Congrats on the milestone, Tom. You deserve that! Nice workout, too.

But, look at your results! Great job. You should buy yourself something to celebrate.
What a great idea - but what to buy...?

Very well done.. I'm grinning to see your hard work re the calorie counting and abstinence pay off so well.
Did I tell about how I threw away half a bottle of Bailey's I'd been drinking 1 serving from about twice a week? It tasted terrific but I seemed to put on weight faster w it than w/o even for same calorie intake.
Of course - I'd want a big-ticket item for this lol. I don't think you mentioned the Bailey's before, but it falls right in line with my experience about drinking and metabolism.

Isn't it hard to finally admit how much alcohol does affect our bodies despite our strong wishes for the contrary... I mourned Saturday as I drank my last beer for a while.
I know - I have to stare daily at my kegerator, wishing I could have a beer, but I remember that I have to weigh in the next day, and that usually keeps me away. (I actually only drink one or at most two days a week, well, or used to... for now...)

Yeah, the cutting out was bad, but I'm glad at least seeing a positive result from it.

Thanks everyone for sharing this goal/milestone and your good words/wishes.

Thought of you when I just read this:

A pint of beer is better for you after a workout than water, say scientists | Mail Online

Mind you.. beer was better than water, but worse than a sports drink ...

But the beer would be far more enjoyable than either of the two alternatives

Default Weigh-in Update

228.25 - It's hard to tell when weighing myself on the doc scale in the gym as to where exactly the middle is, so I'm splitting the difference between 228 and 228.5. Still, it seems like I'm holding my ground on the loss. I'd also add that I posted my lowest 5-day rolling average today since I started tracking - 230.4.

Went to the doc's office today and weighed 228 with office clothes on (as opposed to gym wear for my "official" weigh-in). According to his records, I'm down about 20 lbs since I last saw him, which would've been around the end of April/beginning of May if I remember correctly. He added that I looked thinner as well. All this said, it looks like 220 is the new 230.

Awesome! This is fabulous, and well-deserved. Good work!

Thanks - yeah seems so. Also seems like my body likes to hang around a particular weight for a while, and then whoosh, reset it to something else.

Default Weigh-in Update

228.5 - Still hanging out at the 228 and a half mark. Not complaining really, was just hoping to have a more secure foothold in the 220's before I go to NYC this weekend for my cousin's engagement party. As you can tell, my diet will be lax, as I hope to get a visit in to Brooklyn Brewery, as well as the actual party itself.

Yahooty Tom! Hold on to that 'thin and fit' feeling and remember what a great place it is to be especially when you are wanting your food or beer fix!! Do you have a pair of pants that are a size too small? For us girls clothes are a great motivator. I have a pair of pants hanging by my bed that I use as my pantsometer. When they fit, it's time to celebrate by buying another pair :-)

Congratulations, Tom!! Great job on nailing the 220's -- enjoy yourself in New York, then come back with 220 in your sights!

Yup I have a pair of pants like that. But it's going to be hard because I don't get to NYC all that often and still less so to be able to visit Brooklyn Brewery. *sigh*

Thanks - I hope to be in the 220's when I return but I don't see it happening (without a lot of abstinence...)
