Take a look at it...It doesn't require too much time at any one step - bottling being the most labor-intensive - nor does it take much space.
As a cellar, I insulated the closest under our basement stairs and have room for about 600 bottles. More than enough room!

That's a beautiful area! I've been through Lebanon a couple of times and visited friends in Norwich, VT - across the river from Hanover - several times before they moved about 20 years ago.

Oh my goodness those are beautiful pics! Makes my backyard view of a block wall seem pretty unexciting -- but I've got squirrels in my yard!

I'm jealous of both of your views and lakeside living - course there's the ocean, but some days you can't even see it. Just gorgeous.

thanks for the wine primer Egham - we made apple wine in microbio lab drinkable immediately after fermentation at the time, I looked into kits for the real deal - but I've never known anyone who did it themselves. I'm not sure I have the patience for wine though - at least beer you can sample the results in a reasonable amount of time.
give Mrs Egham my best for a speedy recovery.

So I drop by to check on your training and see all this "wine-ing" going on.
I am partial to whites, not too dry. A favorite right now is a good Riesling.
BTW, I hope the Mrs. is doing better.

Squirrels can be fun to watch. We also have these -

It's kind of difficult to see in this photo, but the blueish, vertical oval-shaped thing sitting on the end pier rail near the center is a great blue heron. Those things are big!

One strategy for the impatient is to start by making a 4 week wine (or 2!) that is drinkable young. That way you have something to sip on while the others age. Some kit wines are drinkable 2-3 weeks from bottling, but they are much better if you wait a couple of months. Other kits seem to require at least a year before they become readily drinkable. Making a mix of kits really helped me handle my impatience when I first started.
I'll pass your good wishes on, thanks!

Thanks!
I'm a "wine-er" from way back. When I was in college, my family moved to the San Francisco Bay area....about 3 miles from a winery. It all started there for me....That winery was just too easy to get to.
A good Riesling is a very good thing, I prefer the somewhat drier ones.

June 25
Nutrition: Full Compliance
Exercise: Too tired. Just a few minutes of lazy swimming in the lake. Nothing worth counting.
It looks like today is pretty much out exercise-wise as well. Mrs. Egham's vertigo has become considerably worse; she's experiencing spinning in 2 directions simultaneously now (I really can't imagine what that must be like.). I took her to the Doctor just before lunch and there wasn't much he could do. She's taken some more Valium and I'm sticking close by to keep an eye on her.

I probed a bit. It turns out the "simultaneous" part was my interpretation. What's she's experiencing is spinning in one direction for a few seconds and then it reverses and spins the other way for a few. I still can't imagine it. Seems like both inner ears are acting up.

Egham, I'm sorry to hear about Mrs. E's troubles again. Please let her know we are all pulling for her (I know you do). Don't worry about a few missed workouts. There are more important things in life sometimes.
All my best!

Thanks folks, I really appreciate your kind thoughts.
Mrs. Egham started out pretty good this morning, but may have just pushed too hard, too soon - the spinning returned about mid-morning. She did call another of her doctors and he seems to think that a trigger-point injection might help alleviate some of her problem. Her neck muscles have become very tight (who's wouldn't under these circumstances) and that seems to be creating somewhat of a positive feedback effect, perhaps exacerbating the problem. I'll take her to see him a bit later this afternoon. I hope it gives her some relief.
It looks like I'll miss my NROL workout again today, but I'll head out to a shady spot in the yard for a TT bodyweight workout shortly. It's hot and humid, but I'll manage by jumping in the lake as I need to to get through the workout.

June 26 -27
June 26
Nutrition: - Full Compliance
Exercise: None
June 27
Nutrition - Full Compliance
Exercise - I did manage to squeeze 2/3 of a Bodyweight TT session in - From the 6-Month Bodyweight Training Manual - Phase 2 Workout A - 2 sets of each -
Y- squat 15
2-leg ball curl - 12
Prisoner Lunge - 24
Offset Push-up 15
T-squat - 15
Diagonal lunge - 20
Spiderman climb -24
Beginner Inverted Row 10
Elevated Push-up 16
Bicycle Crunch - 40
It was hot, even with the lake for occasional cool-down!
Mrs. Egham's trigger point injections have helped some, but she's still far from fully functional and - as one might imagine - is becoming quite anxious about the whole thing.
