I agree, the woman in the gym is sad. Like the other end of the spectrum, where I came from, the reality is that they have to find their own way. Friends/relatives might be able to help, but who knows. I see girls on both ends of the spectrum at the college. It is sad.
I am amazed at your strength gains. You really do encourage so many of us to make sure we focus on form over weight. That if we really want to reach a goal and are consistent, we can get there.

Yeah, I wonder if I'll ever see her again. She looked like she was on death's door.

Taking an off day from lifting today. Working out some new DOMS due to the change-up in my workout this week. I'm just going to stick with the Power Training until my vacation (Sept 3-9). I am WAY overdue for a training break, so I shall do just that while on vacation (except for lots of walking). Then, I've got to buckle back down again if I am going to reach my goals by year-end. Will likely be some more UD2ish weeks (I can't say UD2 because I don't know if I can or WANT to go back to any more depletion workouts).
I've been hooked on Strength workouts for a while now, and just maybe I need to change that up a bit. I'll just need to assess where I am and plot out the rest of the year and see what's what. Fat loss vs. Strength.....just not a fair match-up at all. It sure is a HELLUVA lot harder to lose the last few pounds of fat than it EVER was to lose the majority of it earlier on in the game. Man, looking back, that was a piece of cake!
I hate days off. I wish I could go back to the days when working out 5-6 times a week would get me leanner.
I was just thinking about that... the "good ol' days" when I did cardio like a dog, lifted (but had minimal clue about what I was doing) and lost weight...
sigh...
... of course I had a LOT more weight to lose then. Wouldn't it be nice if beginner gains could keep going indefinitely?
Well, I seem to be suffering from some sort of injury/ailment. My arms and hands keep falling asleep/going numb when I sleep. The last few days it's gotten to be worse and yesterday I even felt it persist ever so slightly during the day. So, I don't know....CTS, pinched nerve? Last night I stretched and foam rolled really good and it wasn't quite as bad. Today's workout, however, I didn't push it in case I DO have a pinched nerve. And, right now, my arms feel like jello and this wasn't a super arm-intensive workout. So, something isn't quite right. Will monitor for a few days, and treat if necessary. I'm thinking my vacation is coming at a good time, as maybe a break from the weights is needed at this time.

I admit I don't know much about the city, but from the photos and information I just found, it looks like an interesting place to visit. I know you'll have a good time.
just had to comment on the avi. You're all jacked diesel.
Thanks! (hope that was a compliment!)
Had a somewhat better night last night. Still continuing with the stretching and foam rolling routine. Will also continue on with my workouts. Tonight is squat night.
Have a great time in Charleston!! I went there once on business many years ago - actually took my son with me (he was probably 10 or 11 at the time!). GREAT city (the little bit I was able to see!)

Do you know if you sleep with your arms bent at the elbows (tight) with your hands near your face? Or do you sleep with your arms over your head? Have you started any new meds or anything? There are several things that can cause your arms/hands to go get tingling during the night. Most often it is the position in which you sleep. Think of it as when your foot goes to sleep. Not saying it couldn't be something else, but try and beomce conscious how where your arms are when you sleep and straigthen them out more often.
I had a very similar thing happen to me, numb left hand, arm when I wake up, and during the day in my thumb of my left hand. Slightly pinched nerve. I noticed my strength waning on my left too.
I foam rolled and stretched too, chiropractor helped. It took time to get better and not get any worse while still lifting weights.
I had that experience in my left arm and hand. My chiro gave me some neck exercises and it resolved it except for an occasional recurrence in the last two fingers in my left hand. When it happens, I do the neck exercises and it usually resolves it.
Felt REAL good in the gym today. This workout really is hard for me with all of the explosive movements at the beginning and then again in the middle. Nice workout.
Hey, good to know others have the numb thing going on. I've been troubled by it, but am still leaning towards a pinched nerve. I'm even thinking maybe doing those super heavy (for me) quarter squats maybe pressed on a nerve. That bar was scary heavy on my back for me! Who knows.....my arms are really aching right now after my workout. Hopefully, they will calm down shortly. I'll do my stretching and rolling again, tonight.
