Why, thanks Evie! I needed that tonight!

Well, I am home from vacation....well rested....ready to get back into the swing of things. The week off from the gym didn't feel as good as I thought it would, though. I am itching to get back, and that will be tomorrow. Yay!

Glad to see you back Miss Jane.
Why didn't it feel good to be away from the gym? You're such an addict to lifting I suppose you had withdrawal symptoms ?
Not lifting used to put me into overeating mode big time! Was stunned when that didn't happen this time around.. how about your eating habits when away from the gym. Are they as disciplined as ever?

I just miss the gym because I love it so much, I guess. I thought it would be great to give my body a break, what with the arms and hands falling asleep on me. And, while that's gotten better, it's still not 100%.

As far as food and discipline? Um....no way on vacation! We are talking sweet tea (gotta have it in the south!), large amounts of alcohol, goodies, and more goodies. So, I am now back to my old disciplined ways.....it was fun while it lasted. Down to my end of the year sprint!

On another note, my sister came to me for fat loss advice, and she is down 13 lbs so far (in 6 weeks). I'm so happy for her!!!

Welcome back!

I can't go long without exercise of some kind, either. I have learned its something I enjoy, like a hobby, and working out on vacation is the best of both worlds for me.

Welcome back Jane, glad you had a great vacation.
Whenever I feel like slipping into bad ways (food that is..) your log inspires me.
Just finished reading get movings log on the fitness challenge, and the bashing she gave you. She is slightly crazy, dont let her get to you. she must have really low self esteem to react that way.

Power Training

Strength Program - Push/Pull
Weeks 1-3 (Workout 11 and 12 of 12 - sorta!)

Deadlifts
4x115
4x125
4x135
3x145
1x155
1x160

Barbell Lunges

6x65
6x70
5x80

Bench Press
6x75
5x75
8x65

DB Bentover Rows
6x45's
6x45's

DB Shoulder Press
6x25's
6x25's

Assisted Chinups
8
6

Felt good to be back in the gym. Didn't push it too hard, but still felt good. Did a bit more socializing than normal since I hadn't seen my gym peeps in a week. Sort of did a bastardized version of workouts 11 and 12 to finish out this phase of Strength Training ala Power Training.

Well, you picked a bad time to get food inspiration since I've been a bad, bad girl!! But, never fear, I am back at it now! And, thanks for the nice words.....you nailed it, I think.

Well, vodka for sure, and some rum. Mojitos and then some southern drink made with sweet tea, vodka, and peach something or other. It was good! And my favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream is called Chocolate Therapy and you can't buy it in pints; only in the actual B&J stores. I had a double serving of that, amongst other no-no's!

Glad to see you back, up and running! (Or should I say lifting?) It's awesome you had a fun, relaxing vacation, and that you indulged in some Chocolate Therapy. So that made me look up the nearest store locations of a Ben & Jerry's scoop shop by me, and whaddya know, there's one actually by my office!!! I'll be able to indulge in some Chocolate Therapy, hopefully by this Friday afternoon. Woot!

Thanks for the tip there.

STOP! Don't do it! It's HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!! (Chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookies and swirls of chocolate pudding) OMG! Soooo good!

Here's the kicker.....three summer's ago, it was a Limited Edition flavor in pints. I fell in love with it. So, since it was Limited Edition, I was buying it ALL the time. All. The. Time. Because....you know....it was limited edition. So, sadly, my time ended with Chocolate Therapy after a glorious summer and about 10 lbs. It was only within the past year I discovered IT NEVER WENT AWAY! It's just, thankfully, not in the pints anymore.

You just made me want it more so badly, hehehe. I was looking thru Ben & Jerry's website, and the flavor I'm also worried about overindulging in is their pumpkin cheesecake ice cream... OMG, my 2 favorite things, in one creamy calorie bomb!!!

While I love chocolate and don't even mind eating cookies.. the very last type of ice cream I'd eat is either chocolate IC or an ice cream with cookie dough.
Now.. if we are talking cherries, nuts, caramel, coffee or by exception white chocolate.. then we are talking
Also.. now you're posting polls left & right , why not start a Ben & Jerry vs Häagen Dazs poll. I've tried each & every single flavour that B&J bring out, but every single time I was like.. nah.. gimme HD instead. I'd love to know what others think. Haven't tasted enough of 'Cows' or any other smaller brand ice cream to have a good opinion. I do know a lot of people love an IC called Stonefield? (not sure.. )

But to get back to you.. I'd never thunk that you , such a disciplined gal were once eating pints & pints of ice cream or swigging vodka. I guess that anyone can become a disciplined eater.

That's because everyone has different tastes, for sure. Just like I'd never in a million years eat eggs with fruit and coconut.

Have you ever tried it? You can't judge anything before trying. Unless you already hate & despise anything with coconut in it, that is.. then I understand.
I've had chocolate IC often enough to know it's not 'my' thing..

Welcome back - glad you had a fun vaca.

I guess one advantage to not feeling well is that all I can think about when I think of ice cream right now is "bleh". Otherwise, that would probably be like heaven...

I've never been to a Cold Stone Creamery because I'm SO afraid if I tried it once I'd never be able to stop going!

Bytsi - Cold Stone is delish. They do have a few healthy options like sorbet and a low fat sweet cream. DH always wants to go there and sometimes I give in...much like I sometimes give in and go to Ben and Jerry's. Oatmeal cookie dough...top notch.

Anywho - Nice workout Jane! Did I miss a post about what program is next?

Hi Bree! Funny you should ask, as I was just sitting here tossing around ideas. I may finish out the remaining 8 weeks of PT Strength. I really do like the program. I am also itching to start 5-3-1. BUT, if I finish out Strength, I may have some higher 1RM figures to work with when I start 5-3-1. Decisions, decisions!

And, thankfully, there are no B&J shops near me, so no temptation. But, Coldstone Creamery is soooo good. I actually have one very close to my work, but I've only been there a couple of times in the last few years. I did see a sign on the window the other week advertising their smoothies and you can get protein added....only 10 grams, though. Might be nice for a treat sometime.
