There is no US mid-East in common speech.

Just Middle West, in the US. Jane meant real Middle Eastern, the one between Europe and Asia.

Well, as there's a US Mid-West I assumed there was a Mid-East as well.. so who knows?

It seems to be mid relative to the population base and the new frontier. Thus from the East, mid-West is partway to the West. From the NorthEast, the mid-Atlantic is partway down the Eastern seaboard.

Mid-east as in dark and handsome, as in Lebanese, as in Sayid from Lost (although he's really and Indian PLAYING an Iraqi), as in Egyptian (though some don't think of Egypt as the ME any longer, but, you get the picture...

Was thinking of Egypt myself as well as being 'mid-East' despite the fact that geographically speaking it probably isn't part of it.
Did you know Lyle has Lebanese roots

Oh very cool. I think you must have rocked the session after talking to him!

I really enjoy reading your log Jane, and if you do decide to do figure, I think that is awesome, something I always wanted to try, just can muster the courage!

You are a natural for the competition stage. Very pragmatic and dedicated. That's really what it takes more than anything else. It would be fun and despite how some people feel you can go to the stage in a healthy and intelligent way. Figure and BBer competitors are largely screwed up but there are many who are actually quite sane and smart. You could easily be one of them.

WTG on getting noticed by one of the bbers. That is the coolest thing ever and even better if he is sort of interesting on a "stress release" sort of way...

Thanks for the victorias secret tip, I'll remember it for later.

And I think you should go for a competition. Why not, you're so close already.

Holy crap Jane, you are one strong woman! Those are some awesome squats!

Do you include the bar weight when you record your weight?(so: bar = 40lbs, plates = 85lbs total?)

Sunshine - the bar is 45# (standard weight for a bar) - and I believe that Jane notates like most of us around here - so 125# = total weight of bar plus plates.

(ps - nice squat, Jane)

Bytsi got it right.....and thanks.

I've put a concentrated focus on Squat, DL, RDL, and Bench for the last few months. I've been working through some strength programs and it's really pushed me to progress on these lifts. Compared to others around here (like Bytsi!), it's peanuts. But, compared to ME, I've made significant gains. And, I've been on maintenance+ for a few weeks, so that always helps.

All that matters is compared to YOU. I feel the same though. I want to keep up with the strongest, but need to remind myself how far I have come in the past 2 years.

Great lifting going on Jane. Getting noticed by someone who knows their stuff is one of the best compliments. Keep us updated

Bree's right, it's not about comparing to anyone else... you've made a lot of strength gains and most of them while eating at deficit. All that matters is YOUR progress, right?

I'd go nuts if I compared myself to everyone else's numbers... (or is it too late - I'm already nuts? )

Have fun on your trip! And I'm so late in my reply here, but it's so cool and neat that you got noticed at the gym. Obviously, you are doing something right over there that is drawing some good attention.

After about 10 days of total numbness and falling asleep of my arms and hands during sleep, it finally stopped. I've been doing a lot of stretching of my shoulders, back, pecs, and wrists. I don't know if that did it or what. But, no falling asleep for several days now. So happy! My arms still ache a bit, but I'm just pushing through that. I think the total break from the gym for the next week will be great!

begin food hijack now.

mmmmm grits. I do them all sorts of fun ways. cheese grits are the best, I like grated gruyere with nutmeg. and heavy cream. splash of really good sherry. served with steamed florida lobster.

they are also good sweet. diced mango, agave syrup, splash of lime. mmmmmm grits.

sorry jane, continue on with your usual strong, PR setting self.
