Strength Training
All weights in pounds.
A Turkish Getup 2x5@20 (each side)
B One-Arm Swings 2x10@55 (each side)
C Core Push Press + Goblet Squats 1x10@50, 1x5@50 1x5@47.5, 1x10@47.5
D Assisted Pull-up 1x10@-130, 2x10@-145
E1 Front Squat + High Pull 3x12@55 (each side)
E2 Front Squat + Lateral Raise 3x12@20 (each side)
F1 Pushups 3x11@BW (each side)
F2 Row 3x10@55 (each side)
A Turkish Getup - Ok, so I had the woman who runs the corporate gym come over to check my form/technique and guess what happened... For the first time EVER I was able to do both sides with great form (usually it's just the right). I may just be confident enough with this to add weight now.
B One-Arm Swings - 55! 24kg and 28kg kbs incoming!
C Core Push Press + Goblet Squats - I probably should've done all three sets at 47.5, but eh, this is good too.
D Assisted Pull-up - Definitely moving into new territory here, having hit the -130 now. The last reps of the last set were tough though, so I may have to think about what I want to do next workout.
E1 Front Squat + High Pull - 55 here - need to make sure not to have my free hand on my leg as it makes it easier to do these.
E2 Front Squat + Lateral Raise - No way was I going to be able to move anything over 20, and even that was a challenge.
F1 Push-ups - Stayed the same on the pushups here, but may add one next time on Monday.
F2 Rows - I may not be able to drive 55, but I sure can row it.
Overall - As much as I was backing away from it - this was quite a good workout. I was afraid of not being able to live up to the previous workout on Monday. Turns out I didn't - I went beyond. It's looking like there's something to this carb loading at dinner thing. Since I've been having the brown basmati rice for dinner I've had three good workouts (which includes Tuesday's spinning) so I think I'm going to keep doing it.

Weigh-in Update Delayed
Well, it had to happen sooner or later... I left my sneakers at home, so had to do my weigh-in with my spinning shoes on. With the spinning shoes on, my weight's 116.75, but without them on it's 114.75. I plan on finding out how much my sneakers weigh, and add that to the 114.75 and see where I come out at. Probably similar the spinning shoes, but am curious nonetheless.

You truly ARE wasting away Why are you weighing yourself with shoes on?

To be honest I've not thought about it til now. I just stepped on the scale and that was the number. So my true weight is probably a little less, but the numbers I get are accurate in the sense it's true weight + clothes (which never vary). (I somehow don't think the gym would take to the idea of not having the clothes on.)

Ha! You hit part 2 but not part 1. If you weigh 115, I weigh more than you (and could probably deadlift you too )

Ah now I see lol. Yes - 216.75 and 214.75 are the correct numbers. This is what comes of being so concerned about the shoes and botching the numbers. Good catch.

That is a great weigh in. How much of weight loss for the week would that make?

Tom, you are on a ROLL!!! Go with this momentum. I believe it wasn't too long ago that I said you were headed below 200. See?!?!?

It's a really simple diet - just costs an arm and a leg.

Weigh-in Update
216.5 - Yes, this is the official update! And not a bad one at all. I expect to be up tomorrow because for some reason I was really hungry today. Didn't pig out, but certainly went over maintenance. Ah well such is life. Tomorrow though I go out for Indian food with friends. Should be a good time. I plan to have something vegetarian, something I can make at home to see how I fare with a similar recipe. And I will try my best to stay away from the naan. mmmmm... naan....

[quote=stingo;599991]Had two people ask me today if I lost more weight. The first was a friend at work that I see daily or nearly so. We happened to ride up in the elevator together and she asked me if I'd lost weight this weekend. lol I said, why yes - since the scale was indeed down from Friday's measurement, but I didn't think enough to make a noticeable difference.
The second time was at book club this evening. I'd missed the last meeting since I was away in NYC for my cousin's wedding. Again - got asked if I was losing weight again - and I said I was trying. Response was that I was looking good and to keep up the good work. I said something along the lines of well, now I have to order the steamed chicken and broccoli to keep up with my image lol. Which I actually did. Another member of the club brought in blueberry zucchini bread. I normally abstain from any sort of dessert, but 1) it was homemade, so I give that special consideration, and 2) I love me some zucchini bread. So I had a thin slice and it was very good indeed. I figure a small cheat like that was worth it, plus it made the person who brought it feel good that I had some. So a win-win all around.

That's great about the weight loss comments! Sometimes you can gauge your weight loss even better by what your friends say than what the scale says...
Mmmm...zucchini bread...
My dd and I just made a quadruple batch of whole wheat zucchini bread last night. It's YUMMY, although a tad heavy. I forgot to tell her to add extra baking powder b/c of the whole wheat flour, and to make it worse, when I turned on the oven to preheat, smoke billowed out! She had been making crayons a few days ago and spilled the melted wax in the hot oven. YUK. I didn't think I should put the zucchini bread in so I put the oven on self-clean and baked it tonight. Still yummy though.

Yeah, seriously!!! Though I missed the 116 instead of 216 also. Don't you know you're supposed to get up, pee, and weigh yourself in as little clothing as possible?! Several times, with the scale in several different spots on the floor?! Sheesh, men!

Random Thoughts
Got my two kettlebells today! A 24kg and a 28kg. Tried a few swings with the 24 and managed just fine. I think I'll see if I can get a 32kg if the sale is still on when they're back in stock, but I think I'll be good on kettlebells for a while (unless I want to make pairs of the ones I have).
In other news, I talked a friend at work into weight training again, so we went to the corporate gym to go through the circuit program I did a few weeks back. We went through the exercises with the woman who runs the gym and she suggested some modifications and the starting weight to use. One of the modifications was doing half squats (instead of full squats) with a view to progressing to the full version as my friend became accustomed to lifting again. A good call, as my friend seemed stiffer when it came to squatting than when she last tried it doing NROL. All in all I think she enjoyed the workout, and found the metabolic component of it a little surprising. I told her that will increase as she works herself up to her training weight and that she did really well. (She can do full situps for a minute... I can't do one yet *sigh*) As for me, I got a little lesson in starting someone off on a lifting program. It was good because the gym manager seemed very receptive to my ideas and showed me some of the considerations for someone new to lifting (or returning after a long hiatus). Of course the fact that she allowed me to "train" (in the most liberal sense of the word) my friend at all was good thing too.
