Looks like a good workout. Good job.

I gotta try something Bulgarian again, soon. I've never been too good at those...

Great workout Tom! Congrats on the BSS accomplishment. Balance is such a big part of that exercise. I struggled with balance the last time I did these -- three days ago. You should be well pleased with yourself on this workout!

Thanks everyone,

Yes, I feel very good about today's workout. Friday's will be toned down a bit per Julie's recommendation, to give the left bicep a chance to heal. Oh, and I need to add this:

Metabolic Overdrive

5 Rounds, 6.0/3.5

Doesn't matter - I'm thanking you for taking time out to help me, and for that I'm grateful.

I'm feeling the effects of yesterday's workout. The DOMS is noticeable, but not excruciating. Stepped on the scale today, and was very surprised by the number... 226. I've NEVER seen the underside of 230 in the course of this journey, and even though the number is probably due to changing glycogen and water content, I can't help but think some of it is due to actual weight loss.

Of course it is! Woot woot woot!

Yay for low-carbing. Yes, true enough you'll have lost tons of water with the glycogen and most of it will come back, but fat loss speeds up. Unless you go too low in carbs/calories for too long. But that's why TNT has refeeds built into the plan. Or any other decent low-carb diet, like FlexDiet or PSMF from Lyle McDonald.

Is it safe to say that this Hypertrophy program may give easier fat loss since it doesn't drain you as much as the Fat Loss Program?
Hard to tell since you also followed a different food plan during FL123, isn't it?

To be fair you were seeing swings in water and such in the 230's too, so you have obviously lost some weight. Good job, and keep it up!

Thanks for the encouragement - feeling really good about the results between yesterday and today.

Espi, it's hard to tell, but here's my take on it - as you, Roland and others pointed out in this log, I was most likely eating close to maintenance (not changing food intake as weight came down)/using the same food plan for a long time, which is more than likely the principle reason for the plateau. I also think I wasn't getting enough protein with the former food plan, so the TNT diet fills two major requirements for breaking the plateau - 1) making a huge change in food plans to switch things up, and 2) a large increase in protein intake to help the muscles.

Looking back on it now, doing the Fat Loss programs all together provided me with huge benefits other than weight loss. I noticed that starting Hypertrophy wasn't nearly as difficult as the previous programs since I was already familiar with most of the exercises (except for the high pull), and my body was more resilient to training, particularly because of Fat Loss III. I REALLY like the progression - from going from supersetting unrelated muscle groups in Fat Loss, to mirrored muscle groups in Hypertrophy (well at least in I). I feel that all this will culminate when I start the Strength series, and that's where I'll see my biggest gains.

And again, thanks everyone for your support.

226!!! That is great!!! I'm so excited for you! It makes me want to try the TNT diet. Almost.

Your HI workouts look great too. Doing the BSS with weights for the first time is fantastic.

Incidentally I went to the grocery store today to get some more cheese, spinach and a few other things, and they had locally grown super cauliflower right in the front as you came in. lol Must be a cauliflower boom.
Cauliflower and Broccoli both like cooler weather to grow. That's probably why you are seeing locally grown stuff in the stores right now - its coming out of the fall gardens.

Thanks everyone - went out this evening and had a couple of glasses of wine and some buffalo chicken and blue cheese - it was quite good.

At the corporate gym I go to, they're running another incentive program. This time it's rolling a die (singular of dice?) and what number you get corresponds to an activity that you have to perform. Well as it turned out, I rolled this morning and got the one where your hands are on the ground and the tops of your feet are on the stability ball and you roll the ball forward with your legs - I can visualize it, but I can't describe it well... At any rate, the woman who runs the gym said she'd like to see me do the lateral raises. So I said, (knowing tomorrow was Hypertrophy's upper body workout) I'll do the lateral raises today, and the ab/ball thing tomorrow. She agreed. The lateral raise, was basically holding 5lb dumbbells at the top of the lift for as long as you could. I was able to last about 3 minutes and 6 seconds, because my left shoulder started to protest. At any rate, I was surprised to find out that I was now the leader in the event. When I reported my time to the woman who runs the gym, she seemed surprised by it lol. I'm guessing I don't look that strong... as I know the person I beat out is very lean and muscular. I fully expect someone will best that time, but still, it felt good to know that I could do SOMETHING somewhat well.

Default Core Control & Spinning

Tried out a pilates-like class today and was reminded of how long it has been since I tried one. Also too, I did better in some exercises, like single leg bridges than I ever did before.

Spinning was, by general consensus, an endurance ride. Fun and not too taxing. I was grateful because I was feeling the effects of yesterday's leg workout.
