I can't wait for my power workout this morning, either!! I get very little scale movement....this time, one pound from Friday morning to this morning.

It's odd really, isn't it.. back in the true very low carb days even just 250g of carbs would make me bloat like a cow.. easly 7lbs (3-3.5kg) gain.. now 500g can even result in a net loss the next day.
Whether you'll have a net loss over the entire week just depends on the overall calorie intake and you were aiming for maintenance or was it slightly under?

Power Workout UD2 Week 4 (aka "after the carb load!")

Well, I had that young couple making out at the gym during Friday's workout and today there was a lady carrying a newborn in it's car seat carrier thingie around to each station/equipment. WTF??? I complained to the gym people....that's just not right. What a freaking distraction. BUT, I didn't let it deter me from the job today. See below:

Squat
4x100
4x115
4x120

Front Squat
4x80
4x85
4x90

Deadlift
2x145
4x135
4x135
*again....really wanted to go for a PR here, but felt my CNS just wasn't having it today...next time. A bit disappointing; however, since my bodyweight is at an all-time low, I guess that the 145 isn't so bad.

Romanian Deadlift
4x140
4x150
3x155

Flat Bench Press
4x75
4x70
5x70
*my pressing seems to be the only thing stagnating or suffering a bit on UD2, and I hear that's common. But, pressing has always been my biggest weakness.

B/O Row with BB
4x95
4x95
4x100

Incline DB Bench Press
1x35's
4x30's
4x30's
4x30's
*Did one rep again with 35's.....this time it looked a bit nicer, but still couldn't squeeze out 2. For me, this is the hardest jump in weight -- from 30 to 35. And, again, the pressing is my weakness.

Assisted Chins
4x22 lb assistance
4x28 lb assistance
4x28 lb assistance

Cable Row
4x112.50
4x106
4x106

O/H Press with DB's
4x25's
5x25's
5x25's
*couldn't do the 26.5's today, so increased the volume a bit on the last 2 sets.

U/H Grip Lat Pulldown
4x112.504x106
4x106

BB O/H Press
4x55
4x55
5x50

Great workout!! And, it's a beautiful day, so I ended it with a nice, long walk with Violet and just enjoyed this gorgeous morning!! Feel great!

Jane--

Your bench press still looks good to me. And I agree on the jump from 30 to 35 on the incline db bench press. I messed up my shoulder going from 30's to 35's, which was just a mistake on my part because my gym had 32.5's and I just grabbed the wrong DB's. Now that I have the shoulder issue, going up in weight on any bench press version is a struggle. I cannot ever imagine pressing a 40 or 45 lb. db. I just have a hard time believing I will ever get that strong.

ETA: Just noticed that your RDL is higher than your CDL. I don't think I've ever been able to handle more than 90 lbs. on an RDL...partly because of my grip. But your CDL's still look strong. I am inching my way up 5 lbs. at a time and just crept up to 140.

Wow - those carb loads really work! Great workout.

I was under the impression that children go to the daycare in the gym...how safe is it to have a baby in the weights area? I like behbies, but would have been annoyed, too.

My guess is that the baby was too young for the daycare. Most gyms require them to be a certain age. From my viewpoint, as long as the baby is sleeping or not screaming, why not let the new mom get her workout in? Having been there I think I can sympathize more with someone who is desperate to get some sort of workout done but has no baby sitter or anything. Just my two cents, but I'm biased.

Jane! You're kicking ASS!

I never thought of them being too young...now that I remember back to joining I think the day care at my gym has a minimum age of 6 months? I always worry about the baby more then the adults This coming from the person when babysitting constantly still checks on my 3 year old nephew when he is sleeping to make sure he is breathing okay. I have a lot to learn!

I'm surprised the gym would allow it for liability reasons. I know that would never happen at 24 Hour. Only kids who are members, which would be 12 and up, are permitted on the gym floor. I, too, understand the woman's situation and it may not have been a dangerous situation, but you never know. When my first baby was very tiny I would do Jane Fonda's first WORKOUT video during his naps. Since he took very short naps he'd usually wake up and I'd be doing floor exercises while cradling him in one arm and nursing him. It was a challenge, but I got it done!

I've very seriously though about taking my newborn down into my basement so that I could get a workout in while taking care of her. But, then I snapped out of it! I'd have to keep the baby so far away that it would be pointless. Plus, its just no place for a baby. So, I just do bodyweight stuff with her around and then do the heavy stuff when I my wife has her.

UD2 Depletion Workout 1 of 2/Week 5

Got my first of two back to back depletion workouts done tonight. I actually got about 1 1/2 done because tomorrow I am pressed for time due to doctor appts for my mom. I was going to try and just do it ALL in one workout, and that was just not going to happen! I just couldn't face TWELVE SETS of 15 reps! SIX is bad enough!

15-18 reps of leg extensions - 6 sets
15 reps of leg curls - 6 sets
15 reps of calf raise - 6 sets
15-20 reps of DB Incline Chest Press - 6 sets
15 reps of Wide Grip Lat Pulldown - 3 sets
15 reps of Cable Row - 3 sets
15-20 reps DB OH Press - 6 sets
20 reps of Bicep Curls DB - 8 sets
17 reps of Tricep O/H Press - 8 sets

Repeat tomorrow, except I am done with shoulders, bi's and tri's for this week.

Jane,
Your hanging baskets are absolutely gorgeous! Million Bells Petunias can make the prettiest hanging baskets.

How is UD going? I see you are in week 5. How many weeks are you doing?

Gorgeous home, Jane! The flowers are just lovely.

I am glad you didn't do those two workouts in one day - that would have been crazy! Although i know you would have pulled it off in style if you had to

Those aren't million bells (though I do have them out back). Those are Wave Petunias.

UD2 is going great! I'm doing 6 cycles, then a break.

The home is lovely and LOL at Violet. Sherman does the same thing. I cannot take a picture of my house without his face peeping out if he is inside.

I can't wait to see the "after" pics from this UD2 6 week cycle. I expect that there will be some fairly significant changes given the results in the gym that we are seeing already.

Ugh. Today was a terrible day. It was the Senior Center Doctor appt with my mom. She is still losing weight. Under 80 lbs today. The doctor warned her that at her next appt with her GP that a feeding tube will likely be suggested, as well as more tests to rule out cancer of some sort, since she's been losing weight so steadily. I honestly still think it's all about the food (or lack thereof), but maybe there is something else. We didn't even touch on the mental issues today because the main concern was the weight. And, my mom cried because she doesn't want to be so frail and feel so badly. It made me cry.

I am now glad that I didn't do both depletion workouts last night because I need to go to the gym to snap out of this malaise.

I don't know what else to do with my mom. This is the hardest thing I have gone through.

On a brighter note....BEFORE the doctor's appt, my sis and I took her out to lunch because my sister's birthday is Sunday and she will be on vacation at the beach. I got her a new clutch purse, which she was thrilled with. THEN, I told her that you can't give a gift of a purse without putting something in it (usually, that would be money). So, she looked in the little inside pocket and found........a new IPOD! The new ipod shuffle that is as big as a piece of Dentyne gum! She was so excited....her first ipod! So, I was glad to make someone so happy today!

Now, some playtime with Violet and then off to the gym.
