Figured I’d start a new log to coincide with the 61-Day Challenge. But as the name implies, it will extend beyond the 61 days.
I’ve learned a few things about myself since joining this forum in January and doing NROL workouts and following PN. I know I can be compliant for a few weeks at a time, and I know I can stay on track for a couple months. But, I don’t know if I can be compliant for an entire year. I seem to stray from my goals and workouts every now and then, for whatever reason, and then I get back on track again. So my ultimate goal and challenge is to get through the year without losing focus and commitment. And, since I’ve never been on a structured program like this before, I think it will be fun to see how much my body will change in one year. My first goal is to lose another 15 or so pounds. Then, rather than settle for maintenance, I thought it would be fun to see what would happen if I switch to a “bulk” mode…nothing crazy, just see what would happen. Heck, if I’m going to be “bulky” I’d rather it be from muscle than from fat.
So, here are my goals for the 61DC:
Nutrition: Precision Nutrition V2
I challenge myself to be 85% - 90% compliant each week.
Fitness: Resistance Training: I challenge myself to complete 17 workouts of 45 minutes each (2 workouts/week). I’ve been doing 3 workouts per week and I think it’s a little too taxing on my body. I seem to do a little better with more recovery time.
HIIT: I challenge myself to do 17 HIIT sessions of 15 minutes each (2 sessions/week).
Personal Goal: (I think this category is really cool.) Since drawing and sketching are such an important part of my work, and because I love to do it but never seem to do it enough for my own pleasure, I challenge myself to spend 1 hour per week in a self-study drawing lesson as follows: 5-10 mins. Warm-up (gesture, contour, etc.) 40 mins. on learning/practicing a specific skill (pen & ink techniques, perspective, etc.), and 5-10 mins. of free drawing (anything I want).
Competitive Goal: I challenge myself to enter 1 event.
I’ve been looking at various plans for my workouts and other longer term goals and will post the details when I have it all worked out (by June 1, of course). I look forward to this challenge!
This is an awesome start. I am interested in hearing about how your sketching comes along. We may have to try and talk you into posting some of your work or something if you are interested.

Hey Victoria! I'm so glad you're logging again and joining the challenge. You've set yourself some very realistic goals and I KNOW you're going to do well.
Yay, Victoria! It sounds like you've really thought this one through. I have no doubt you'll succeed.
Now, I need to get my act together and post it also. See you in the trenches.

That might require some serious convincing, Newman...it's like bearing the soul!
Thanks, ladies! I've missed posting my workouts and kibitzing with everyone. This challenge is just what I needed. Can't wait to start! I think I figured out what I want to do for the 8 weeks. I think I'll have to up my workouts to 3 times a week, though...no big deal. More details to come.

I can understand about the need for serious convincing... Fortunately, I am a good convincer... lol j/k. Anyhow, I may have to post some of my random free verse sometime as long as folks don't laugh at my okie prose....
Things are lookin good here Victoria....

Your okie prose and my goofy scribbles...could be the start of somethin' big! Post prose any time, please!
I think I have my plan all nailed down, so now I can't wait to start! Oh yeah, I may be making a slight change to my goals, but I guess as long as it's by the 1st I'm OK, right?

Hey Victoria! Glad to see you posting again ... how's the studying going? Hope you got out to enjoy some of the beautiful weather this past weekend (camping was a blast BTW) ...
Hugs!

Hey...look who's back!!! Cool. Now go sign up for the challenge like the rest of us!
I'm glad you had fun camping. I hope you made yourself sit down for a while here and there. It's imperative to your health! How are you feeling, by the way?
Studying sucks the big....ugggg!!! I'm just so sick of it. I crammed all day Saturday, then blew off the rest of the weekend. Figured I'd earned it. It felt good to be a normal human being again. I actually went to the barn Sunday and rode the boy for a while. Ooooh, he was a punk. Too much green grass to distract him. It felt great! Then mowing the lawn and other house stuff on Monday. I JUST WANT MY LIFE BACK!!! But, I decided to give myself a little slack and am excited to get back to loggin' some workouts! Tina, I don't envy you at all!!! But, it's back at it full swing the next two weekends again! Shoot me now!

