Default Iollan's Log

Fitness:
Use TT as my core program, add in core strength training as well

Overall goals
3x a week
Cardio/Interval 3x a week
Swim/Walk/Bike 2x a week

Nutrition:
Continue to eat clean, but focus on increasing calories, I tend to not eat enough most of the time. Continue to track on fitday.

So my focus for the challenge nutrition wise is about changing a couple of habits:

1) Watch my macro’s

2) Get more calories in earlier in the day
3) Plan ahead, have my food with me during the day

Personal Goal:
1) More time with the family, less time with work this summer
2) Be able to complete 42 push ups and pull ups by my 42nd birthday (Sept 31).
3) Lose 20lbs

4) Increase core strength and fitness, move on another program August 1
5) Figure out above program by August 1 J

Competitive Goal
TDB, still looking for a local event

Nice workouts Iollan! Sounds like you bike alot -- I'm biking to work, and it's always a great way for me to start the day -- I always feel really good once I get to work.

I haven't been on a horse in years...actually that is probably a good thing given the size I have been. I would hate to harm such wonderful animals. I think I will add that to things I want to do later in life...go on a nice ride...

Well, Iollan.... what is your favorite part of the challenge so far?

Iollan, welcome to the challenge. You are the 3rd person I've noticed on this forum that rides (horses, that is). Do you own a horse?

I hadn't ridden much since I was a kid, but have ridden about once a month or so since we moved to Kentucky 3 years ago. I have found few things in life that compare to a long ride in the country to help me focus on what is really important in life.

I do not own a horse, although my wife and kids would love it if we did. However, there are only two kinds of horses in this world, those that make money, and those that eat it.

I'm fairly confident that I'm not going to own any of the first kind!

I am fortunate that several of my friends that I've met since we moved here do own farms, and are generous in letting us ride, as well as teach my girls how to ride and care for the horses.

My favorite part so far.... great question.

I think it's that this challenge has helped me focus on a controllable part of my life at a time when everything else is a little crazy; seeing everyone here's success and their struggle has been encouraging. The realization that I can control my nutrition and exercise shouldn’t be a surprise, but as I have always struggled with food, it has been empowering.

Hey Iollan - your workouts are looking good! Isn't it great when you have the extra energy and motivation to push a little harder? I love when that happens.

45 minutes doing laps in the pool, and walked 9 holes this am before work.

Been a tough couple days, but everything is on track and is going to stay there!

Weighed in at 265.2 this am, loweset I've been in way too long; only 10 pounds above where I played ball at in college. Kind of a shock when I realized that...

I love swimming, when we bought our house, one of the main attractions was a neighborhood pool that was within walking distance for us, and we take advantage of it.

Rock On! This is awesome, man. It is interesting when you look at things in a different perspective. You really have come a long way. The greatest thing. you aren't finished yet. Who knows what all you will achieve...

Put in a hour in the pool today, needed to balance out a planned unclean dinner.

Neighbor had his annual party, makes the best cajun fried catfish I've ever had. Managed to only keep it to one piece, 1 hush puppy and the rest salad and veggies.

Bodyweight Squat 3x15
Elevated Pushup 3x12

Next five days are on the road traveling for work, so this should be interesting. Workouts are easy, eating is always the challenge for me.

The other guy in the hotel fitness center kept staing at me as he used the machines and I never touched one until I climbed on the bike and proceeded to really confuse him with my HIIT workout. He asked me if I really thought my 30 minutes on the bike was enough; he was going to do an hour because thats what it takes to keep in shape... :p

Looks like a good workout, especially considering limited equipment. That's funny about the bike -- some people always think more is better!

Playing a little catch up, too much tome on the road last week....

Work outs are all on track as planned; had one day where dinner was off track, but well deserved

Weight is down to 261.8 as of this morning, another week ahead to keep moving forward!
