Yup, that's my thinking too. Though my spinning instructor, Linda, said he's into total fitness, so it sounds like I'll be getting some interesting programs. To hear him tell it, it would be the same basic exercises as I was doing in NROL, but I'd be doing them in ways I'd never done before. This was encouraging.
As a side note, while we were going through form on Hypertrophy I, we were coming out of the weight room which was in the basement, and heading to the fifth floor.Tim happened to have the book in hand and commented that there were step-ups in the program. I said, "I can see where this is going..." and sure enough he suggested taking the stairs 2 at a time up to the fifth floor. To my surprise the trip was a lot shorter than I expected, probably because we were talking on the way up.

He is - Linda introduced him to me after the two hour ride on Black Friday. I mention this because a couple of female friends (one of whom I work with and the other used to work with us) I found out later were checking him out. If I can get that kind of reaction, then I'd be totally satisfied. (Ah, vanity... lol)

Nothing wrong with a little vanity.... Bob strokes my ego and my vanity all the time due to the changes in my body composition with the weight lifting.

NROL's Hypertrophy I, Workout B11
All exercises 5x5, 90 seconds rest except for abdominals which are 3x15, 60 seconds rest
A1 Squats 80
B1 Deadlifts w/Shrug 80
C1 Bulgarian Split Squats 25
C2 Step-Up 25
D1 Reverse Crunch (w/12lb Medicine Ball between Knees)
Notes:
Squats and deadlifts - The 80lbers were the perfect challenge for the legs today. Not too easy, but not incredibly difficult. I wish I could say the same for my grip though. It was giving out a lot more frequently, to the point I had to delay the last rep of the last deadlift set about 20 seconds so I could lift the dumbbell without dropping it on my foot. Still, I should note that the 80lbs dumbbells are the highest weight (dumbbells only) at the corporate gym. It's not the highest weight overall as I could attach platemates to get as high as 170 I think, but it would look and feel pretty freaky. Normal usage, I could get 165.
Bulgarian split squats and step-ups - I'm pairing these together today because I know that the next time I do them the weights will most likely be lower but I'll have a fuller range of motion and much better form. Still learning how to set up the BSS properly - when I nail it, it feels really good, the problem is finding that sweet spot.
Reverse crunch - not much to say here other than that the 12lb ball is actually more comfortable to hold.
Overall - This was another workout I needed to keep my confidence and spirits up. The fear of failure was strong today, but I managed to overcome it and get the job done. And the personal goal of working out with the 80lbers was achieved as well. I should also add my personal training is already paying off - the trainer reminded me to hold my abs in when squatting and deadlifting and I remembered to do so today, which I think made a difference.

Stingo, great job with your workout, I'm on Fat Loss II and can't wait for Hypertrophy I. Hey at least your gym's dumbbells go up to 80, my gym only goes up to 65.

hey stingo, if your having some grip problems with the DB's, id consider throwing in some grip work in your training somewhere because your legs and arms are going to progress much faster then your grip. Ive had some grip issues before, farrmers walks, plate pinches, high rep deads, 1 arm db rows, rdls.. all seem to really hit the grip hard for me, then of course some chalk.
nice work in here, dont think ive checked it out before. NROL is a great program.

Haha I'll get there, and I'm NOT looking forward to it. I can barely get through these FL II workouts.

Thanks everyone - it seems to be the time when people are noticing something different about me again. A few people told me I look like I've lost weight again, one whom I know I last spoke with at Halloween. Even if it was the change to better fitting clothes, still, the fact that others have mentioned it on different occasions says to me I'm on the right track.

Spinning
Linda's next to last class... we did a difficult interval class today, and after yesterday's leg workout I was feeling it. But I got it done. We (Linda and I) are setting up something fun for her last ride. The gym is offering what they're calling specialty classes - new classes or old classes at different times. So Linda's last class will be a specialty class, which was named a reindeer ride. We were talking about it at our holiday party, and she mentioned wanting to get dressed up as a reindeer, and I said you'd probably need a Santa Claus... well you can see where that was leading. Funny how these sorts of ideas are generally hatched in bars... But I'll be going to the costume store on Saturday to see what they have in terms of outfits.

Its always nice when other people start to notice the difference. It's sometimes hard to see yourself getting thinner. I know when I lost my weight I always thought I looked heavier then I actually was. Good job, keep up the good work.

Target has Santa suits for 20-30 male reindeer.
