Yeah Tom!!!!!! Under 230 and some awesome compliments on top of that! I know it totally sucks to reduce intake. I was sitting at my desk this morning thinking I'd like to stick my face in a vat of peanut butter.
But, look at your results! Great job. You should buy yourself something to celebrate.
What a great idea - but what to buy...?

Did I tell about how I threw away half a bottle of Bailey's I'd been drinking 1 serving from about twice a week? It tasted terrific but I seemed to put on weight faster w it than w/o even for same calorie intake.
Of course - I'd want a big-ticket item for this lol. I don't think you mentioned the Bailey's before, but it falls right in line with my experience about drinking and metabolism.

Isn't it hard to finally admit how much alcohol does affect our bodies despite our strong wishes for the contrary... I mourned Saturday as I drank my last beer for a while.
I know - I have to stare daily at my kegerator, wishing I could have a beer, but I remember that I have to weigh in the next day, and that usually keeps me away. (I actually only drink one or at most two days a week, well, or used to... for now...)

Yeah, the cutting out was bad, but I'm glad at least seeing a positive result from it.
Thanks everyone for sharing this goal/milestone and your good words/wishes.

228.25 - It's hard to tell when weighing myself on the doc scale in the gym as to where exactly the middle is, so I'm splitting the difference between 228 and 228.5. Still, it seems like I'm holding my ground on the loss. I'd also add that I posted my lowest 5-day rolling average today since I started tracking - 230.4.
Went to the doc's office today and weighed 228 with office clothes on (as opposed to gym wear for my "official" weigh-in). According to his records, I'm down about 20 lbs since I last saw him, which would've been around the end of April/beginning of May if I remember correctly. He added that I looked thinner as well. All this said, it looks like 220 is the new 230.

Awesome! This is fabulous, and well-deserved. Good work!

228.5 - Still hanging out at the 228 and a half mark. Not complaining really, was just hoping to have a more secure foothold in the 220's before I go to NYC this weekend for my cousin's engagement party. As you can tell, my diet will be lax, as I hope to get a visit in to Brooklyn Brewery, as well as the actual party itself.

Yahooty Tom! Hold on to that 'thin and fit' feeling and remember what a great place it is to be especially when you are wanting your food or beer fix!! Do you have a pair of pants that are a size too small? For us girls clothes are a great motivator. I have a pair of pants hanging by my bed that I use as my pantsometer. When they fit, it's time to celebrate by buying another pair :-)

Yup I have a pair of pants like that. But it's going to be hard because I don't get to NYC all that often and still less so to be able to visit Brooklyn Brewery. *sigh*

Thanks - I hope to be in the 220's when I return but I don't see it happening (without a lot of abstinence...)

AMRAP, 1 Minute per exercise, rest at end of circuit and as needed within the circuit. All Exercises except A6 were done with a 16kg kettlebell.
A Circuit x 3
A1 Goblet Squat
A2 Core Twist
A3 Arm Curls
A4 One Arm Swings (30 Secs per arm)
A5 Half Squat with Overhead Press
A6 Curl-ups (no weight)
A7 Core Push Press
A8 Squat with Upright Row (30 Secs per arm)
A9 Row (30 Secs per arm)
A1 Goblet Squat - Legs were pretty good with this one, but I have to figure out a way that I can reasonably hold the kettlebell. A question for Tim.
A2 Core Twist - Here too and in A3 the kettlebell started slipping because my hands got sweaty.
A3 Arm Curls - Tough to hang onto esp in the 3rd set.
A4 One Arm Swings (30 Secs per arm) - There's just something right about doing swings with kettlebells.
A5 Half Squat with Overhead Press - Not too bad here, but again, figuring out how to hold the kb will be a factor in this one.
A6 Curl-ups (no weight) - No kettlebell here, and a bit better performance.
A7 Core Push Press - This one was tougher for me than using the dumbbell and in fact my left shoulder got tweaked, so again, proper holding technique needed.
A8 Squat with Upright Row (30 Secs per arm) - This was tougher too as I could feel my arms (esp the left) wobble as I got to the top of the row.
A9 Row (30 Secs per arm) - Not sure why, but these seemed easier with the kettlebell.
Overall - Between the grip problems, the unique configuration of the kettlebell, and the extra weight, I was dragging by the end of the third set, grateful for the workout to be over. In other words, it was certainly challenging, but doable, and that's about the best thing you can say about a workout.

Tom, great job....just super!!! Looks like a lot of us are really tracking these days and finding it certainly does speed up the downward direction of those scale numbers. You should be very proud of yourself....keep up the great work!!

229.5 - Not sure where this is coming from but I'll be pissed if this goes back to 231... Didn't eat any differently, but there are some circumstances... Lack of sleep - for some reason couldn't sleep last night for whatever reason. Also too I'm fighting off an infection (started taking antibiotics yesterday) so perhaps that has an effect.

Good and bad news on the beer front... I found a local distributor I can special order kegs from. This is good because it widens my choice as to what I can put on tap, but it's also bad because it widens my choice as to what I can put on tap. I currently have Lancaster's Milk Stout on at the moment, and it's a very tasty brew. (I've not actually touched it since the beginning of the month.)
For the summer, I've ordered a sixtel of one of my favorites - Ommegang's Hennepin Saison. I love the saison style, but this is a particularly good example of it. And it goes really, really well with hot foods, particularly Asian. The price was pretty reasonable too I felt - $75 + tax + keg deposit. Considering a sixtel is the rough equivalent of two cases of beer that's not bad at all. Very highly recommended - if you see it around your area, try some.
Having had success with ordering the Hennepin, I decided to really push the envelope and see if I could get Huyghe's Duchesse de Bourgogne Sour Flemish Red Ale as a sixtel... and I CAN! The price (about twice that of the Hennepin) means it'd be a very special occasion brew, but it's just good to know I can snag some.

So I was going to come here and spout off a beer poem for you. I googled and was overwhelmed. Do you have any idea how much beer poetry is out there?! Sheesh. So, instead here's Beer Haiku Daily.
I just hope I can maintain it tomorrow so it's not a fluke. No alcohol this weekend certainly helped - I'm beginning to see just how much it slows down my metabolism, even apart from the extra calorie intake.

Well, in case it wasn't obvious from the post, I REALLY like those three beers (I'd have to, to get two cases of them at a time.) Saisons to me are what summer is - the PERFECT style to sip in the shade on a hot day. And Hennepin is one of the best - if you've not had a saison before, find out what you've been missing. While I very much adore the Duchess, she's a lady that might not appeal to all tastes. Me? I love me some sour stuff, and this is nicely sour and drinkable, and even better on tap. Lastly, Lancaster's Milk Stout is at once one of my long time favorites and one of my newest... I got to try it at an expo at Penn State many years ago, but hadn't had it but sporadically since. The sixtel I have now is the first real continuous tasting experience I've had of it and it is delicious - nicely roasted (moreso than Guinness) with hints of chocolate and coffee. The Lancaster is probably the cheapest of the three, but the other two to my palate are oh so worth it.
Oops, in my rush to post earlier, I attributed the Duchesse to Huyghe. This is incorrect, as BROUWERIJ VERHAEGHE is responsible for the gem that the Duchesse is.

Hmmm I wonder if I can arrange training in Savannah so I could do the Haunted Pub Crawl mentioned on Beer Haiku Daily.
