Default Weigh-in Update

220.25 - *Sigh* But a non-standard measurement in that I didn't take my meds beforehand. Will see what happens tomorrow.

Default Spinning

Hills today, and it was a good class. As noted already, I've changed my plan based on what I learned at the orientation. I don't crank up the gear as high because I'm aiming for a higher and more even cadence on the gear that I do have on the bike. It seems to be working as my pedal stroke is much smoother, but it still is quite the challenge.

Congrats on the spin certification. No wonder you were trying to push it off on me. Your progress pictures are amazing. Do you have friends and family that don't recognize you when they see you? I looked through the last couple pages of your log. I don't even know what half the the things you are doing are--A Turkish Getup--Is this some kind of a middle eastern fashion statement? What is your current eating plan out of curiosity?

I was at my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago, and one of my two nieces (they're 5 and 3) was asking "Where's Uncle Tom?" when I was sitting at the same table. So I guess I look a bit different.

Here's Steve Cotter doing the Turkish Getup with a kettlebell

And here's a Turkish Getup, Cirque Style..

If you want/need explanations of the other exercises, just ask.

As for the eating plan, I eat a moderate carb diet, where I try to maintain about a 1k daily deficit. Lately I've been running aground though as the weekends seem to inevitably include beer, which my body doesn't seem to like quite as much as my taste buds do.

Default Weigh-in Update

215.25 - I can't explain it, other than to say I retain a lot of water due to poor circulation in my legs (which is why I take a diuretic). Having a 5 or so pound swing in weight between when I don't take my meds and when I do is not unusual. Still, for whatever reason, I'm happy to see such a low number today, regardless if it's valid or not, it's appealing/appeasing to my psyche.

Thanks, but I just found out that the local microbrewery just released an apfel-weizen *sigh*.

Did your weight fluctuate this much when you took a break from drinking? Even though you are drinking some beer, you are still losing. Way to go!

No, it doesn't - looking at my graph it's immediately obvious when I have beer and when I don't. Most of that weight disappears after 4-5 days, but it creates some kind of havoc with the numbers.

Default Summer is now over...

...for me anyhow... Why? Because my keg of Hennepin Saison has kicked tonight, so the days are suddenly shorter, the nights abruptly colder, and the light itself more circumspect. But it's ok... for Oktoberfest started this week in Munich, which means of course that all the pumpkin beers and marzens are fair game. I hope to pick up my keg of Southampton's Pumpkin Ale tomorrow. *Rubs hands together gleefully*

You love beer like I love wine. Bad for our diets but so so wonderful.

I know, I have been way bad in neglecting the training logs on the other side of the fence ever since they split them up. I'm sorry and I promise to be better about keeping up!

You really are doing just great, Tom!!
