The Official SFM Three-way Deathmatch AKA Tina and Jill Kick Roland's A**!!
Here it is...what you've all been waiting for...the official SFM Challenge Log. This is part of the 61 Day Challenge. Some of us needed a competitive apect to the challenge. Some trash talkin' ensued, and here we have it.
The Contestants: tkinsley (Tina), L'ilJ (me!), Lost Dog (Roland)
The Program: Chad Waterbury's SFM (Strength Focused Mesocycle) Program
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=485341
The rules: - Start date is June 25th
- End date is July 30th
- Each person has to complete all nine workouts during the start and end dates. We are allowing more time due to some scheduling conflicts (vacations) with Tina and Roland. If we are all done earlier, we'll end the contest right there and decide on a winner
- We'll measure the total percentage strength increase between the first and last workouts for these key lifts. The person with the highest overall percent increase wins!
- BB Good Mornings
- BB Front Squats
- BB Standing Military Press
- BB Box Squats
- Seated Rows
- Power Cleans
- Floor Press (BB or DB)
- Lunges
- No sandbaggin' (this means you Roland)
- No hitting below the belt (I'm talkin' to you Tina)
- No biting or scratching (okay, that's really directed at me...we gotta keep it clean)
The Prize: Bragging rights.
So that's it...let the games begin.

Sounds like good, (relatively) clean trash-talkin' fun. I bet the forum bookies are busy taking the bets right now...
Good luck, guys.

I don't blush. That's my schtick.
You were counting on me being weak? Guess again.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm (which is just more protein for Roland!)
I did my first workout of SFM.
All 3x3
A1: Power Cleans, 155
A2: Pullups (Neutral Grip), 235lbs (185+50lbs)
B1: Floor Press (DB), 85lbs (each hand)
B2: Lunges (BB), 175
Jump Rope, 5 minutes
Notes - This was really a lot harder than it looked on paper. At the end, I was sweating more than I thought I would for the amount of exercise I got. Lifting that heavy is hard, I guess. Also, I was starving. It was all I could do to get to food fast enough, despite having a pre and post workout protein drink in the locker room
- It was really hard to get the DBs up and into position in the last set. I could have used a bit of help, but I managed. Makes me concerned about the weight of the dbs in two weeks. Uh oh.
- Jumping rope was actually longer than 5 minutes. I had my heavy speed rope with me. I'm not used to it. It has weighted handles, too. It was very hard. My forearms are bruised from the heavy rope hitting me whenever I stopped. The "rope" is really heavy and stiff.

Hmmmm.... I think days got switched around here, Roland... I also did my first day of SFM this morning:
BTW, loser--nice power cleans and pullups, punk. And lunges... OK, those too.
All 3x5
A1 Good mornings 100
A2 Decline bench press 98
B1 Chins (wt asst) 105
B2 BB Front squats 100
Jump rope, 5 mins
My notes:
1. Still figuring out maxes--my 7RM is not something I've ever thought about (3x5@7RM for this workout), so I did a LOT of warmup sets to get to the working weights.
2. I just subtracted the weight that I was assisting from my body weight to get the chin weight.
3. I suck at jumping rope after front squats. I also need to get my friggin feet up in the air (but as I've mentioned, THIS white girl can't jump).
4. Pleasantly surprised at the front squats--I haven't done them for quite a while (like a couple of months I think) and my 3RM was 115 at that time, so looks like something carried over, anyway.
