Thanks everyone.
Not much exercise going on this week yet. I'm taking a couple of days off on the weights. Cardio hasn't been happening. Will try to get back at it tomorrow.
On the positive side, nutrition has been very good.

Well nutrition is a good part of the battle - at least you're not digging yourself into a hole with bad eating.

Well, I did get out and run this morning. I did interval training. 3.3 miles in 29 minutes. Felt good. It was warm even early this morning, so I had a pretty good sweat going. Shower felt good afterward.

Strength I Kicked My Butt
Strength I
Warmup:
2 min at 5.5 mph on the treadmill
2x5xBW squats
1x5x75 squats
Squats (with 180 sec rest)
1x6x170, 1x1x205, 1x6x185, 1x1x210, 1x10x185, 1x18x135
Superset with no rest:
BSS: 3x15x10 (each hand) (note: last set - right leg - only could complete 10)
Step Up: 3x15x20 (each hand)
Superset with full rest (90 sec)
Superman (substituted for back ext): 2x10xBW
Swiss Ball Crunch: 2x10xBW
I really started to feel it once I got to the BSS/Step Up combo. After all the squat work, my legs were really burning. I couldn't complete the last set of BSS's for my right leg - only got 10 reps instead of 15. Thought that 10 lb dumbbells wouldn't be a problem after doing 20 lbs in FL II. My guess is that is was related to having just done squats, and my quads were feeling it big time. I went back down the basement after I had finished to get my water which I had forgot to bring up with me -- and I thought I was going to fall going down the steps. My legs were like jelly. And when I first started it seemed so easy, with the long rest periods and low reps. Deceiving, it was!
I think I'm going to really like the workouts, but they are going to be tough. Hopefully I'll see numbers going up in some of the exercises I seem to be a bit stalled at.
I took a day of vacation today, just to catch up around the house. Kids and wife are at summer school this morning, so it is quiet here at home! I'm liking it!

Yup the strength workouts are supposed to induce a deeper level of exhaustion into the muscles - sounds like they succeed.

Looks like you're well under way for S-1. Those high rep BSS + step-ups are evil. But you already know that!

Nice workout Lance! I really like doing strength programs too. Much more fun than the fat loss stuff if you ask me.

Yes, I'm liking this too after doing FL-1 and FL-2 most recently. I'm looking forward to seeing the weights go up (as Victoria eluded too). I'm liking the rep scheme on this one, really seems to make sense at working towards increases in weights.

Got out for a bike ride today too. Did 18 miles. It was warm and muggy, but a fun ride. I took the bike path near our house. It's pretty level, so no big hills to go up. And nice scenery. I'm pooped tonight.
