Hey Jane, the way you talk about depletion workouts is how I feel on track days. Yuk!

Wow, my legs are fried today! I couldn't bear the thought of 12 sets on the machines last night for my legs, so I did 6 sets of 15-rep squats (alternated front and back squats) and then did 6 sets of 15-rep deads. I did do a pretty low weight for these, but STILL! That's 90 reps of squats and 90 reps of deads! Looks like I won't be repeating that tonight.....will be back to the 12 sets on the machines.

ETA: Of course, this doesn't even take into consideration the gazillion other 6 sets of 15 I had to do for all the other areas (chest, shoulders, bis, tris, back, calves)....yeah, it DOES feel like a gazillion.

Whew! Depletion workouts DONE for the week! YES! Tonight's actually went pretty well. I did a bunch of giant supersets (6 times through 5 different exercises - 15 reps each set) and that seemed to break it up a bit. Rest day tomorrow, which I always need and then Friday I get to lift FUN again....and, of course, start my beloved carb load.

hmmm....good question, Jill. I may push it out to 8 weeks, which is the max that Lyle recommends. I feel like I am on a roll, and may just go with it. Then, take 2 weeks at full maintenance.

Jane, I am so curious and excited to see what your results on this are! If I remember right, you aren't weighing right now? Do you feel good about the progress so far?

Jane, I just have to say that everytime I see your lovely flower basket icon I feel happy. Those are the most lovely flowers. Did you do the baskets yourself?

Bree, no, I am weighing daily. Only because I am tracking my pattern (ie, what did I weigh today vs. what did I weigh a week ago today). Because of the extreme cycling, my weight graph chart looks like a roller coaster! So, I am tracking to make sure that the highs for the week are lower than the previous weeks highs and that the lows are either the same or lower than the previous weeks low. Hope that makes sense!!

As for progress, I feel like it's been a great few weeks. I've hit PR's every Sunday during my power workout (which, basically, is what I am working towards all week with this cycling), so I believe that I have kept all of my LBM...maybe even gained a little. We'll see! I've got some pretty lofty goals in mind, so I'm really focused right now.

Sorry, Annette, I missed your post yesterday. No, I do not do the hanging baskets myself. I have been going to the same greenhouse for about 20 years. I pre-order them in February and he custom makes them for me for pickup each May. I love them.

Ginger!! He wasn't!!!

*********

SOOOOO glad it's Friday. What a long ass week. It's been cold and rainy all week here in NE Ohio. Add in two depletion workouts, a sick puppy, and boring work and it made for a looooong week, indeed.

Good news is that the sun is out today, Violet is better, I get to do a REAL workout tonight and I get to carb load tonight! My carb load "treat" this week is graham crackers with toasted marshmallow cream. Doesn't that sound goooood!

Back later tonight to post my Tension Workout for Week 6. I'm looking forward to it.

No, I understand that he wasn't, but all the comments were making me giggle and your response that you would certainly know if he had been. Sorry, my post made it look like I wasn't paying attention and I was!

No, I didn't think that at all, Ginger.....I just figured you were thinking like all the other girls.....that he WAS and I just didn't realize it!!! LOL!

(I'd prefer to think he was being sincere, rather than just trying to ploy me with flirtatious compliments instead ) LOL!

I mean it wasn't like that dude who followed me off the expressway as I got to the hotel.....THAT was obvious. What was his name?????

UD2 Tension Workout - Week 6

As with past weeks, not supposed to hit any PR's with this workout, but any red is where I've got rep PR's, not weight PR's. I didn't push it on the weight because I'm supposed to not hit failure and save it for Sunday's power workout. I upped the reps past six where I could. Felt real good working out today.

Squat
6x110
6x110

Front Squat
6x85
6x85
*YOO HOO TINA...you must have missed this last time!! I got 85, too!.....ummm..well....lbs that is.

Deadlift
4x135
6x115

Romanian Deadlift
6x135
8x115

Bench Press
6x70
8x65

BO Row with BB
6x90
7x85

DB Incline Bench Press
6x30's
7x27.5's

Cable Row
6x100
7x93.5

DB O/H Shoulder Press
6x25's
7x22.5's

Barbell O/H Shoulder Press
5x50
8x45

Swiss Ball Crunch
3 sets of 15

Now, off to eat a ton of carbs for the next 24 hours!! See you soon!

Power Workout UD2 Week 5 (aka "after the carb load!")

Pleased with today's workout; however, my pressing strength is definitely suffering a bit. Was to be expected, so I am told. With my deadlifts today, I fell victim to overthinking. I just could not get into the groove of them today, but RDL's rocked.

Squat
4x95
4x115
5x125
6x95
*PR for reps

Front Squat
5x85
5x95
4x95
*most reps at 95 in a set

Deadlift
4x135
4x125
5x120

Romanian Deadlift
5x155
4x165
5x155
*most reps at 155 and first time ever at 165

Flat Bench Press
3x75
6x70
8x65

B/O Row with BB
4x100
5x95
7x95
*PR for reps

Incline DB Bench Press
6x30's
8x27.5's
8x27.5's

Assisted Chins
4x16 lb assistance
5x22 lb assistance
5x28 lb assistance

*PR for reps

Cable Row
6x112.50
7x106
8x100
*PR for reps

O/H Press with DB's
3x27.5's
5x25's

U/H Grip Lat Pulldown
3x118.5
4x112.5
6x106
*PR for reps

BB O/H Press
1x60
1x55
6x50
8x45

Now, off to take the dog for a walk, take care of my mom, tend to the veggie garden, mow the lawn, run some errands, and cook for the week. Whew!

I tackled, but came up short. Lawn gets mowed tonight. BUT, in all fairness, a freak cloudburst came out of NOWHERE and nixed the mowing plans last evening.

Got in my first depletion workout tonight. This is my 7th week of UD2, and I was originally going to do 6 weeks and then break for two. But, I'm going on vacation over Labor Day, so I decided to push it out to 9 weeks of UD2 and then my 2 week break would fall right in line for my vacation. But, I'm not sure I can go the full 9 weeks. Maybe because I had it in my head that I was originally going to break at 6 weeks has made this week harder....dunno. At any rate, I will follow thru til the end of this cycle (next Monday) and then decide. Maybe my power workout on Sunday will be the deciding factor. If I am still making gains in the gym, I will be able to keep going.

We got a funny email today from HR....a local gym is offering employees membership with no initiation fee and there is an open house on Friday for us. The memo from the gym said "Start getting healthy TODAY!" and then in the next sentence it said "Pizza and pop will be served". That just cracked me up!

That doesn't surprise me (about the pizza and pop) although you would think that they would offer better options. Of course, I sometimes think that they're trying to sell the idea that you can eat what you want as long as you workout. Good luck on making it through the next three weeks. You know you can do it Jane!

My gym does stuff like that all the time. Lately there has been this recording in between the bad music that says: "Want to know the difference between burning calories and burning fat? Talk to a trainer today!"

I should go ask one sometime and see what they say. "So sir, please tell me how I can burn fat...I don't want to burn calories, only fat. Which machine will help me do that?"
