Default She Rox Tri 61 day challenge

This is my challenge log. I'll edit this post to include my goals today.

ETA my challenge goals:

Here's who I am:
I just turned 43 on Saturday, married for 22 years with 1-21 y.o. daughter. Been into fitness for years but mostly used videos for exercise (Cathe Friedrich & Tony Horton). A few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to Lou & Alwyn & I sold all of my DVDs! Last month I decided to try a tri. I've been training for it ever since. I'm 5'6" & weigh 150.

I live in South Jersey & work for the USAF in a civil service position. This is your US tax dollars at work. LOL

nutrition goals:

I've been doing LA Weightloss for about a year now but have recently fallen off the wagon. I got back to it today.

I'll eat 5 to 6 small meals to include:

2 1/2 proteins
4 vegitable servings
4 fruit servings
2 starches (no bleached flour or white rice)
1 fat
1 dairy
2 LA Lite bars (basically a protein bar with 120-160 calories & 8 grams of protein)

I will allow 1 cheat day--keeping it real & reasonable.

fitness goals:

I will do 6 cardio sessions to include:
  • 2-60 minute bike rides
  • 2-3 mile run/walk intervals
  • 2-750 meter (+) swim sessions
I will also do at least 2 NROL resistance training sessions

personal goals:

I would like to lose 10 lbs of body fat--have no clue what percentage that would be because I've never measured. Guess I should do that sometime soon since I just ordered a set of calipers. I weigh 150 lbs this morning.

I'd also like to be able to do 2 un-assisted pull-ups. I just bought the pull-up set of the Iron Woody bands.

Competitive goal:

I will participate in 1-5k run between now & the end of this goal. As stated earlier I'm doing a sprint tri in August--http://www.sheroxtri.com/home_4.htm. But I'll find something else to do to be able to get the points for this part of the challenge. I'll post it once I know what I'll do--it will be an event completed some time in July.

Okay, I think I have everything. Looking forward to the challenge. I'll take pictures & measurements this weekend.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been lurking for a really long time but decided that it was time to come out of hiding & let you all get to know me as I've gotten to know you.

Victoria, my tri isn't until August 5th. I'm doing it with one of my friends & my daughter's best friend. T is 22 years old & was literally running circles around me on Tuesday night when she & I took our first run together. My daughter is in school full-time & works full-time so she doesn't feel she has the time to train but does get out with me when she is home in the evenings.

I'm setting out on this journey today...

Breakfast
3/4 c Kashi Go Lean
1/2 c 1% milk (just can't bring myself to skim)
1 c pineapple & ice (made myself a smoothie)

Mid-morning snack
apple

Lunch
chicken salad made w/ ff mayo
lettuce/spinach salad

Mid-afternoon snack
pear
LA Lite bar (160 calories/8 g protein)

Dinner
Tilapia
Broccoli & cauliflower
1/2 c kasha (buckwheat groats)

After dinner snack
LA Lite bar

My activities:
a 20 minute swim (should be about 800 meters)
a 60 minute bike ride

I've registered for a 5k to benefit a local high school's scholarship fund. The run is on 9 June--Maple Shade, NJ.

Hey JerseyGirl -- best of luck on this challenge! And from a fellow triathlete -- good luck on your triathlon later this summer -- it's always the swim that gets me.

Hey, Jerseygirl! Thanks for introducing me to this challenge. I added my log this morning and threw my hat in the ring. Hopefully it will be the kick in the pants I need.

Did you find a new competition yet??

I'm getting on track with this thing today...I haven't exercised at all since the beginning of this challenge & my eating has been shite.

Today, however, I've been completely on target with my eating & will be doing NROL FLIIA tonight & a run with DH.

As I said in my post in the thorns & roses thread, I've found a run that I'm going to use for my competition portion (Marie, I'm still looking & will "donate" a run to someone if I can find something for us). I'm doing http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1442438.

Ahh thanks guys! I didn't fall off the workout wagon, just the logging wagon. I've been so busy the last couple of weeks, I can't stand myself.

In addition to training for my tri my husband & I organize a motorcycle fund raiser each year & that took place this past weekend. So last week was the final pushfor that event. This is the 3rd year & was our biggest so far. We raised over $800 for missionaries from our church. Not too bad for what was really very little work.

My training is going pretty well. I don't have a swimming partner anymore so I'm dreading going to the pool but have been getting in good running & biking workouts. Last night I rode 9 miles in 43 minutes. I'm not going to win any races at that rate but it got my heart pumping & my legs were fried because I did a lot of hills & inclines.
