Well, I am home from vacation....well rested....ready to get back into the swing of things. The week off from the gym didn't feel as good as I thought it would, though. I am itching to get back, and that will be tomorrow. Yay!
I tell everyone that the gym is my Calgone take me away time .

We I go home to see family, I go to the Y in the area. When I go on vacation, I stay at a place with a gym. I just can't be at peace without working out. Don't know why my family thinks that I am weird .

Lots of lovely red in that WO! I'll have to remember the tortilla loading tip.

By the way, Wendy, I wonder if the Boston group I saw yesterday at Starbucks was doing their long run yesterday, too?
yep, pretty good bet that if a group of runners are in a starbux on saturday, they either just ran, are getting ready to run, or fantasizing about running. we are just that way, lol.
Yes, I did. But, it is such a hard and demanding plan. I would only recommend it for someone who has 100% ability to be compliant and can take some suffering.
I had intended to go back to it after this bulking period, but I just don't think I can mentally do it again.

I don't have trouble being compliant with diet, but I wonder if it would be time constraints that I have trouble with. Didn't you have to workout almost every day? I can't get to the gym that much.
No, it's 4 lifting workouts a week; however, 3 of them are quite long. Especially workouts 1 and 2 because you have to do A LOT of volume (and on VERY little calories/carbs). Physically and mentally, those days are so tough. And, some have a hard time wrapping their heads (and stomachs) around such a large carbload (I didn't!).
some of what attracts me to it is that large carbload. I would love to be able to eat like that once a week.
I guess I'll get it and see what all it entails. Maybe a better choice would be to do it next summer when kids are gone at camp. I have enough planned to get me through then, anyway.
I think it's a great program; however, I missed being able to do my weight workouts the way *I* wanted to do them. The workouts for UD2 are using machines most of the time and I HATE using machines. So, when I started dreading my workouts, then I knew I had to stop. AND, doing machines at such high volume on 1,000 calories just wasn't my idea of fun in any way, shape, or form!! But, the carbload was fun! But, carbloads always sound like more fun than they are because keeping fat low makes it impossible to carbload on things you might want to eat (like pizza, or burgers, or other fattening goodies). But, I still found good things to load on (bagels, bread, pasta, cereal, etc).
The 2 machine high volume workouts are what turns me away from UD2 the most! Well that and I have never tried a super strict nutrition regime yet....on the other hand...the results might be worth it!

(((waves))) Hai Jane
Hi Bree!!! Yep, you can see how much happier I am doing my strength workouts lately!! Much more rewarding!
I've noticed, also, that while eating over maintenance for the last several weeks has led to an increase in scale weight, I'm sort of liking it. For one, I'm filling out my bras nicely these days and the lifting benefits are certainly awesome! But, I know I need to get focused back to cutting again.
I'm getting a dexa scan done today (for health reasons, not for any body recomp reasons), so it will be interesting to see if any of my hard work has resulted in more LBM.

I'm betting there will be some changes - you have been working so hard!!!
Wendy, I just got back and I don't know that I'll get any useful data from the dexa. They only did my hip and back. I'm not familiar wtih dexas....this was my first baseline one.....but, I don't think this particular one of just hip and back will yield me anything more than its original intent (ie no body comp data).
But, I still found good things to load on (bagels, bread, pasta, cereal, etc).
Ben & Jerry's fro yo is the sweet of choice for lots of folks on Lyle's forums.
In my UD2 experimental week I also had load of fun with a mound of sweet potatoes. (I tend to avoid grains when possible, not for allergy reasons, just fyi)

oh right jane!!! I forgot that. the dexas I have had were specific to body comp. I am psyched to go back to my caliper lady. I haven't been since I have been in the 140's!!!
Maybe you weren't feeling the DLs, but you were certainly feeling the rows! Nice PRs!

I like how you say you weren't feeling the deadlifts...those are still great! I envy your back strength, too. I haven't progressed on rows nearly as much as I should have at this point.
