It's good to see you getting so strong and fit! I'm hoping it's not making you ravenous
Yeah, I think it was the water buildup from being sick that was the culprit.

Oh, and I think it's about time for some progress pics!
Funny you should mention that... I posted July's pics to my progress photos link last night. I don't see that much of a difference, but you know how that goes.

AMRAP, 1 Minute per exercise, rest at end of circuit and as needed within the circuit. All Exercises except A6 were done with a 30 lb dumbbell.
A Circuit x 3
A1 Goblet Squat
A2 Core Twist
A3 Arm Curls
A4 One Arm Swings (30 Secs per arm)
A5 Half Squat with Overhead Press
A6 Curl-ups (no weight)
A7 Core Push Press
A8 Squat with Upright Row (30 Secs per arm)
A9 Row (30 Secs per arm)
A1 Goblet Squat - Oddly enough the 2nd set was the toughest - not sure why, but I'll try to be sure to pay attention to form in the 3rd set.
A2 Core Twist - This is getting to be more of a rest from the goblet squats than an exercise in and of itself.
A3 Arm Curls - This is SO much easier to do with a dumbbell... I'm going to have to ask Tim if he has any recommendations for using the kb here.
A4 One Arm Swings (30 Secs per arm) - Said it before, saying it again - dumbbell swings just don't feel right if you've done them with a kettlebell.
A5 Half Squat with Overhead Press - Tough - and have to watch as the db got loose a little at the top of one rep.
A6 Curl-ups (no weight) - Godot? Could you bring some situps when you get here? Thanks.
A7 Core Push Press - This went surprisingly well, considering it was the exercise from hell when I started doing this workout.
A8 Squat with Upright Row (30 Secs per arm) - This one tires me out more than I think it does, because I'm usually pushing myself through the rows as a result.
A9 Row (30 Secs per arm) - Like the other exercises, paying attention and looking for full range of motion here, especially since it's at the end of the circuit.
Overall - Tiring, but not quite as soul-draining as the kettlebell version, which was tougher due to the added weight and configuration of that weight. I'm hoping to see some improvement soon but it's much tougher to gauge as it's not a definite number I'm posting (as I would with weight) though I suppose the kettlebell is a step up.

Did you describe what this is somewhere? You say "per arm" so I'm guessing something with DB. Do you squat with the DB hanging and then do an upright row of the DB as you rise in the squat?

Don't think so. The way I do it now (which, now that you ask about it, I should ask Tim if I'm doing it right...) is to start with the weight on the floor, and while doing so, bring the weight up to my shoulder via the row. It feels kind of like doing a push row actually, because it feels like my legs are helping me get the weight up.

225.75 - I about fell off the scale when I saw this number... Well, maybe not fell off, but I certainly did do a double take. So I'm going to take a "HOLY SHIT!" and a "HELL YEAH!". It's too good to believe, but I'll take it. (Then again, I was good this weekend, even on the 4th, and the infection seems to have been taken care of.)

HOLY SHIT is right! Congrats man. It is about time that scale moved for ya. Keep up the great workouts and stay on those calories! I am totally jazzed for ya.

Yes, I think the major player here is having most of the food prepared by me. Tonight was an exception as it was book club, but I had steamed veggies with hunan sauce (which isn't as bad as it sounds, since it's really more of a liquid than a sauce) for dipping.

Yeah - an 8 or 9 pound drop... but hopefully it will stay this way through the week.

I did thanks - went to a family party and had a great time. (I had some salad with what tasted like italian dressing, cherry tomatoes and almonds - I quite liked it - a chicken breast with a spice rub, that was sitting in a tray of what looked like gravy/sauce but was more of a liquid - that went well with the salad, and diet coke. Yes, I had no alcohol. Hopefully your 4th was enjoyable as well.

You will get used to it. Any plans to adjust the workouts so they aren't helping you to find the feed as Leigh puts it?

No, no plans to adjust the workouts just yet. I don't want to make so many changes that I don't know which one actually worked. It's been my belief that my diet was basically ok, it was just the happy hour and non-documentable meals that were the problem. The change here is to eliminate happy hour, or if I do go, to only have soda, and to always have basic foods that are easily loggable when I've not prepared them myself. (e.g., I know about what 6oz of chicken breast looks like, so if I order a grilled chicken salad, dressing on the side, I should be ok.)

225 - Still surprised to see that middle number as a two rather than a three (or a four), but I'll take it. As I said in my previous post, I think happy hour was what was doing me in mostly - as it seems to me that a slower metabolism + extra calories + water retention is not the way to take off weight (thank you, Captain Obvious). I think the big whoosh this week was a combination of my body shedding water from processing alcohol as well as the infection that I got rid of. Now that that's done I'm wanting to see what I can do without that hindrance.

Wow, Tom, I don't check for a couple of days and I find you half way to 220 already! Congratulations!!! Woohoo!!!
Thanks everyone - I'm sitting up waiting for a pot of aloo rajma to cook, and it smells delicious. I had picked up curry powder from a new Indian grocery near here, and this is the second time I'm using it. It has such a wonderful aroma, I can't wait to see how it will be received when I bring it to a party I'm going to tomorrow. And this time I made sure to get the spice bill right... (I've been known to use a half tablespoon when a recipe calls for a teaspoon and vice versa...)

223.5 - Since it's been three days in a row, I have to think that being in the mid 220's is not a fluke, and that I don't want to do anything to screw with this momentum.

Congrats! And you know, your losses since April are good ones. So, even with happy hour and such, you were making progress. I think you'll see even more losses.
If you happen to jump back on the no alcohol thing after the wedding, in August - post about it, because I'll join you. With the 4th holiday and my visit with Lori last month, I drank more than I had been. We are going on vacation 7/18 or I'd do the July challenge. I have all plans to have some drinks then.
