Congrats on finishing 4! 5 is hard to get used to with such low reps, but it's fun!

Wow, Jane! Congrats on the 100 lbs squat! That is awesome and you are so strong! Also, good job on finishing stage 4! You are doing such a great job.

Wow, thanks Ginger. I felt sort of like a weakling these past couple weeks....largely due to not eating enough, I think. Look at those pathetic deads last night.

Good job Jane, especially considering you're working around an injury.

Very cool on finishing up Stage 4 with that wrist bothering you and puppy chaos! You still doing plan A with just an occasional carb-up?

You are doing great. Take the time to read this week's Motivator because Mahler is describing you!

LOL!!! I totally feel your pain RE getting used to having a puppy. I got my doggie about 2 years ago and it totally upset my routine.

Congrats on the big 100 squat and the new fancy jeans. Do make sure to get that diet in check now 'cause this is where the muscle comes off if you aren't careful. You want to keep all of it that you worked so hard to earn. I too can't wait to see the new pics.

Apri 26, 2008
Stage 5 Workout A (1 of 4)

One Armed DB Snatch
4x25
4x25
4x27.5
4x27.5
I only did 20's with my right hand, due to the wrist. Hope that doesn't make me too lopsided.

SUPERSET
DB Single Leg RDL
4x25's
4x30's
4x20's
4x20's
Balance was way off with the 30's (a PR, but, I'm not counting it since form was so bad), so I backed way down to the 20's and form was great and got super ROM with the 20's. Nice.

Barbell Bent Over Row
4x70
4x65
4x65
Wrist really hurting on this one on as the bar got to my stomach. Not good.

SUPERSET
DB Single-Arm O/H Squat
4x12.5 and 25
4x12.5 and 25
4x12.5 and 25

DB Incline Bench Press
4x22.5's
4x20's
4x22.5's

SUPERSET
Plank
75 secs
45 secs
50 secs
Must work through the agony on these and go for longer next time

Reverse Wood Chop
4x25
2x25
4x25
Need to watch wrist on this one. I did 'em, but probably not the best idea.

BODY WEIGHT MATRIX

Did one set of the matrix

Today, I am carb loading. Scale weight today was the lowest in YEARS! I am thinking it is time to start in with some carbs. I did a one-meal carb load last Saturday, and it jump-started my losses, as I predicted. Today, I'm doing carbs all day. So far, I have had a sandwich and tonight is pizza for the first time this entire year! Then, tomorrow, back to TNT plan A.

Well, the pizza sure tasted good, but my body didn't like it one bit the next day! Had no trouble getting right back on track yesterday, and I think I'll continue the Saturday carb-ups for a while (maybe in a bit more moderation, though!). Still tweaking things a bit for this last bit of stubborn fat. It may take me a bit of time to figure it out.

Yeah - doesn't it stink that even though you may still LOVE the taste of some of the stuff that we used to eat, our bodies now react very differently to them now that we've been clean eating for a while! I know that if I eat something that isn't what I normally eat nowadays, my body will go a bit wacky on me and my tummy will be unhappy!

Jane, are you eating right after you get up and just before you go to bed? My trainer has me doing this and I really believe it is helping.

NROL4W Stage 5 Workout B (1 of 4)

Here's the deal. I just plain hate this workout. Didn't like it in stage 3 and still don't like it. I can't do workouts that don't motivate me and that I don't like. So, it's either just do Stage A workouts and skip B or move on to Stage 7. So, I've decided to move on to Stage 7. I feel much better.

BB RDL w/Bent Over Row
4x70
4x75
4x85
4x95
I did RDL's withou the row because of the wrist. There's a PR in there somewhere, but not sure it counts with 4 reps!

Alternating Set
Partial Single Leg Squat
4x4xbw
Still really have a hard time with these....bleh.

Wide Grip Lat Pulldown
4x65
4x60
4x60
My wrist is really holding me back on upper body strength

Alternating Set
Back Extension
3x4xBW

YTWL
3x4x5's
Minus the "T", which is where I *think* this damn wrist injury came from.

Alternating Set
Swiss Ball Crunch
3x8x10 long arm
Reverse Crunch holding Swiss Ball with feet
3x8xbw
Lateral Flexion - Side crunch on Swiss Ball
3x8xbw
I did these all as a GIANT superset. I did 8 reps because 4 seemed quite wimpy.

Finished with 2 sets of 8 pushups just because.

Jane - I much concur - if you do not like a workout switch to another. It is like books, if you start one you don't have to finish it just because to bought it or checked it out, NOT a moral failure. Life's too short to spend very much time doing what you don't like.

Ya know, I was thinking of doing the same thing with regards to skipping the B workout! I truly don't like it. But Lisa~ gave me some ideas to help, and yesterday was more manageable(sp?) But I think I'm just going do the rest of this week at stage 5, skip the last A and B and skip right to stage 6. You motivated me to actually skip instead of just think about it and be aggravated at being stuck in stage 5, hehe... so basically... that was a very long-winded "Thank you" :-)

I'm an avid reader, so this is a perfect parallel for me. Long ago, I decided that life is too short to finish bad books. As much as I read, I can't waste time on the bad ones! So, yep, the same thing with the workout.....and Stage 7 looks very interesting and challenging!

Why thank you!
I have decided to skip to stage 6 after today, but I'm going to wait until Monday to do the first workout so my bf can help me with my negative chin-ups. So I have decided on Friday to try the 300 workout! (modified for my ability of course... no 50 reps of deads at 135 for me!) But I'm excited about trying something completely different!

Sophie is one of the cutest pups I have seen and my 6 year old was just running by and stopped dead in her tracks, with a big 'ol "aahhhhh, Mom"..
You are getting so freaking strong, Jane! Nice work. (and thanks for checking on me)

Good for you I've just finished stage 3 and I totally agree that B is the dullest workout so far. I might well follow your example and skip Stage 5 when I come to it. Have fun with Stage 7.

I don't know if "fun" is the right word for Stage 7! Wow! I just did my workout logs for S7 and they are pretty intimidating -- 4 sets of each exercise with 15-20 reps! Yikes!

I hate 15 rep sets, let alone 20!!!
