Nice lifting and progress on all fronts, Jane! I 'm so glad to hear you found a good place for your mother. I want to live there too! Especially if someone else does the dishes! (Although, I do realize it will be hard to break the news/convince her.) Good luck when the time comes.
Also wishing you good luck telling your mom! It does sound like a great place--hopefully all the freedom involved will help.

Well, we found an assisted living place for my mom. It's beautiful. I love it. I want to live there. I am truly so happy and at peace with our decision. I think today is the day we tell my mom. I think. My sister and I are dreading this, even though we know once she's there, it will be for the best. Here are the good things about the place:
It sounds like a good choice Jane. I remember my mother talking about moving my grandmother into an assisted living place a few years before she passed away. She hated the idea, but she really was to the point where she couldn't live on her own. She ended up loving the place as suddenly she was surrounded by people. Up to that point she had been living alone in her cottage in a very small village. Now she had all sorts of people her own age to socialize with. I hope things go well with your mother.

Kickass workouts, as usual!
Thanks, everyone! The talk with my mom went pretty well. No tears, but I could tell she was on the verge. Baby steps. But, she hasn't shut us down yet. We are giving her a few days to let it sink in and to think about it. We have asked her to just go look at it with us. I think she will agree. We can't wait forever, though, because with her weight at approx 75 lbs, time is of the essence.

Thanks, Greg! Squatting and DLing again, tonight. Hope I can put in another strong showing.
My Grandmother (who raised me) had to eventually go into a nursing home about the age of 77. She wasn't happy about the idea but it prolonged her life by about eight years. And once she was in there she came to....well, I don't want to say that she enjoyed it. But, she didn't hate it. She met alot of people that she liked and actually got to see more family than when she lived by herself. Not to mention that she got to see her great grandchildren grow up for another eight years.
It an awful decision to have to face, but not necessarily a bad thing. I hope that it turns out well for you and yours.

Wow, Jane, you're on a hot streak! And I'm so glad that your mom seems to be open to moving. It's a hard road to take, but I hope that she will take your recommendations and move into the facility, which sounds like the best and most perfect place for her.
It'd be fun to go to one of those yearly JP Fitness conference events just to watch all the gals here lift your weights... Wow I'd love that!
good list, Jane. How 'bout a video?

Thanks, gang! Definitely making a lot of progress on the NROL Strength workouts! Very happy about it. Should be a nice transition to 5-3-1 in a few weeks.
Jane, thanks for that book title you gave to Etana. I looked it up online and am currently reading the exercise chapter that is posted as a PDF file. It is very informative.
That's what I think every time after coming into this log
Saw the book in my bookcase the other day and did think hmmm should be rereading it as I forgot all about it.. it made sense at the time until Lyle poked fun of the GH thing (no carbs during & after exercise as GH would be blunted = 0.00001% of a difference)
Yet.. there were many things I liked at the time of reading.
Crossing fingers your mom will love the new assisted-living place
looking at the NHE book takes me back to reading the old misc.fitness.weights discussions. Lyle was there, and Faigin was there (or at least mentioned there) , and Brink was there sometimes, and Freides was there and MistressKrista was there, Keith Hobman - good times.
Ah, right, Lisa! I knew there was another NHE person on the board!! I've always been a lower carb person and I've always done a variation of carb cycling, but I seem to always be drawn back to NHE (although TNT plan C, *I think*, is very similar, too).
