Ooooh...do you suppose working out has irritated it, if that's what it is?

I went to the dr. today and it has been confirmend that I need to have a surgery to remove an umbilical hernia. This stinks soooo bad!! I woke up yesterday w/ moderate pain that worsened when I stood up and moved around. Today I felt great... but decided to keep the appointment. Now I have a consult w/ a surgeon in July....

My dr. said no lifting anything over 5 lbs.... this really stinks!! This was my off week in NROL so I wasn't too upset that I couldn't workout, but now I am upset because I can't lift weights.. and I was to start Hypertrophy II next week!

I need to call and ask more about cardio... hopefully my dr. will give me the okay... I don't know why I didn't ask today... my head wasn't in the right place.

I wish you a speedy recovery Ark. I am sorry to hear about the hernia but the good thing is you are finding out about it now and it will be taken care of soon. Don't worry about not being able to lift. There are other things you can do. I tend to think that we have a few areas in our life we need to always work on, Body - Mind - Spirit - Emotion. If you are unable to do the things you want with your body right now, that is ok. You can focus on one of the other areas because you now have the time to dedicate to it.

Just my .02

Hi Ark. Sorry to hear about the forced break but in the long run it will make little difference in the realm of working out - but a big difference to your health of course...speedy recovery to you

I hit the gym today I ran for 25 minutes and completed 3 x10, step ups w/ 2, 20 lb weights in hand... I felt great!!!

I am thinking I will do light running and light lifting in one area just to keep from feeling like jello....

I did stay away from a piece of birthday cake that was calling my name for two days!!! Thank God I woke up today and it was gone... hubby ate it last night!

I did my cardio today... I also did 3 x10 dumb bell shoulder press w/ 2 10 lbs weights. I also threw in some ab work.... trying NOT to do much, but trying to do something. I go to the dr. next Thursday......

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Guadalupe River... BUT w/ all this rain, it looks like we will float the Comal River... IF it doesn't rain!!!! The Comal River is the shortest river at 3 miles.... we will float it twice This is more of a family river, but they do allow alcohol on the weekends!! YIPPEEEEEE ... don't worry, my kids will not be with me on this trip!!!

When we get home on Sunday, I will be doing laundry and turning around and taking the kids to Crystal Beach until Thursday. I am hoping the weather gives me a few days of sunshine... I can't take all this rain!!!!!!!!!!!

We took the girls to the pool today and it started raining about 20 minutes after we got home... so we made it in perfect timing!

We could use some of that rain up here in Wisconsin!!

Have fun floating (drinking), and at the beach.

Default Back from the surgeon

I rescheduled my appointment last week for today.... we were at the beach and having too much fun to leave.

So I went to the surgeon today. He said the hernia is very small and that I could leave it alone for a while... unless it continues to bother me. I asked about lifting and he said yes unless it bothers me. So tomorrow I will begin lifting weights again I am so excited!!!!

I am going to have the surgery as soon as I can get in and schedule it w/ my family.... I will need my hubby to take off and I will need family to help w/ the girls.

I will not be allowed to lift for 4 - 6 weeks after the surgery. I know for sure I wont' have it for a few more weeks. BUT I am hoping to have it done before September.

Not working out has really taken a toll on me emotionally. I'm hoping my mood gets better w/ the exercise

I noticed your post in the NROL section... What about easing into lifting and start with the BreakIn program? It'd probably help you get used to exercising again after your hiatus.

I thought about easing in, but I decided to give it a try and see how I feel. The two workouts I've done so far have been great Once I have the surgery, I will definitely start w/ a few break-in exercises. I don't think taking 6 weeks off and jumping right in will be good.

Thanks for the advice I appreciate all advice and comments
