Thanks, Stingo and Lance!

Nutrition: Full Compliance
Exercise: HIIT on treadmill @ 1 deg incline - 10 reps 60 sec @ 10mph, 90 sec @ 7.0. 3 min warm-up, 5 min tapered cool-down.

It's been awhile since I did HIIT on the treadmill....It showed.

Egham, I'm so glad to hear Mrs. had a positive trip. That certainly is encouraging.

Great job on the HIITs. I'll be starting up with those again, soon.

Hey....guess what I got today?!!!!!

Very good news about Mrs. E!

I hope the TRX continues to be pleasure-n-pain.

Thanks Paula, Victoria and Dave! It is so good to see her doing better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will last a good, long while.

I really dislike HIIT. If I discard anything in my workout schedule due to whatever might come up to interfere, HIIT goes first. I actually enjoy resistance training and running, and will do one of those instead in a heartbeat.

Let's see.....You got a raise?.....a PROMOTION!?......Oh wait.....I know....your TRX must have come in! That's just as good. Congratulations, and have fun getting playing with it.

What will the neighbors think?

Dave> Pleasure and pain about sums playing with the TRX up, although I do seem to be getting the hang of a good bit of it. When are you getting yours?

Nutrition: Full compliance

Exercise: I did another round of the first set of TRX exercises from the Military workout manual yesterday. It seems that part of my balance issue was due to simply not being accustomed to working with the device. They aren't gone by any means, but they are nowhere near as bad as at first.

Have you considered complexes or bodyweight circuits, instead. A lot of the stuff that I've been doing off of Ross Enamait's site are very intense. Surely as good or better than HIIT.

I'll have to look into these sorts of alternatives. Craig Ballantyne does mention bodyweight HIIT every once in a while, but I have not seriously considered trying a round or two. ..Perhaps I should. Thanks for the suggestion LD.

There are all kinds of combos in CB's workouts. Have you had a chance to look through many of them yet? I've found some really cool workouts that include variations on all three (complexes, BW circuits, HIIT) in one program. Problem is, I just don't think I'd have enough time to do some of these workouts in the morning. Although, I might be able to once I start telecommuting....hmmmmm.....

Anyway, I think I've also noticed that I don't think I get as much of a fat burning effect doing the BW circuits instead of the HIITs. When I was doing NROL workouts, I did HIITs and I steadily dropped fat, albeit very slowly, and now that I'm doing BW circuits, my fatloss seems to be even slower. So, I'm going to do HIITs again with my next program and see what happens. Maybe it's because it's easier to stop and take extra rests doing the BW stuff than it is on a tready with an ever-turning belt.

I used to do bw circuits and not feel like I was dropping much fat. After doing a few of Ross Enamait's routines, I realize that I was not doing them hard and fast enough.

Try six circuits of this. Feel free to change the reps so that you feel like you have 2 reps left in you on the first go around.

6 rounds, no rest between exercises, 30s between rounds.

5 burpees (w/ a jump on each)
5 pushups
10 body weight squats
50 jumping jacks (speedy ones)

You really should be dying about round 3. You will be forced to pause and look around for a defibrillator, just in case. Keep going, as hard and fast as you can. It's your OWN max effort that will give you the fat burning effect. If you give it your ALL, you will see the effect.

That's what it's about for me. I KNOW I rest too much. Urgh! Something to work towards, I guess.

Exercise: TRX Military Workout Manual Day 1 w/nephew

Two of my nephews arrived for a few days visit on the 28th. One just graduated from Iowa State in mechanical engineering and is awaiting his security clearance to start working for a missile defense contractor. The other is back from teaching business English in Prague for the past 18 months . He currently plans to teach in northern Thailand for a while after spending another couple of months at home.

The Iowa State graduate trains regularly and is highly intrigued with my TRX. I took advantage of that, let him play with it for awhile and then had him watch and critique how I completed the workout. I found it quite helpful.

I have been looking through the workouts and have tentatively settled on the new, August KB, DB, BW Fusion workout. I don't have kettle bells, but Craig specifies either kettle bells or dumbells in each of the weighted exercises.
