E1 Front Squat + High Pull3x12@55 (each side)
E2 Front Squat + Lateral Raise3x12@20 (each side)
F1 Pushups 3x11@BW (each side)
F2 Row3x10@55 (each side)
A Turkish Getup - Ok, so I had the woman who runs the corporate gym come over to check my form/technique and guess what happened... For the first time EVER I was able to do both sides with great form (usually it's just the right). I may just be confident enough with this to add weight now.
B One-Arm Swings - 55! 24kg and 28kg kbs incoming!
C Core Push Press + Goblet Squats - I probably should've done all three sets at 47.5, but eh, this is good too.
D Assisted Pull-up - Definitely moving into new territory here, having hit the -130 now. The last reps of the last set were tough though, so I may have to think about what I want to do next workout.
E1 Front Squat + High Pull - 55 here - need to make sure not to have my free hand on my leg as it makes it easier to do these.
E2 Front Squat + Lateral Raise - No way was I going to be able to move anything over 20, and even that was a challenge.
F1 Push-ups - Stayed the same on the pushups here, but may add one next time on Monday.
F2 Rows - I may not be able to drive 55, but I sure can row it.
Overall - As much as I was backing away from it - this was quite a good workout. I was afraid of not being able to live up to the previous workout on Monday. Turns out I didn't - I went beyond. It's looking like there's something to this carb loading at dinner thing. Since I've been having the brown basmati rice for dinner I've had three good workouts (which includes Tuesday's spinning) so I think I'm going to keep doing it.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later... I left my sneakers at home, so had to do my weigh-in with my spinning shoes on. With the spinning shoes on, my weight's 116.75, but without them on it's 114.75. I plan on finding out how much my sneakers weigh, and add that to the 114.75 and see where I come out at. Probably similar the spinning shoes, but am curious nonetheless.

You truly ARE wasting away Why are you weighing yourself with shoes on?

To be honest I've not thought about it til now. I just stepped on the scale and that was the number. So my true weight is probably a little less, but the numbers I get are accurate in the sense it's true weight + clothes (which never vary). (I somehow don't think the gym would take to the idea of not having the clothes on.)

Ha! You hit part 2 but not part 1. If you weigh 115, I weigh more than you (and could probably deadlift you too)
Ah now I see lol. Yes - 216.75 and 214.75 are the correct numbers. This is what comes of being so concerned about the shoes and botching the numbers. Good catch.

216.5 - Yes, this is the official update! And not a bad one at all. I expect to be up tomorrow because for some reason I was really hungry today. Didn't pig out, but certainly went over maintenance. Ah well such is life. Tomorrow though I go out for Indian food with friends. Should be a good time. I plan to have something vegetarian, something I can make at home to see how I fare with a similar recipe. And I will try my best to stay away from the naan. mmmmm... naan....

[quote=stingo;599991]Had two people ask me today if I lost more weight. The first was a friend at work that I see daily or nearly so. We happened to ride up in the elevator together and she asked me if I'd lost weight this weekend. lol I said, why yes - since the scale was indeed down from Friday's measurement, but I didn't think enough to make a noticeable difference.
The second time was at book club this evening. I'd missed the last meeting since I was away in NYC for my cousin's wedding. Again - got asked if I was losing weight again - and I said I was trying. Response was that I was looking good and to keep up the good work. I said something along the lines of well, now I have to order the steamed chicken and broccoli to keep up with my image lol. Which I actually did. Another member of the club brought in blueberry zucchini bread. I normally abstain from any sort of dessert, but 1) it was homemade, so I give that special consideration, and 2) I love me some zucchini bread. So I had a thin slice and it was very good indeed. I figure a small cheat like that was worth it, plus it made the person who brought it feel good that I had some. So a win-win all around.

That's great about the weight loss comments! Sometimes you can gauge your weight loss even better by what your friends say than what the scale says...
Mmmm...zucchini bread...
My dd and I just made a quadruple batch of whole wheat zucchini bread last night. It's YUMMY, although a tad heavy. I forgot to tell her to add extra baking powder b/c of the whole wheat flour, and to make it worse, when I turned on the oven to preheat, smoke billowed out! She had been making crayons a few days ago and spilled the melted wax in the hot oven. YUK. I didn't think I should put the zucchini bread in so I put the oven on self-clean and baked it tonight. Still yummy though.

Yeah, seriously!!! Though I missed the 116 instead of 216 also. Don't you know you're supposed to get up, pee, and weigh yourself in as little clothing as possible?! Several times, with the scale in several different spots on the floor?! Sheesh, men!

Got my two kettlebells today! A 24kg and a 28kg. Tried a few swings with the 24 and managed just fine. I think I'll see if I can get a 32kg if the sale is still on when they're back in stock, but I think I'll be good on kettlebells for a while (unless I want to make pairs of the ones I have).
In other news, I talked a friend at work into weight training again, so we went to the corporate gym to go through the circuit program I did a few weeks back. We went through the exercises with the woman who runs the gym and she suggested some modifications and the starting weight to use. One of the modifications was doing half squats (instead of full squats) with a view to progressing to the full version as my friend became accustomed to lifting again. A good call, as my friend seemed stiffer when it came to squatting than when she last tried it doing NROL. All in all I think she enjoyed the workout, and found the metabolic component of it a little surprising. I told her that will increase as she works herself up to her training weight and that she did really well. (She can do full situps for a minute... I can't do one yet *sigh*) As for me, I got a little lesson in starting someone off on a lifting program. It was good because the gym manager seemed very receptive to my ideas and showed me some of the considerations for someone new to lifting (or returning after a long hiatus). Of course the fact that she allowed me to "train" (in the most liberal sense of the word) my friend at all was good thing too.

