Well, just when I am 100% focused and feeling like nothing can stop me, I get a kink thrown at me. I have to go to Charlotte for work next week. Workouts are good because I'll get to the gym on Wednesday and Thursday this week and then Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I'll be in Charlotte M-W, but maybe will workout on Wednesday night. If not, for sure on Thursday. So that's good, and I can take walks in the evenings after work M-W.

But, eats I am going to have a problem with. Breakfast is OK at the hotel. But, lunch is going to be dicey because it's being brought in so we can keep the meetings going and not take lunch breaks. Dinner will be OK, too. But, I don't get a carb-up until Wednesday evening, so I am going to have to be pretty low carb (<25 grams per meal). I HATE when they bring in lunch. I guess if worse comes to worst I can do a protein bar and snack on some almonds, if need be.

at least you know Violet will be OK where you board her (you board her, right?)

Years ago I went to a conference out of town during a period that I was doing Optifast (no comments please) - but it was 5 shakes a day (IIRC) and no solid food. Lunch was brought in each day and you had to attend. So I'd go off (usually up to the room since it was close) and mix my shake with water, pound it down and then sit at lunch and be "social" or "network". But - you can do the same in the restroom big stall if you want privacy. Weird but workable.

Seems like you could do a shake for minimum protein requirements and then if there was something at lunch that fit your plan, eat it - if not, at least you are taken care of. I guess you sort of said that with your protein bar + almonds comment.

Yeah, I feel pretty good about leaving Violet. I mean I don't WANT to, but if I have to, I like the place she goes. They love her and she seems to have fun there.

Ideally, I'd like to bring what I need to do a protein shake or two throughout the day, but I'm a blender w/ice kinda gal. Never really could power down PP just shaked up with some water. BUT, I do like to just mix a bit of water in it sludge like with some PB. Maybe I could bring it in my big purse and sneak off for a bit. Hmmm.....I'll figure out something!! I actually know everyone pretty well who will be in attendance at this meeting, so I could just come clean and say "hey, guys....I can't eat that...sorry to be a pain in the ass!"

Hi Jane! I havent' posted in your journal in a loooongg while, but I wanted to add a suggestion to your protein shake scenario. I will measure out my scoop of protein powder and add a tablespoon or two of non-fat dry milk into my little container. I'm with you on the protein powder and water mix not being my first choice, but with the added dry milk it makes it more creamy and ultimately a bit more palatable. BTW, the puppy is too damn cute for words!

NROL Strength I
Workout 7 of 16
March 18, 2009

Deadlifts
6x95
1x125
6x105
1x130
10x90
15x70

********

Superset with NO Rest
Romanian Deadlifts
10x90
10x90
10x85

Static Lunge
10x10's
10x12.5's
10x12.5's

Damn!! That's a ton of deads today!

*********

Good Mornings
10x60
10x60

*********

Incline Reverse Crunch
2 sets of 10

**There could be some PR's in there for most reps at a weight or something, but I didn't go back and check. Almost can DL my weight....just a couple lbs to go!

Had a very nice lady compliment me today at the gym. She's an older (well, like 10 years older than me) very fit petite lady. I've always thought how great she looked (and told her so!). So, it was nice to hear that she's been watching me and thought what I have been doing is looking good.

Workout felt really good today. Maybe it's the placebo effect, but I swear since I've been doing my pre-workout supp that my workouts have just kicked ass!

Tonight is my first carbload in 10 days!!! I can't wait for pasta tonight! Then, back to low carb tomorrow and then I will be officially cycling every 3rd and 4th day.

I love this particular workout in this program. It kills my hamstrings the next day, but it's all good!

I'm also excited to see my stats next time. I hope I show some visible progress. It's harder and harder to see now that my weight is just about right.

Hey Jane, just playing catch-up a little this morning. I'd bring whatever you need to eat (that you can) and just eat it. I surprised myself a couple of weeks back when I went to a presentation here at the school. Lunch was provided (pizza and pop), but I only felt slightly odd bringing in my lunch. Although one of the women from the company actually made a comment that mine looked better. (wrap, roast beef, lettuce/veggies). Although, unless your hotel has a fridge, it can be a pain.

I've kept things cold in hotel rooms (small coolers, keep refilling with ice), so it is possible, but not fun. No matter what you decide, I know you'll do well. Of course I'll admit, I'm never fond of catered food (sandwiches especially) and I can usually pass on it.

Good luck, and have fun.

Crazy busy at work today trying to wrap up a ton of shit before next week's Charlotte meetings. Planning on rocking the workouts this weekend both days and getting a ton of stuff done around the house...yard work, pressure washing, lawn fertilized, maintenance on the mower, etc. I'm going to try really hard to break that 3,000 cal on the GWF!

Got a TEENSY bit of better news from the Alzheimer's doc at my mom's appointment yesterday. We'll take what we can get! At least things haven't gotten worse.

Will be spot on with my food this weekend just in case next week gets a little dicey.

Happy Spring, everyone!

Another killer workout, Jane! I just remembered something when you mentioned your mom's Alzheimer's doc. Have you contacted the Alzheimer's Association for info and support? I receive the SC chapter's newsletter and it just came yesterday. I thought of you. Their number is 800.272.3900 and website www.alz.org
