I picked up a lot of good cooking tips from The Fat Flush Plan. She uses chicken broth to cook with, it's savory, keeps the food from sticking and few calories.
Beware the 'calorie free' sprays . . . they are NOT. And a tablespoon of oil is almost 100 calories which can add up. I'd rather have a hundred calories of chicken than oil :-)
Kudoos for making the suggestion to the cafeteria for even healthier food plans.

True enough - I do use chicken broth where I can, especially for cooking rice.

Friday afternoon is "happy hour" at work. (people start cracking open beer around 2-3pm while we all finish up our work for the week) Someone in my office went to Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago & brought a 4-pack of Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA. I was drooling all over it. He said that a coworker was going back in a couple of weeks and he'd talk to him about bringing some back for us. YEAH!

I'd suggest trying the Raison d'Etre (which I think you have already) or their India Brown Ale - both are excellent.

I haven't tried their brown ale. I so wish we could get dogfish head out here. The same guy was talking about how he had about $100 worth of beer shipped out to him once. Cost him $40 in shipping. I think I'd rather just drink what we can get here.
We're talking about making a trip out to Portland this winter to visit my family, so we'll have many opportunities to get our hands on stuff we can't get here in KC. Perfect timing, too. winter seasonals are my favorite.

Strength Training
Beginner Program #2
Encyclopedia of Kettlebell Lifting
By Steve Cotter
All weights in kilograms.
A 1 Arm Swings 2x10@16
B Turkish Getup (each side) 2x5@8
C 1 Arm Clean and Press (each side) 2x5@16
D 1 Leg Deadlift (each leg) 2x5@16
E Split Squats (aka Lunges - each leg) 2x10@16
F 1 Arm Snatch (each arm) 3x5@16
G Front Squat 2x10@32 (2 KBs)
H 2 Arm Swings 1x20@16
A 1 Arm Swings - As these are part of my current workout, not much to see here. (Felt good doing 'em with a kettlebell though)
B Turkish Getup (each side) - This was a disaster on the left side especially starting out. Definitely more warmup needed before even attempting these.
C 1 Arm Clean and Press (each side) - A sort of new exercise for me with a kettlebell, so some coordination/form issues, but on the whole, not too bad.
D 1 Leg Deadlift (each leg) Ah lack of balance strikes again - I was pretty ok on the right side, but the left definitely needs work.
E Split Squats (aka Lunges - each leg) Cotter calls these split squats, but I've always seen them referred to as lunges. At any rate, I held one kettlebell on the same side as the working leg, did the set, then switched to the other side. Was feeling it toward that 10th rep on both sets.
F 1 Arm Snatch (each arm) - Another new exercise, particularly with a kettlebell, and no surprise here, much more work needed on the left hand side.
G Front Squat - Another oldie but goodie, but this time I opted for holding both 16's. Definitely made a difference too.
H 2 Arm Swings - More swings to round out the set. Not bad here, but I was tiring toward the end.
Overall - I opted for something different today, as I had to do something since I didn't work out yesterday. So, I figured I'd play with my kettlebells, and give another of Steve Cotter's workouts a go. Not a bad showing, but I know form could be a lot better particularly as some of the exercises were new. Still, I'm happy I worked out and feel better.

Weigh-in Update
222.25 - Back down to my lowest recorded weight so far, so I'm guessing my happy hour on Friday was a success. (Though next time I'll order the chili OR the grilled chicken salad but not both.)
As a testament to my bad form on the snatch, I've got two faint bruises on my left forearm - the right one is fine. Still, I was feeling a little DOMS when I woke up this morning, so it was a good workout. I think I like this one better than the other, because I can do all the exercises (even if with bad form). As a side note, I'm glad I picked up lighter weight kettlebells, as the TGU was tough enough with an 8, let alone a 16.

Yeah kettlebells are fun to work out with. I much prefer them over dumbbells. As for being sore? I was when I was in bed just before I got up but that has since dissipated for the most part. About the only place left is the legs, and that's not really that bad. I'd recommend getting a kb, or at least test driving one to see what you think.

True, but would there be anything to prevent you from trying one out? That way you'll know what you want to do, and what size kettlebell you'll need to do it with. And if you're going to get more than one, get different sizes - like an 8 and a 12. I bought mine in pairs til I actually started working out with the bells I had. You can definitely get a great workout with one bell.

Spinning
Since I did strength training on yesterday, I took spinning today. (Running a kind of bizarro world schedule this week.) Different instructor, which was good - as it kept things interesting. Whereas the night time instructor likes to hit 9's and 10's in terms of exertion level, he gives us 1's and 2's to recover. The daytime instructor seems to like hitting 7's and 8's, and recovers at 3's and 4's and takes fewer of them.

many years ago, family friends moved from California to Chicago - and couldn't get some favorite beer there. When they came for a visit with their toddler, they bought a car seat for the rental car (needed a 2nd one anyway), and shipped the seat in the hold full of beer.

Weigh-in Update
221.75 - I'm getting out of the weight predicting business... Unless of course the gain shows up tomorrow? Still, this is the lowest number I've yet posted, so I'm still pretty happy, even if it is fleeting.
ETA: 223.1 for a 5 day rolling average is also the lowest I've posted today.
