped it with 2 OZ of salsa. I served it with Southwest Corn. (First time I had this -- it's Birdseye frozen corn with red and green peppers and onions and SW seasoning -- very good!). I topped it all with some chopped cilantro. It was a great meal for only 386 calories. And, it looked very pretty, too.

Yum!! Tilapia is good and that recipe sounds great!!
