After biking to the softball game last night, we ended up stopping for ice cream. Well, I wasn't going to have any, but it was free sample day, and they came around to all the tables offering samples -- and I didn't resist temptation. Oh well, it was a small amount.
No exercise planned for today. We are getting ready to go camping this afternoon, so need to finish getting everything packed up. I'm going to try my hardest to eat descent this weekend, but I know it will be tough -- especially since we going with a group of other families.

Yes, she knows I "stole" her tire -- she actually messed her knee up when we were skiing in Colorado over spring break -- and is just now starting to get back to normal. But she's really not ready to start riding again yet.
Weekend and temptations do seem to go together!

Oooooh...camping! That sounds great, Lance!
No sweat on the eats...just ditch the buns, have raw veggies instead of chips, drink water instead of soda (well...a little beer is you must!), add in some early morning BW circuits before everyone wakes up, and play lots of games with all the kids. Weekend compliant!

Our family went camping nearly every Summer weekend when we lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills (1959-64) and then only occasionally after we moved to the Rochester, NY area. Lots of great memories..... Enjoy your weekend!

I'm glad you didn't turn down ice cream -- that would just be wrong
How was the camping?

Camping was GREAT! And...I had an ice cream cone there as well. As well as a few other "questionable" foods. But, all in all, great to get away, and overall I ate ok. Even got a workout in (thanks Victoria!) -- I did a BW workout on the beach while the kids were swimming one morning. After that, I was ready for the water too!

Saturday I did a BW workout while camping:
Superset with no rest:
BW Squat: 5x10
Pushup: 5x10
Superset with no rest:
Lunges: 3x15
Mountain Climbers: 3x70sec
It was a very good workout, got my heart pumping, and really started the day off on the right foot.

Today, I continued with FLII-B -- as usual, this was a very difficult workout:
Superset w/ 60s Rest:
Snatch grip deadlift: 3x12x155
T push up: 3x12xbw
Superset w/ 60s Rest:
Bulgarian split squat w/ overhead press: 3x12x10 (e.h.)
Chin up/lat pulldown: 7 chinups then 5 pulldowns, 5 chinups then 7 pulldowns, 4 chinups then 8 pulldowns
Superset w/ 60s Rest:
Romanian deadlift/bent over row: 3x12x80
Lower body Russian twist: 3x12xbw
Tonight I'm planning to go swimming -- there is an open water swim on the lake where I'll be doing a triathlon in a few weeks -- and since this is my biggest weakness in the tri, it's a great opportunity to practice and get a feel for the course again (I've done this same triathlon the last two years). It's a sprint triathlon.

Today -- not much -- heat and humidity were really high today -- so I decided not to bike to work -- save the people I work with from putting up with the effects of that ride! I did cut some of our grass this evening, so I'll count that as a cardio workout -- I definitely worked up a sweat -- but at 90 degrees that's really not that hard.
Swim last night was really good. I basically got to swim the course I'll follow in the triathlon coming up in a few weeks, and it went well. Swim is the hardest part of the tri for me, so it was reassuring to do this.

Lance, glad you had fun camping. Don't worry about the ice cream...you were camping for heaven's sake!!! BWs on the beach sounds awesome. Good for you.
How are the BSS w/ OHP going....hehe?
I'm jealous of your swims. I used to swim competitively in my high school years. I loved it. It's such a great workout. I can't wait to hear how you do with the tri. You'll nail it!!!
Stay cool...it's already almost 75 deg. here in beautiful central Connecticut.

Today: NROL FL-II A
Superset w/ 45s rest:
Front squat: 3x10x105
Dumbell Row: 3x10x55 (e.h.)
Superset w/ 45s rest:
Supine hip extension/leg curl: 3x10xbw
Barbell push press: 3x10x60
Superset w/ 45s rest:
Dynamic Lunge: 3x10x60
Upper body russian twist: 3x10xbw
Good workout. The 45 sec rest made things go faster, but got winded a bit -- especially with the squats.

Today: Biked to work, and will bike home tonight: Total distance: 23 miles.
What a nice day today, not nearly as hot and humid as it has been.

Lance,
How do you do your front squats? Grip the bar with wrists bent back or arms crossed? I always have problems with heavier weights with my long arms and the wrists bent back.

Interesting you should ask -- I was just thinking about that as I did them yesterday. I had to go back and look at the book to see how they were done. Which is -- with wrists bent back. And, you're right, it becomes difficult to do heavier weights, my wrists really feel the pressure. Maybe I'll experiment next time and see which way works best for me.

Good job sticking with the w/o's....
I used to do front squats with the "I dream of Jeannie" grip and then recently switched over to wrists bent back which for me is much more stable...