LOL!!!!!! Yeah, not a good idea...
Anyway, great progress!!!
I actually did it a second time when I was posting the official weigh-in update lol, but I caught it in time this time. Hee hee hmm, that's an idea - I could weigh my clothes, then subtract that weight from the scale weight...

I have only had Indian food once in my life...but it was really YUM...especially the naan....
I love Indian food. Someone I know at work happened to be free tomorrow night (his wife and son being out of town) so he called me this morning wanting to know if I wanted to go for Indian food. I said sure - and got another work friend to go too. I expect I'll have a veggie biryani or some such vegetarian dish, unless the chicken tikka masala I've heard so much about catches my eye.

219.75 - Ok, I know I had more calories than usual yesterday, but not 10,500, so I'm guessing there's some fluid retention going on here. Not surprising since this happens when I have stir fry or sushi, and I had both yesterday. No worries though.

Will be leaving to meet up with the Indian restaurant crowd soon. Should be a good time. Rather quiet on my log today, so figured I'd throw a post on. Feeling ambivalent about being good, and am not sure that would extend to having a beer tonight when I got home. It'll work itself out I suppose.

Oh my damn, do I love naan...
Nice job, Tom--you're seriously just doing fantastic in here! Enjoy your yummy Indian food. I would have to say you've earned it...

Yea for new workout stuff! I wanted to thank you for the link to muscledriver. I ordered 2 kettlebells too! Haven't gotten them yet. I went with the pretty ones . I knew I didn't want the gray (rough) ones because I have a hard enough time with my hands as it is and the black ones were too expensive. So even though I don't plan on doing my kettlebell circuit for a while, I was thrilled to take advantage of the sale.
Thanks - I had a good time last night and while I'm sure I was over maintenance it wasn't an oinkfest.

I opted for a veggie biryani which I asked for hot, but got served mild. 3 triangles of naan and part of a samosa and some grilled tandoori chicken. Some other veggie fried stuff but don't remember the name.

I hope she sticks with it this time. We were talking the one day about working out and she was telling me the stuff that she did and was looking for something different. So I suggested that a combination of lifting and spinning worked for me. In all honesty, she's probably active enough, she just needs to adjust her diet. I got her to log a few things on sparkpeople and she was surprised at how much calories came from what she was spending them on. We'll see.

Thanks Tina - I only had my 3 pieces and that was fine. Though I did feel a little guilty, because I'm trying to hit 210 or thereabouts by the end of the month. Looks like it's not going to happen - I'll be close, but not quite. Ah well there are worse things...

Heh you're going to give 'em a test drive when you get them, which should be soon - they ship REALLY quickly. If you look through my log, about 8 pages or so back you'll see the circuit I was doing, which is dumbbell or kettlebell friendly. Do post your impressions on your log or here, as I'd be interested to hear what you think. What sizes did you get?

I hope so - I want to succeed at the challenge that came with the nutrition class I'm taking. I'm already a member of the Y, so it's not the prize that interests me, it's knowing I completed the challenge.

I can't find the relevant rice post now. Anyhow, I'm all about the sticky rice. If it's not sticky and white, it's not worth eating.

I'm currently having the same swings up and down. Frustrating. I'm sticking it out!

Where not explicitly noted, all exercises were done in about 4 equal sets.
A 50 V-Ups
B 50 Back Extensions
C 100 Push-ups
D 100 Pull-downs
E DB Row to Shoulder Press (2:1 ratio) 2x10@20
F Sit to Stand (see below) 2x20 each leg
A 50 V-Ups - I think what I did was what could be most generously called an L up lol. I can get my legs in the air, but getting my torso above a crunch was not happening. Did these in 4 sets.
B 50 Back Extensions - A bit more equal here, 5 sets of 10 was the rule of the day. It's been ages since I've done back extensions.
C 100 Push-ups - Well, now I know where I'd start in that 100 push-up challenge lol. Did about 25 regular on the first set, then another 15 from the knees. Then 20 and 10 for set 2 and 15 and 15 for set 3. That last regular push-up was all about wanting it.
D 100 Pull-downs - Another tough one - Tim decreased the weight as he saw my form deteriorate, and toward the end I was moving very little, but I was tired to be sure.
E DB Row to Shoulder Press - Interesting combination here. While the weight is limited by the inclusion of the shoulder press, concentrating on a full range of motion for the row helped.
F Sit to Stand - This exercise is basically the push from a one legged squat, from being seated on the bench to standing up by it. I was having balance issues, so Tim put a chair in front of me that I could use to help with balance, but not with lifting. I was able to do about 5 each leg without the chair, and about 10 each leg with the chair, though my right leg was obviously better at it than my left. Still, it was the first time I'd tried anything like it.
Overall - A good workout. Broke some ground too in the sense I'd not done any sort of one legged squatting before at all. Which is probably one of the better reasons for having a trainer - they put challenges in front of you that you'd not thought of, or that you thought you couldn't do. Actually I was expecting 100 squats to finish the workout, so Tim really threw a curve on that one. In other areas, I'm not sure why I still have problems in trying to do sit-ups or any variation thereof. Got that post-workout good feeling going here, which is nice.

Man that is one heck of workout. Tim has you changing it up! Great job. Glad you had a great night out. As hard as you have been working a relaxed night was well deserved.
