Kristen, you are too sweet. As strong as you are, this is quite a compliment!!

Well, I've sure been busy. I took Friday off to get my usual "Saturday" stuff done. I mowed, trimmed, did all my homework, finished a novel (for school), did my mom stuff, ran errands, cleaned house, walked pup for miles! Then, had school ALL day Saturday (8-5) on THE most beautiful day. Walked as much as I could during breaks and lunch. Now, today, I have mowed again (the lawn wasn't as perfect as I like it from Friday's mowing ), changed all the bedding, laundry, and now I am waiting on my sis and niece for a visit. My niece wants to play with the pup (who is now so pooped out, I'm not sure how that's going to go!), then we are running to the store. I may get in a workout, but won't sweat it if I don't. I'll just do a Mon and Tues workout instead.

So, all in all, a lovely weekend weather-wise, full of lots of NEAT. Feels sooooo good to be running around in shorts and a tank top.

NROL Strength II D
Workout 12 of 16
April 27, 2009

Superset with Full Rest
Barbell Push Press

4x60
3x60
7x55
10x50

Assisted Pullups
6x40 lbs assistance
6x40 lbs assistance
6x40 lbs assistance
*gym was too crowded to use my bands for these first 3 sets. Then, switched to my assistance band for the last high-rep set
16 x assistance band (most reps at this level of resistance)

*****
Superset with full rest
Dumbbell Incline Bench Press
5x30's
4x30's

8x27.5's
*most reps at 30.....getting to 35 is going to be really tough here.

Cable Seated Row
4x106
4x106
12x87.5

*****
Seated Russian Twist
10x35 lb plate
2 minute 15 sec plank!
*you should have heard the sounds coming out of me during those last LOOOOONG 15 seconds!

Four more workouts and then on to Strength III. Tomorrow is squat day, which is one of my favorite workouts in Strength II (today's is my least favorite, actually). And, I also get my monthly caliper measurements done. I'm actually 'feeling' larger in the last week or so, so it will be interesting to see what has happened since my last month's reading.

I should be able to finish up Strength III by the end of May and then I think for the grand finale, I'll do a Fat Loss program just to shake things up. Maybe a modified WSFL or something similar....just in time for the heart of summer.

Jane I am so darn impressed with your workouts. Can't wait to see another bench PR! And thanks again for the inspiration. Your first challenge results were the reason I started to believe that a leaner body was possible for me.

NROL Strength II B
Workout 114 of 16
April 30, 2009

Superset with Full Rest
Barbell Bent-Over Row

4x85
4x85
8x80
12x75

Barbell Bench Press
6x75!
2x80
5x75
7x70
10x60
*Most reps at 75! YEAH!!!! Most reps at 80! DOUBLE YEAH!

*****
Superset with full rest
Assisted Pull-ups
3
4
12
*First 2 sets done with less resistance, and third set done at more resistance. I felt pretty wiped at this point and didn't do as well on my pu's as usual. It must have been all of that row work for my HYOOOOOGE lats and the BP's.

Dumbbell Shoulder Press
4x25's
4x25's
8x22.5's

*****

Seated Russian Twist
10x35 lb plate
10x35 lb plate

2 MINUTE 48 SECOND PLANK. OMG!!!
*I was moaning....literally. I'm sure people were staring and wondering what the hell was wrong with me.

Nice way to end out this workout and the month. This was one of my favorite workouts in Strength II, and one in which I made the most progress (ie BP). What had been my plateau for so long has finally been broken. Moving on to wave sets (3,2,13,2,1) in Strength III, so I think I can even push it further.

Lisa, funny you should mention that because Violet got spayed today and I was so nervous, but she did great! BUT, she got a painkiller and she's so drugged up, it's like she really drunk! I took a few pics, but I need to get them loaded onto the computer and right now she's laying her with me and I don't want to move. I'll get some loaded tomorrow......from today (she looks like a little ragamuffin!) and from her first real haircut where she looks all spiffy!

(Oh, and thanks for the lifting nod!)

drugged pups can be pretty funny to watch - glad she's doing good (how tiny must the instruments be to spay a tiny puppy like her???)

OK, here are some pics. First we have some cute shots of Violet, including one after her first real haircut. The last two pics are last night after her spaying....one trying to sit up and the other conked out for the night! Doesn't she look so sad!! (She's doing much better today, though she HATES the little tshirt I am making her wear so she doesn't lick her incision).

That dog is toooooo cute. She MUST know she's too cute right?

Jane, you're tearin' up the strength programs. Good for you! Hey, when you're doing 1/4 squats do you want to yell...THEY'RE 1/4 SQUATS PEOPLE....just in case people think you're doing full squats? Honestly, it would feel weird to me to 1/4 squat at this point, I'm so used to just droppin' it like it's hawt ya know?

ETA: Your lats must be screamin' from all those pullups, brah.

YES!!! I totally want to wear a sign that says "These are SUPPOSED to be 1/4 squats!" I actually have said it to a few people I know at the gym just so they don't think I'm an idiot with poor form!! I was hesitant doing them at first, but they have helped me on my ATG squats for sure.

And my lats......they are HYOOOOOGE, Jill! LOL!

ETA: Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure Violet knows she's adorable. I mean, I do tell her about 100x a day.

Taking pics in the morning, Wendy. I'm not sure I'll see much change this month. Weight about the same, BF down some, but it's much more slow going at this point. Also harder to see the nuances in pics. But, progress is progress.
