mmm food porn in someone else's log. see, I'm not the only one.

I'm with stingo. ask for a spot. although I have to admit, not sure which exercise would be best for a first spot. bench press is rather intimate, but then again, squats are too in a different way. hmmm so many choices....

That's about the only exercise I could think of that would plausibly require a spot - unless instead of asking for a spot the question would be to ask him to watch his form and she'd do likewise?

Have you tried a simple "hi" with accompanying smile yet? If so, where did that lead?

Thanks everyone! You know, I am just so new at all this....having been "out of the game", so to speak, for so many years. I have managed a friendly "hi" and a smile and even worked in on the lat machine with him and his buddy (brother?). I feel like there is potential there. It's just hard to get much farther than that when all of us are doing our thing with our workouts. I'll keep trying!! I'm just not used to this....it's been a LOOOOOONG time since I've even had to think about dating or any of that!

On the plus side, all of my working out and doing so well with my nutrition is inspiring me and making me more confident!

awesome job on the confidence. I have found the same thing with the confidence, although it is manifesting in different ways, lol!

Tonight's dinner is Shrimp Diavalo (shrimp tossed with red pepper flakes, cooked in olive oil. remove from pan. saute up in same pan a large sliced onion, add a can of chopped fire-roasted tomatoes and some fresh parsely and fresh basil and toss the shrimp back in!)

YUM!

Keep up the great work Hudson!

Hi Jane-

When I came home from work last night my Mr. Bento had arrived! Here's how I packed it this morning:

I filled the thermos part with boiling water and let it warm while I microwaved my food
Chicken vindaloo in the big container
Heated up a little rice for the second container
Put tomato and mozzarella salad in the third
baby carrots on top

I'll tell you at lunch time how it all came out. I can barely wait!

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by lately! The encouragement and comraderie is so great around here. I'll be making the rounds as fast as I can!

January 30
NROL4W Stage 1 Workout A (6 of 8)

Squat
10 x 70
10 x 80
10 x 80

Superset
Pushup
10 real ones
10 on smith machine w/bar very low
10 on smith machine w/bar very low

(When I did my first set of real push-ups, I felt my lower back/core wanting to give out and there was a flash of pain in my lower back. I didn't want to risk anything so I went to the smith machine to finish out these sets. I'll monitor that lower back area to be sure everything is A-OK.)

SeatedRow
10 x 55
10 x 55
6 x 60/4 x 50

Superset
Step-ups on 20" bench
10 x 7.5's
10 x bw
10 x bw
(took it back down to bw to concentrate on form -- no point in raising the weight on these if I am cheating to get up)

Prone Jackknife
12 x bw
12 x bw
10 x bw

This was a good workout for me, and I was half expecting to tank on this one. Worked so hard today and worked late to boot, so I was pretty beat, but once I got to the gym, I was fine.

I can't believe it's picture time already this weekend. Time flies....!

I hear ya! My form was fine on my little 10" step I was using before the new one was built and I could pack on the weights. Now that I've moved up to the 18", it's a whole new ball of wax! I'll probably be at bodyweight for quite a while until my non-working leg gets it through its thick skull to play dead.

Hope your back is okay!

"I made banana bread with chocolate chips this morning, stop over and have some...

Focus, Jane, focus!!!

You have done so well with your food plan, Jane! I have read your log when I feel like going to the "crap (not craps) table" here at work. There is always something horrible there. Which, if you looked around my office would explain a LOT.
Stay strong, Girl!

Stay strong. I always tell myself - if you eat what your coworkers eat, you will look like your coworkers. Luckily no food can turn me into a middle-aged bald man, but still.
