Sorry lauren, but when I read that very last entry of bigDman I had to laugh out loud, as painful as your experience must have been.
Now what about...
At least I didn't get a concussion when I fell off the (flight of) stairs

Glad I made you laugh, Espi.
I tried to make it entertaining.
I also thought about changing that title of my log.
Now to recount my experience from this morning. BAD BAD 25-hour period from yesterday to today. I was forced to write a letter to the local public transit authority, which apparently prides itself on customer relations. Grrr....(warning, it's lengthy but I did send this; really.)
I am outraged, frustrated and disappointed with company further to my experience on October 12 at 8:20 a.m.
-----
For the past few years, I have occasionally taken the #5 bus from the corner of location (I believe the stop # is 7599) to location, on certain weekday mornings. I have noted it is often early by a few minutes and I have missed it frequently because of this. Therefore, when I had to take the #5 this morning to an important appointment, I arrived at the stop TEN MINUTES early to be sure to catch it. The bus rounded the corner toward where I was waiting, at location, on schedule at 8:20 a.m.. I motioned to the driver to indicate my interest in boarding. The driver did not even come close to the bus stop and remained in the far lane, completely ignoring me. I was livid, having taken extreme precautionary measures so as not to miss the bus.
I was forced to bolt toward the next stop, reasonably far away at landmark of next stop. This was difficult for me because I had suffered a severe fall down a flight of stairs the day before, and was having trouble walking, let alone running. I was actually on my way to a chiropractic appointment because of this fall and didn't wish to miss the appointment due to an ignorant bus driver. Thus, I did my best to attempt to catch up to the bus and I did come close to reaching the #5. However, to my dismay, it pulled away as I was nearing the door.
I then got on a #18 that happened to be right behind the #5 that I had been chasing. I explained to the driver what had happened and asked him if he could please call on the radio to the #5, to ask the driver to wait for me and let me on at his next stop. (I have frequently seen courteous drivers help customers in this way). The very helpful driver of the #18 (please pass on my compliments and thanks to him) called numerous times to the driver of the #5, who did not pick up his radio, respond to, or even acknowledge the request.
After listening to several fruitless attempts to contact the #5 driver, I realized I would not be able to get on the #5 after all. Therefore, I got off the #18 and hailed a taxi in order to be able to make it to my appointment in time. I would like company to reimburse me for my cab fare. This driver is directly responsible for my incurring this cost (which I truly cannot afford right now -- believe me, I would certainly have taken a taxi in the first place if I had the money).
I also blame the #5 bus driver for inflicting additional pain upon my already extremely sore hip when he forced me to run on an injured body part. I am outraged and flabbergasted at his ignorance and audacity. I would like a response to explain his excuses for flagrantly ignoring his responsibilities. Shame on you, company

Tsssk. boo hiss to that driver. This is unheard of and extremely irresponsible behaviour of a busdriver.
I'm hoping you are recovering quickly from that injury.

Thanks. I am feeling better already. It is a big-ass bruise though (pun intended).
I will be working upper body tonight. I haven't worked out since Tuesday so I must do something lest I mentally explode.

What's wrong with these bus drivers? Is this something that happens more regularly where you live?
It does seem that it happens more frequently that buses are ahead of their schedule.
I don't mind using trains or underground myself, but hate buses as they are always late. It's the major reason I got my folding bike, a Brompton AKA the smallest/easiest folder. It's awesome for using in combination with public transport like trains or metro. You can even take it on a bus, but people won't like that on crowded buses. Originally I believe it was made for use on boats. Now I drive so much, I also like to take it with me and save on parking fees by parking outside town and cycling into town. THe only drawback is that this one doesn't have a protected chain and you need to pull up your pants or use clamps to prevent them from being soiled.

I think this was a special driver, hand-picked just for me to kick me when I was down.
I tried to work out today but my whole body felt sort of tired and things weren't feeling all that great. I guess I will need to rest for a while...I don't think I'm quite as close to 100% as I thought. I'm always raring to go...
anyway, it will be interesting to see how much larger, bluer/more purple the bruise gets. These things often sort of develop over time. It's a bit swollen now
(no photos of the injury will be posted. I always said I would never post a$$ photos on the internet - so I'm not starting now )

My bruise doesn't hurt so much anymore.
My chiro did some ART this week on my hip flexor (I think it was that) and it hurt like a b*tch but really helped. I'm feeling much better (not ALL better but not limping really now) and even did some leg stuff last night! Yaaaa...

A nice flight of stairs but steepish and indeed dangerous to be slipping on.
Now I'm glad ours were so unsightly we could only put tapestry on. I've fallen down on that one 2 times when I was still foolish enough to wear toe-slippers on them. Now I either go barefoot or with shoes on.
This was what made me cut out night-dairy at the time, since having dairy at night meant getting up at least once. Without dairy I nearly always can sleep throughout the night uninterruptedly. Makes for less nasty falls down the stairs!

Lauren, oh, I am so sorry about your tumble down the stairs (and they are beautiful!) ... what a total bummer!! Glad that the chiro is helping ... has he given you any good stretches for the area? I know of some good ones if you need ...
Also, great job on the pistols!! You look a little shakey at the start, but the movement itself is very smooth! Nice!

Heh, the reason I was shaky is that I had worked out legs the day before
My dad refinished those stairs. They used to have carpet on them and we ripped it off...there were layers of paint, etc...he worked hard to sand/varnish/etc. and now they're fab!
I have gone out and purchased a specific pair of fuzzy sheep-lined slippers (because my feet are always cold) and put non-slip grip on the bottom (so I never fall again.)
The slippers are great!
My hip is feeling great again too. I feel lucky. Could have been muuuuch worse!!

ha yeah right.
I bought 2 huge heads of cauliflower for $1.50. I feel like a thief robbing farmers blind ...
There are great deals to be had at the end of the day in the market. I also got about 11 coloured peppers for a buck. Man, my freezer's gonna be stocked. I'm taking advantage now!!
Soon enough I'll be stuck in the grocery store having a heart attack at the 5-dollar cauliflowers flown in from the other end of the earth, wrapped in cellophane...

Checking in to say I'm alive and well (sort of).
The last few weeks have been challenging for me but I'm starting to feel human again.
I even worked out today and it felt good.
Have been sick for a while and lost a little but it will come back...