OK, things are right on track. I received the upgrade V2 to my PN last night. So, I'll be gobbling that up by Friday to fine-tune my nutrition goals. And, I have my workout routine all planned out. I'll post it later tonight. I'll be making some modifications to my original goals as well.
Today's ahhhhh moment...I'm toolin' down the highway this morning on my way to work and suddenly all the cars in front of me came to a complete stop. I couldn't figure out why a first because there was nothing apparent going on...until I saw the mama duck and all her babies waddling across the road then dissappearing into the woods. It just made me feel really...well...happy!

Cool! At least they were stopping and not speeding up!!
I got V2 also .... some good stuff ... I think the customization part is much better ... easier to understand and implement.
Yes, I relaxed a bit ... read a great book (The Time Traveller's Wife) ... sat on the beach and looked at the water ... turned my kids into mermaids on the beach by burying them in the sand (their legs anyways) ... toasted marshmallows by the campfire ... took a nap each day ... all good stuff!!
Sadly not joining the challenge ... I'm only going to be around until June 21st or so, so it just wouldn't really be worth it since we won't be home for good until the end of August/Labor Day weekendish ... and I have no internet access up North ... but I'll be checking in to kick some butts!!

Julie, it sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing time...I'm so glad for you. You derserved it!
Just thinkin' out loud on the challenge thing...could you still do all your goals at the cabin, and maybe, just check in by phone each week if the internet is not an option? I'm sure Newman would be more than happy to accommodate. I just hate to see you miss this opportunity because of logistics.
LD, I've had a couple inquiries already about V2. I'd be happy to give you the low-down when I finish making the comparison. However, maybe this is a job for.....Gobbla! Either way, I'll tell you what I think!

Ok, I’ve decided to take on one of CB’s workouts for the duration of the challenge. It’s the TT BW-DB Fusion Fat Loss program. Being 8 weeks long, it seemed to fit perfectly with this challenge. I’m upping my original goal of 2 workouts/week to 3 since that’s how the program is written, and I want to get every last bit of benefit from it. The cardio work is actually BW circuits, which I think will be fun, but just in case I feel like ripping it up on the tready or the spinner, I reserve the right to switch now and then. These, too, are being increased to 3 sessions/week.
Since starting NROL (FL-1 & FL-2) in February and PN a couple months ago, I’ve lost 15 pounds and 2 pant sizes—half way to my ultimate fat-loss goal of 30 pounds. So, needless to say, I’m very pleased, so far. And, since I’ve been in a steady fat-loss mode, I see no need to change my eats. If and when I hit a plateau, I’ll start tweaking things. I think that’s it for now. Can’ t wait to start!

Thanks, Julie. Yep! 15 whole pounds. I finally broke 160. I'm now at 158 and still dropping. So I have high hopes for this TT program for the next 8 weeks. My goal is to get down to 150 by the end of the challenge. I do my first workout tomorrow morning. Should be good!

1st set of new routine, no problems. It will take a couple workouts to get the weights down. I'll definitely progress into full push-ups, just wanted to start easy after a week off, and starting a new routine and all.
Didn't read the fine print. I should have done 15 leg curls. See what happens when I assume?
Superset: Split Squat, front foot elevated (3x8): 8 @ 15#, 8 @ 20#, 8 @ 20# DB Rear Delt Raise (3x10): 8 @ 10#, 8 @ 8#, 8 @ 8#
I should have done more reps on the delt raises, too! Next time. Ooooh hooo, it feels so good to be logging workouts again!
Well, on paper I was afraid the TT routines wouldn't be as challenging as the NROL which I've grown so fond of. But, now that I've completed the first one, I have a funny feeling the TT workouts are going to be just as disturbing as NROL. So, overall I liked the workout and supersets with no rest. I felt like I was flying through the workout. I think once I get in a groove with the right weights, I really start feeling it. I did produce a bit of a sweat by the last set, though!
Starting Stats for 61DC:
Weight: 158 lbs Other measures: I'm going to do these this weekend
Goal Stats:
Weight: 150 lbs

Thanks so much for your welcome in my blog! I really appreciate that.
Congrats on losing the 15 pounds! That's so awesome. I am also doing NROL workouts at the moment and am feeling really wiped out - I have a strong suspicion my kcals are too low. Were you really diligent with your eating during that timeframe??
