Here's a PERFECT example of why I am not a scale-watcher. I had been avoiding the scale and just weighing in and measuring myself for the monthly challenge. Now, here at work, we have a Biggest Loser challenge going on for our new Wellness Initiative. So, I am participating because you have to participate to get in the drawings for the big prizes (cash, trips, cars, etc).
Anyhow, I weigh in this morning for this challenge and I am 2.5 pounds MORE than I was when I weighed in for my monthly pics this past weekend. Do I look or feel any different? Nope. Do my clothes fit any differently? Nope.
But, dammit, if I can't get those stinking 2.5 lbs off of my mind! I hate the scale!
Tonight will be an ass-kickin' Stage 7 workout 2 torture session.
I know, I know....I'd just rather not weight AT ALL! I'll be so glad when I can get back to monthly weigh-ins!
Jane, you may want to try that Google15 tool while you're having to do more weighins. It tracks your trend over time and is a bit more realistic than day to day fluctuations. If you don't have to weigh daily for this challenge at work forget what I said.

Me too, fellow scale hater. Maybe we should start a club?
But those slight fluctuations ARE good to light an extra hot fire under my butt for cardio!

gah. Hate when that happens especially when you feel good because you've been rocking things and then your weight is up.

Yeah, and to mix it up even further.....my Omron (which I trust even less than the scale, so why do I torture myself!!) showed the lowest BF% reading I've ever seen for myself this morning.
Sometimes during the giant sets I would say to myself, "Don't cry, it's almost over." You're doing awesome!
I just ordered some chocolate Nitrean on your recommendation - I am very excited to get it!
I don't know what kind of nutrition you are following but the following is GREAT: one scoop chocolate (or vanilla) Nitrean, 7 oz water, a dozen or so frozen slices of banana. Blend. MMMMMM......

Had a great day today. The weather was great, so I worked outside all day planting flowers. Then, I took a break and went and got a pedicure -- heavenly. Then, I went to the big shindig that my gym threw for its one-year anniversary. Diet out the window, but it was fun! I had my first chocolate of the year!
The cute guy from the gym wasn't there-- bummer. And I had a really cute outfit on, too! But, I had some nice chats with some of the trainers and some of the other regulars that I see but don't usually chat with. Very cool.
Tomorrow is workout 3 of Stage 7.
Too much wine at the party, so must go to bed now!

Sounds like you had a great day!! Glad you let loose to enjoy it!
I know what your going through when we began our challenge online I also joined an at work Biggest Loser contest. The weigh ins were brutal every week. I too hate the scale... One guy, the ultimate winner simply changed his diet (sonds like an atkins of some sort) and lost a ton of weight. I on the other hand was gaining/losing thru my workouts. He blew my loss away but in the end I did win the biggest transformation award (a whomping $10).
You will do GREAT Im sure!! Keep up the spectacular workouts!!
actually you could not have asked for anything better to happen than a 2 or more pound weigh gain for the first weigh in of a contest. This little pain will be totally forgotten when you are winning the big prizes by just 1 lb from the next closet person.
No, I don't care about the contest because, obviously, I can't win. I only can possible lose a few pounds. I'm only in it so I can be part of the drawings for the big prizes (cash, cars, trips, etc). And, you have to participate in all of the fitness intiatives to get in the drawing. I just hate having to weigh in because I am not a scale watcher and this is forcing me to do just that. I think from here on out I am just going to tell the weigh-in person to not tell me my weight and continue on with my monthly weigh-ins.

If you're healthy enough to NOT watch the scale (something I'm still working on!), then definitely ask them not to tell you your weight... When I did weight watchers (11 years ago), there were a few people who didn't want to know their weight, and the weighers were always very accomodating...
I pretty much had a "free" weekend. Not feeling REAL guilty about it, but it's the first I've really strayed since the first of the year. So, back on the wagon today!

NROL4W
Stage 7 (3 of 6)
Deadlifts
8x85
6x95
Giant Alternating Sets w/30 sec rest
Static lunge
15x45 lb oly bar
15x45 lb oly bar
15 x bw took it to BW the last set just to really concentrate and drop that knee to the ground.
Pushups
15 on toes
10 on toes
8 on toes As you can see, these got progessively weaker!
Looks good! Are you doing the pushups incline or on the ground? If they're on the ground that is AWESOME! Well, it's awesome incline, too, but pushups on the ground are soo hard for me
Yep, I've been on the ground doing 'real' pushups for a few months now, but it took me a long time to get there! A year ago, I would have been pleased with today's numbers, but I should have pushed myself for the entire 3x15.
Great job on workouts Jane!
I'm looking at you and thinking of jumping to stage 7 from stage 4, too...Don't know yet. I do want to go heavy once again with shorter reps, too but there's a couple of exercises I don't want to go back to...

Sveta, basically I just had to do what made me happy and excited to workout and Stage 5 had me in a funk. Stage 7 is very hard for me. I originally planned on going through the 6 workouts twice, but I think I'll do them once and then move on. Haven't decided for sure what I will do yet.....maybe NROL Hypertrophy or maybe an entirely different program. But, I need to figure it out soon!

Go you. Real pushups are hard, but awesome. Pushing yourself is good, but don't beat yourself up too much!
