Great job on the chins and pulls. I'm trying really hard to get to 10 chinups and so far my max is 8. I can only do 2 pullups and a max of 4 dips. I'm not quite there with the upper arm strength.
jane, you totally win the prize for the biggest strength improvement over the course of all of these challenges. you are proof positive that a consistent, non-ego driven work ethic, with careful attention to form, is a surefire path to improved fitness and strength. In all of this time, I have never seen you jack up the numbers aggressively and use poor form just to report higher numbers. I never see you overtrain yourself into an injury. you have been a smart, consistent athlete, and as a result, here you are, reaching your goals in a healthy, fit, non-injured body. way to totally dominate it!
Wow, Wendy, what a great motivational post for me to read right before I go train this morning! THANKS!! I can't wait until we can all workout together.....won't that be fun!
Yes Jane, you really are something to behold when it comes to staying true to form .
Now.. in case you do train w asymmetric disks.. remember: keep the power inside the bar

WTG on the stregnth gains Jane! Now your body is really starting to recomp as opposed to just lose fat. I can't wait to see the before/after pics. Did you take pics of the after wrt to UD2 cycle that you just did? Those would be fascinating.

I have to agree with Wendy. Every post about your workouts is so positive and so strong - you are such an inspiration, Jane!

Thanks! It's amazing to me that I can be an inspiration, but I'll take it!

Thanks, Bree. Yeah, that Wendy has a way with words, doesn't she!
HOT HOT HOT again here today! I think I'll go to the gym tonight and get out of the heat. Not sure what to do between now and vacation. I just hate to start something and then have to break. May just keep going with the NROL Strength plans (modified) or may begin Power Training Strength Push/Pull and just work around the break. I'll decide by tonight.
Workouts continue to kick ass! Totally agree with Wendy!! You are just awesome!
Thanks so much!

Trust me, if *I* can do it, anyone can!

Completely forgot to relate this story from the gym the other night. This girl and guy came into the weights area....first time I've ever seen them. I'm guessing the girl was around my age, but it's REALLY hard to know. She was my height and so sickly skinny and pale and just looked terrible. She had on shorts and her legs looked like toothpicks. Standing next to her, I looked so big....it was a strange feeling. I wanted to pick her up and throw her over my shoulder and drag her out of there to get her a few sammiches. So, she picks up 3 lb dumbbells and does shrugs for 5 minutes straight and then sits down on a bench, exhausted. Then, they leave. So strange. I couldn't stop thinking about her and worrying about her. Obviously, I still am since I came here to tell you guys about her!
Jane, your consistent progress over the past couple of years are simply amazing to me. You're like the little engine who could -- except you aren't "little" any longer -- look at those guns! Or maybe the tortoise, finishing ahead of the world's hares.
I seem to be stuck on fairy tales today. Whatever the case, I'm very, very proud of you, Jane.

Sounds like an eating disorder doesn't it? I once knew a girl in school that would ask her mom to pack her a bologna sandwich and grapes for lunch everyday.
She would take one bite out of the middle of the sandwich, and two grapes and throw the rest away. Then she would go out after school and say she was studying and lock herself in the car with the windows rolled up, in order to sweat . . .
She did eventually get help though, and is doing very well now. It is amazing what we sometimes make our bodies go through.

Great workout! Those deadlifts are looking so great.
Last Saturday I saw a woman who could have been my age but maybe older? Because like you, I couldn't tell because she was so emaciated. I ran past her twice - she was running too - (around a lake), and at one point she was in front of me and everyone that past her looked so shocked and confused and would whisper to each other about how awful she looked. It was painful to watch her run since she looked like she was in pain. You could see every muscle and bone. Sad.
